... This facility is owned by the tax payers of NSW (State Government) not the "management comittee" apointed to run it. I suggest drafting a letter to the Minister of Sport and Recreation enlightening them to the going's on out there and the constant battle we have persuing out sport of choice. Enough is enough!...

now thats an excellent idea, atm we are basically in a situation where the members are thankfully not out of pocket but we may not be able to run a drag day in the future.

I think raising it as a letter to the minister is great, no doubt club days like SAU are half the reason that WSID was justified ie keeping these cars off the street. And the number of days they made available to us as alternatives at short notice make it clear they are not fully utilising the track.

BTW Paul we are looking to run the xmas cruise on 11 Dec. Will it rain that day? Or are your perfect forecasts only available the day after?

A sensible response Duncan...quite surprising...then you cannot help but be a d1ckhead can you....so here's the forecast...

Never rains on my Birthday, its either sunny or it hails (Singleton hail storm 1996)

Duncan & Paul, Paul & Duncan.

PM each other, work out a time and sell tickets. This may get the club out of a shortfall.

Anyway, it sounds a bit off that WSID Management will forego the cancellation fee on the understanding that we go away somewhere.

The question is..... where ?

The facility has been built for Drag events to ensure that these do not take place on the streets of NSW.

Sooooooooooo..... Why do we have to wait until next year ? Are our alternate spots taken up ? Is someone from the board retiring at the end of this year ? Are legal procedings underway ?

This is so confusing.

What and have another refund saga on our hands, it wouldn't last as long as the drag day!

If it is called off for any reason, I reserve the right to confiscate any Motor Vehicles owned by the participants.

No further correspondence will be entered into.

lol nice one....

Apart from the 10th or 11th December, what are the next available dates given when SAU cancelled on the 5th?

Looking at the WSID event calender, there would seem to be plenty of opportunity to have private track days. I would be willing to bet that this facility is not being utilised to its potential (in relation to non-public events).

Stacey is heavily involved with the Premier's department through her work so we will make some enquiries on what is the best possible course of action.

Not welcome back maybe they sould look around these forums and the forum who some times joins our drag days we make up alot of the import racing community.I think these need to jump off there high horse set the rules they want us to follow and let us race

Thanks blk, if they went back and actually read what was said instead of jumping on their high horse and mouthing off. I had an opinion that i thought that they could have waited longer and/or even consulted the people who paid (the drivers) for the track before making there decision. Only my opinion, it may not be yours, but shouldn't be ridiculed by "executive comittee" and their hangers on about it.

Paul, I'm not hugely interested in keeping this bullshit going, and I'm definitely not interested in fighting battles for Duncan (as many have said he's big enough and ugly enough to fight them himself- doesn’t need me to post on his behalf).

But I actually do take offence to your last comment about the exec committee and our "hangers on".

The highhorse/mouthing off comments are not all that friendly either.

By all means have opinions - I respect anyone who has one whether I agree with it or not- but please think before you post them.

Hell, even read them and try to imagine what the people you’re directing them at might think as they read them.

You have a go about the comments directed at you, but completely ignore the fact that your own comments could be viewed as derogatory (the way you’ve used the term "Hangers on" in this instance wasn't exactly friendly, nor was what you inferred).

And for the record, the exec and their "hangers on" put a bloody lot of their own time into organising the club - making phone calls from work to negotiate club discounts, accepting deliveries of club merchandise despite the raised eyebrows of bosses, pushing CAMs paperwork about, and, as Adam has proven, spending their days writing scary letters to WSID to make sure people get their money back when things don’t go so good.

I don't think any of the exec, or the “hangers on” expect everyone on SAU to bow down and worship at the alter of the great SAU club execs, but at the same time we don't get paid anything for doing this.

In fact, we don't even charge for things like fuel to get to meetings which many clubs do (I'm sure Dan and Shell would be far better off if we introduced those kind of rules).

All I'd ask is that you- well everyone actually- extend the same courtesy you expect of others- think of how what you're about to say could be viewed before you type.

Organising a BBQ and hiring a venue for the Newcastle cruise.. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=94348 ..why dont you come along...id love to see you face to face!

....and can you let me know if any kind of expectation has been set (particularly with the venue you're hiring) that this is an SAU NSW Club thing?

If this is the case we'll need to organise CAMS permits which the exec can help with.

Not sure if I'll be able to attend given I think I'll be travelling, but best of luck with it (see, us Exec Members can say nice stuff).

Oh it's so much fun running a club isn't it?

Duncan, Adam et al I feel your pain. :D

Glad WSID offered a full refund.

Let some water pass under the bridge and try for another day. benm has the right idea, write the letter after they knock you back.

Part of the reason why we are not going to push for a date this year is that a number of entrants have pulled out leaving us with around 30 of a minimum 40 entrants and not very long to get the rest.

Also WSID are yet to provide an answer to my request for a relaxation of this new rule on cars faster than 11.000. In fact I still don't understand how they can justify their stance given that these cars have previously been allowed and all they have come up with so far is that these cars 'are full blooded race cars' or something like that.

Firstly this rule excludes some of our club members, secondly it takes away some of the attraction of the day. I mean, sure we all want to go and race but we love to see two.06l smashing some 10's down the strip. It's part of the enjoyment of the day.

The other thing is that there are other club events to organise like the christmas party and observation cruise, skid pan day as well as a newsletter to get out and various other things. I just don't have time to stuff around with this any more at the moment. (Not to mention my work being very busy this time of year and the engine I've got to put in my car shortly.)

Better to start fresh next year I think.

I agree that starting fresh next year is the best option. There's way too much on between now and Christmas to try and organise another day at WSID.

For those that still want to race, there's always the Sport Compact meet at WSID on December 17th ($110 to compete) or good ol Wed nights at WSID.

I've never had a go at any of these Sport Compact meets before, but since there's no SAU drag day and i've still got the bug to race, i've decided to turn a negative into a positive and have decided to enter. I personally think it would be awesome if we could get a heap of Skylines out there and make a day of it :D

Adam, excellent work on organising the refund from WSID.

Look forward to the drag day next year :(

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
