Try Precision Turbos at Wetherill Park - I think Dale ran one - not sure if they do the install. Ours died at about 245k and we decided on the Intense Billet - Scott did the install in Melbourne. Very happy with it.

M35 + R34GTT front brakes- will ARX wheels fit?
karter replied to andynogo's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I have R34gtt brakes on an 2001 ARX - the standard wheels didn't fit and I used V35 wheels - I think AXIS wheels fit. We trimmed the backing plate and had to grind a tiny amount off the hub (or knuckle - not sure what it's called). We didn't swap the brake lines and it took about two hours to do the conversion including having the rotors machined and the tires swapped. Definitely worthwhile.. -

Until they get it sorted a google search for 'Stagea Parts Classifieds' will take you there.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?

After 230k the turbo finally gave up – it was most likely the original. Trucked the car to Hampton Park and Scott replaced the turbo with an Intense Billet RS modified to suit the standard ECU – it runs less boost but I don’t have a boost gauge yet so not sure what boost it is running – maybe 9 or 10psi. Drove back to Canberra in 40 plus heat in that Victorian heat wave with air con on and it never missed a beat, didn’t overheat and didn’t lose any coolant - the cooling mod probably helped. Scott also did the brake mod, replaced the oxygen sensor and installed a boost controller. A few days later we replaced the exhaust with a Legalis R - Scott installed his dump pipe and front pipe on an earlier visit. Very happy with the result. Now thinking about an HDI Max Rom. -

Upgraded ARX brakes with R34GTT brakes and V35 wheels. Pads not bedded in yet but it feels way better than the slotted and dimpled rotors and EBC reds that were there before. Also replaced the AFM to resolve the issue with the intake let temp sensor (code P0110). -

May was a big month for the ARX – finally had the head unit replaced with a single din Pioneer and Kanatechs fascia. For the benefit of Canberra Stagea owners, BDL did the install. Then a gearbox flush and off to Scotty’s Customs for a dump pipe, front pipe, cooling mod, new plugs, rocker cover gasket replacement and attessa, transfer case and diffs fluid change. Well worth the trip. -
I have an ARX with BCs – don’t know if they are fully extended but front and rear is just under 71cm ground to the guard.

About 40 years ago - Wangaratta was a different place then.

well, that would be me - on the way back to Canberra after having work done by Scott in Hampton Park last week - saw your car in Burke St - I lived in 115 Burke St last century and wanted tto see the house again but house has gone, replaced by town house- and I have a receipt for the car and all the papers. Your car looks good.

I bought R34GTT front calipers and rotors from Skyline Spares a couple of weeks ago - the same price (plus freight) and they came with new pads - they may still have some.

I haven't found a set of R34gtt front brakes yet and in the interim I've gone for slotted and dimpled rotors (f&r) and EBC pads (they were in stock, QFM weren't) red on the front and green on the back - difference to standard brakes is night and day and the rotors haven't warped and the vibration has gone. Boiled the fluid coming down the Clyde the first time and went to a higher temp fluid. The brakes still aren't as good at the bottom as they are at the top and you have to drive accordingly. I understand the R34 calipers won't fit under 18inch ARX wheels - what sort of wheels will I need?.
-
I've done about 20,000k on one of Scott's replacement AFMs - it runs a little richer (8k per litre vs 8.2 on the original) but I've had no issues (I have two spares in the car just in case - that should guarantee that it will last forever). The car is not modified (2001 ARX).

The What Do You Put In The Back Of Your Stagea Thread?

rear opening is about 70cm high - and if the kart is a Rotax it will weigh about 80kg - Yamaha engined maybe 20kg less. They will fit into a 6x4 trailer with the rear wheels moved in or removed. Good luck and enjoy the karting. -

not without cutting the kart in half - assuming it is an adult kart, even with the wheels off the rear axle is about 1030mm, probably about a metre high to the top of the steering wheel - a bit lower without wheels - not sure about the length but our Rotax DD2's take up most of the room in our trailer which is 7 feet long - a bit shorter if you take the nose cone off. With side pods the kart is about 1300mm wide. Getting it in would be a big challenge. A clubman or national class kart is a bit more compact but the main dimensions are pretty much the same. I you need precise measurements of the kart let me know. -

John at Trojan Motorsport in Mitchell knows a thing or two about Stageas - I'd recommend him.. -
Pics of repair are attached - complete with 10k of road grime.

The guys welded plates on both sides - I'll post photos next week - the tinkling noise might confirm my mechanic's theory that the shock mountings had loosened over time - I was getting some metallic knocking in the rear (on the move) but couldn't find anything loose - the shock mounts get a thorough check at every 5k service now.
