Thanks dudes.

Actually the problem wasn't too bad except meggala sold me the car with broken head gasket and a bottle of chemi-weld. I didn't want more chemi-weld holding it together so I had the head rebuild with full Nissan vrs kit.

When the cams came out 1 ring thingy had a groove on it and one lobe had a chunk out of it so I got some cams from Anthony last night so I could have my car before the weekend.

Nic, unfortunately they're just stockers cos I couldn't afford anything else, which is unfortunate cos all this car needs is some cams+rocker arm stoppers and a safe 230rwkw here we come. Hopefully I'll pick up some power because what caused the cams to wear down was crap buildup in the head itself and that's all gone now. I had a look at the head and it's so cleeean... SO clean.

Other things being done are wheel alignment with more camber (4degrees.. which still isn't heaps) and caster (as much as possible).

The dump-pipe is gonna get some weld treatment too because the xforce dump pipe splitter has gotten lose again (common problem with them).

Just got the word too - it'll be ready tommorrow, which is a pity I was gee'ed at the possibility it would be ready today but it's still on schedule so I'm happy

*group hug*

lol

Well this is assed. Nathan rang me to tell me one gasket hadn't been included in the vrs kit and he had expected to get it in this morning but it's a no show... unless it gets there by 3pm and he gets time to do it I won't see it till tommorrow.

And then there's always the chance it doesn't get there today in which case I'm up the ass cos I won't have my car for the weekend... Nice of him to call and lemme know.

Pray for mojo.

Isn't 4 deg camber a lot for the street? Or don't you drive it often?

I drive mine to work everyday so i'm runining 2.5deg camber and about 8 deg caster with a bit of toe out.

When I got it it had about 8 deg. I had it put down to 1.5-2 deg which I don't feel is enough. I think 4 will be a good compromise - and I drive it a fair bit :(

:D Bruva.....long time no chit chat.... sorry to hear about the dilehma! But yeah Nath is a champ :) and will always look after you! Where i got my ceffie fully serviced and turbo / gearbox change..blah blah blah

At least yours is on the road (well sort of). Mine is an expense dust collector atm. To many things have gone wrong with it and I cannot afford to have them fixed atm. ECU fried......front passanger suspension fcuked, new coil pack needed....and on and on and on. :(

Will have to pop over sometime to say G'day....

Damn I ain't getting my car back today. The supplier got my gasket in but couldn't deliver (too late). Luckily Nathan has actually gone to pick it up so I can have the car back tommorrow.. what a f**king legend.

Just needs a couple of minor things done to it and hopefully I'll have it tommorrow arvo.

Good to hear tom!

We do need to organise a day trip or something... I can relate to the cefiro issues - One week Blew the diff out -

Then hit a large lump of sandstone on the edge of the road.

Now I have to get the front subframe cut, bashed and welded because its out 12mm which has pushed the right castor rod back and stuffed the way the wheel sits...

12mm sounds so little but stuffs up so much.

We should all have another dyno day some time!

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
