Congrat's Jeff. Nice effort mate ;)

Your new ET/TS is very simliar to my old times (13.1 @ 109.5 - 2.153 60ft) I had 215rwkw at that stage, once again similar to your 205rwkw mark!

Good luck with 12's mate. I've been knocking on the door for a while. Last s/meet, with the stock clutch finally replaced, I was very confident of a 12. But 1 pass (which I stuffed up) in 5hrs put an end to that.

Cheers,

Matt

Whatisname, that is a top effort. With your power you should be looking at mid 12's on street tyres, you just need to get the launch. I must admit, I cannot claim "full street trim" as I took out my subs, and spare, and set my tyre pressure dowm to 20 psi.

I have a 6 puck kevlar clutch, so that is not a weak point. I just think with a bit more practice launching, I can probably peek into the 12's.

Also whatisname, what turbo are you running/other mods to get that power. I am looking at trying to get a similar power level to you (I don't want to push the standard internals much past that). I am looking at possibly just getting a larger compressor cover and wheel, for my turbo.

Jeff.

I'm not really in the same league here...

I have an R31 with an RB25DET ... and a T04E ... and a few other mods zorst/short shifter/ecu

It's only running 9 psi and it pulled 190 rwkw on the dyno.

I ran it recently and i came away with a 13.85 @ 100MPH.

Could have been better if i could change above 6000rpm (as the fuel pump is on it's last legs and i'm not getting enough fuel up high)

Interestingly though... the 60' was 2.019 and that was with Simex 215/60/16 on 25 psi.

And as i've got no idea how to drive it'll get lower.

So i think 1.9 or better is possible with them.

Also a low 13 is coming (when i do fuel pump) but i'm looking into the cheap mods also, like pulleys and that sort of thing.

I've heard the pulleys are not cheap ?!?

I was also told the removing the Engine fan isn't good, and that the engine isn't happy ?!?! as thermo's don't keep it cool enough ?

Just a few things i've heard but i'm following this very closely as it's not just about power, it's engine ability to rev also.

R31Nismoid - that is a impressive 60' time. I'd be very happy with that... I think I might have to invest in a pair of these Simex tyres :D

BTW: I'm running a DC 16 thermo fan on mine now and it's great. Needle sits a fraction below half and has never gone past that. Car warms up quicker (great for the minus 10 mornings here in Canberra :D ), and the engine seems to have just a tad more responce.

I actually find that with normal driving the thermo fan doesn't turn on very much at all, and the temps are still the same as they were when I had the normal fan on. Sitting in traffic the fan will come on for about a minute every 3-4 minutes, and that was on 35 degree days.

Is this a stock item on a R33?

I think my air conditioner thermo fan (the one that sits in front of the air con core) is a calsonic one.

If you've got a radiator thermo fan it'll be on the engine side of the radiator.

Thanks Jeff. Yeah it's just a matter of practice practice practice :)

Removing subs & doing tyre pressure changes, ahhh that's still street trim to me. Gotta' have the spare in though :D Need that weight over the rear end!

As with me, you've got the mph for a 12 no prob's.

I think we chatted re my turbo once before? I don't actually know what the exact spec's are unfortunately :) T3/T4 Garrett non BB built by Precision Turbochargers & not a high flowed stocky. That's about the only things I know 100%

I was pretty happy with that indeed.

Little shocked actually as they aren't the widest tyres... and i'm not the best driver either.

They certainly aren't costing an arm and a leg so that's a good point also :)

mmm... My temp gauge just comes above the cold... right at the bottom.

The temp sensor has been chaged and it still sits Super Low and the car once warm doesn't run it cold start so it's a good level if you ask me.

Just don't wanna loose the super low temp by changing fan's.

good luck dude unless you are using a safc-ii I've never seen a safc pull more than about 5-6 rwkw extra on a skyline... If it has been in conunection with other mods .. But if you get into the 12's great effort... no one esle has done it with stock turbo and intercooler...

Didn't the HPI S15 pull a 12.9 on the stock turbo?

The good ol' gtst would have had a 12 a while ago instead of a 13.4 if I didn't use little 205's. I don't care to stay in 13's anymore I've got a S-afc II and a cam gear on so it should be easier.

I wouldn't suprise me if the HPI s15 did 12's, they car is an easy one to get going quick.

The S15 is a bit of a hole shot weapon (for a RWD). Nightcrawler's S15 is a perfect example. Minimal mods (exhaust/FMIC), 1.90 & 1.93 60ft's on stock rubber, with stuff all drag racing experience! Nightcrawler's best 1/4 numbers are 13.4 @ 104 Hmmm? Strangely familiar? :P

Alittle off topic but anyhow....

For the people with traction issues, apparently the Dunlop FM901's are fairly decent. I got a quote today from my local Bob Jane T-Marts @ $265/tyre (Includes fitting and balanced).

Not sure if this is expensive or not (sounds it to me for a stock size) but yeah....

Ben - yepp, the 901's are pretty good. I wouldn't say they are the bee's knee's, but are still pretty good.

I've still got to watch first gear though, but that's more me being over zealous on the go pedal :P

One thing I noticed when I came up Macquire Pass (near Wollongong) is when you get a bit of heat in them they perform about 100% better. It's just a shame that they're not like that all the time :)

I got mine for $230 a piece for 225/50/16's, but they stuffed up the quote and they should've been $280 each .. Love it :)

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
