stock cams and afms is pretty good going for that kind of power. I was assuming maybe nismo afms mounted to the stock airbox, with maybe some 272/10mm or thereabouts cams in there :)

Mik actually ended up sticking with the 2.6.

I think money is a big factor in a build like this.

Actually Mik, i made 305awkw on crd's dyno, but at something like 19/19.5 psi, which i didnt think to be safe on a stock car. And we made 315rwkw on bel's dyno with what i reckon to be another 15-20rwkw to gain (hopefully).

This car sounds absolutely awesome. Particularly on the dyno when it starts spooling. The power curve picks up ridiculously after about 4-4500 rpm

Nope Nismo AFMs and the stock airbox. I don't think it would have this much mid range with wild cams like that.

Who told you that ? I think i should know whats in this engine , i helped Mick assemble it and put it in the car !

Just another interesting point. The guy we use to do cranks checked my new jap crank fro starightness befiore I used it. He said it is the straightest new crank he has ever seen out of the box. He said that most yankee cranks ( mostly v8s) usuallly have a couple of thou runout.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...ic=97771&st=0

What crank is it?

are you going to tell us how much boost was used for the run?

I don't think he wants to tell the truth as to what specs or boost its running

The thread is just so we can all say WOW look at your power and how your turbos aren't to laggy when its probably not even RB26 stroke anymore I say close the thread its a bunch of crap

It's a forged semi counter 73.7mm Jap crank of unknown origin.

well you did say in the 3 litre thread

"The guy we use to do cranks checked my new jap crank fro starightness befiore I used it. He said it is the straightest new crank he has ever seen out of the box."

well what did it say on the box....my bet is it would have came in the same box as the rods and the pistons.....im with bu5ter on this one....why the smoke and mirrors?

wait wait I forgot its got a stock airbox aswell oh WOW your amazing, forged crank and what ever else but lets just talk about the airbox so it makes you look even better

Whatever mate...When did I talk about the airbox??

And I don't answer to capitals.

For anyone else that want to know...boost on that run was 1.45bar.

haha...there is nothing on the box...do you want to see it? Your welcome to drive down to sydney and take a look.

And the pistons and rods definately came in a seperate box.

so whats the deal here? Mik, people obviously think your are telling furfies, why would you want to post your results then lose credibilty for appearing like your not telling it as it is?

My opinion is that the setup is making full boost far shy of 5000rpm, which would be some feat given other 2.6's with GTRS's make full boost (1.3bar for eg) at at least 5100, 5200.

id love SK to drop his views, as once he has a look at the graphs and does his maths, all will be revealed!! :D

dont get me wrong, not trying to bag your credibility, just would like to see all the facts.

My old set up (bog stock, tired 86mm bore engine) and GTRS turbines made 1.4 kgcm^2 boost at about 4750RPM.

    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
    • That worked out PERFECTLY! Thank you big time to JJ. He was able to swap me his stock diff. He drove all the way to me as well. Killer! Removal & install was pretty straightforward. The diff itself is HEAVY. So that’s a 2 man job.  Man does the car drive nice now! Couldn’t have worked out any better 👌
