My boss from work has challenged my "JAPANESE CRAP" to a race. Loser pays for dinner for 8people at a restraunt of our choice (so it will probly end up being a $2000 - $3000 race)

Just want to know wot are my chances? I have an R33 GTR with slight mods -

- Blitz full exhaust system

- Blitz boost controller

- Blitz Air intake a filter system

For now thats all ive put on.. havent had a dyno so i dont know the exact horsepower. could ne1 give me an idea of my horsepower, ill b running about 15 or 16 pound.

Wot are my chances?

A C55 does the 0-400 in around 13.5 seconds.

Being an auto car the 0-400 times won't change much due to driver skill so you just have to make sure that your R33 GTR beats this 13.5 time (which it should do easily).

HAHA, IMO you'll win, just whack some Nittos (or similar on) and blast from the "lights" or whereever... AWD grip, can't beat it... Put it this way, dependant on the "race" it will either be very close, or you'll decimate! If you want "factory stats" Check This do the homework, and make a decision... It'll be interesting for sure!

Take it to calder as well, see what you can get your time down, this you can practice launches and rev/gear changes nice and safe and legal :D

y dont u just say, if you win its dinner, if i win 3k in me pocket ??

question, where are you racing and what sort of race.

If its a race from 0km/hr you should beat him up to about 250km/hr. Anywhere close to or past that, the big V8 S/C should start reelin u in. If its a rolling start and it being an auto, if u start off in the wrong gear, you are gonna get munched :D

with those mods, if you are a good driver and know how to launch, you should run a 13 flat or quicker @ 106-109mph, as a minimum - thats if you had a power FC.

If you dont, you should run a 13 flat as standard at probably 105mph

You have not listed a power FC there, so your power will definitely be down. the stock ecu runs it very rich, and as a result your power level will drop. I dont know if the stock ecu will like you running 1 bar of boost ?

All I can say, is that only race him from a standing start and you should be fine, DONOT race him rolling, ie from about 60ish, and you'll find out, what the Merc. engineers are good at, "Fast straight line tuners"

and the Merc, gets faster as speed rises. It's the natural evolution of new car engineering and aero.

Jerry, I would assume nobody would modify a 2005 C55, particularly not if its his boss.

I dont know about that Tommy , i know of Porsche GT2 thats geting bigger turbos !!! So who knows ?

Thats like saying a SL65 is only a lowly merc Tommy :D

I know of a couple of modified E55s going around that'd give most GTR owners a scare!!

Like Brett said you will need to be careful - its almost impossible not to drive an automatic merc fast :D

well not really. An SL class merc in the base form is still some decent pocket money.

But yeh i know what you guys mean ! :D

Like everyone else has said, stuff up the launch, and you will pay. If you want, I can drive it and get you 1.6 sec 60 foot launches :D

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
