Nismo Engine Mounts

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Had a quick hunt around but couldn't find anything definitive.

Was looking at changing engine mounts in my R34 GTT at some point (when they wear a bit more) and wanted to know if anyone has advice on using the Nismo mounts or going with stock Nissan ones. I know there obviously stiffer and all that, but what real world difference is there? How much vibration increase is there? And do you feel any more engine torque through the car body as the engine twists?

Thanks

The Nismo Competition Parts Catalogue states,

"By increasing the hardness of the rubber used in the mount bush, resistance to damage is naturally increased, as is engine shake and lean during acceleration/deceleration, braking and cornering: this provides improved accelerator response, shift feeling and cornering performance".

If they accomplish the above, my only additional comment will be that there should be less heat in your tyres.

I've gone from stock rubber bushing to cusco polyurethane ones in my S13. the engine response is fantastic cos it hardly "rocks" anymore and all the power is transmitted immediately to the transmission BUT ur chassis will vibrate more too (low freq vibrations)...u can see it in your side and rear view mirrors. After a while i hardly noticed it anymore... but some ppl might find it nauseating?

as for the nismo ones... its definitely stiffer than stock....but for the price, i personally dont find it worth it. thus i went for the cheaper and even stiffer cusco ones

So after looking through threads, some say it will raise the engine. Some say it won't. I already have a engine damper, I'm wondering if I should go nismo or oem. The price difference is not a factor, there's a 40$ difference. I'm leaning toward the Factory because i don't wish to have clearance problem, but I thought it would be fair to take 5 minutes and make sure I make the right move :)

Thanks!
