  1. For outright performance they don't "own" an RB26DETT, though they definitely don't embarrass themselves - what makes them a particularly good buy is how cheap they are (at least in NZ) compared to an RB26DETT. They are even quite a lot cheaper than RB25DETs, which they in some respects are a bit better than.
  2. How much more than 300hp? The area of around 300whp-350whp I'd just go with a GT3071R. I haven't had a full tune as the car has had a niggling boost control issue for ages, its getting a bunch of stuff changed over the next month which part of the result should be better boost control. There are dyno plots on here of people using GT3076Rs though...
  3. Some of the quickest RH9 cars were running GT3037 (GT3076R)s, there is a guy over here in NZ running two of them on an RB26DETT and I'm pretty sure its getting under a decent head of steam by 5000rpm. Why not just go a GT42R though?
  4. I have a .63a/r, I have full boost ~3500rpm in 3rd - very hard to tell because it sweeps past those revs too quickly, which has to give some kind of idea of what its like Depends on which GT3037... the 56Trim GT3076R will spool exactly the same as a 56T GT3037 running the same turbine a/r. I think I'd be happiest with a .71, it spools REALLY quickly for the size with the .63 (easily quick enough) but the extra increase to .71 would probably make it a little more progressive and allow it to flow a bit better up high. Me and a mate actually drove each others cars back to back this weekend actually - he has a R32 GTSt with a S2 RB25DET running stock turbo still. Driving impression, his is way better than mine up to 2500rpm under foot... then 2500rpm to 3000rpm his is noticeable better but nothing exciting, then from 3000rpm onwards mine feels like its made up all the difference and is keen to show stock turbo who's boss.
  5. You can definitely get them in T3 flange for Skylines as well...
  6. Actually don't know anyone who has had a problem with one yet.... couple of high profile cars in NZ have been running them hard fine. Don't know much about that particular unit however.
  7. I still reckon from how my GT3076R drives that a bolt on GT3037 from HKS will meet most of those requirements. They will pull hard to redline, have excellent response, make good power, and have an awesome midrange whack. If I did it all again, I'd not go smaller than a GT2835/GT3071R but not go bigger than a .82a/r GT3076R.
  8. Niiceee.......... guessing thats going to go quick.
  9. Looking very nice. I have a friend who likes the way the GT3076R behaves on my RB25DET and wonders what it'd be like on a 3litre. Well we both do... as I'm yet to 100% decide what to do when I get to the rebuild stage.
  10. Nice - how is this coming along? Are you running one of the 56-trim GT3076Rs (with the anti-surge cover)? It'll be really interesting to see how you find it on the RB30.
  11. Yep, my GT30R was exactly the same - quite a bit smaller.... I almost wondered if it was deliberate so instead of over shooting it'd undershoot the size of any manifold it was attaching to, and you could match it to suit from there.
  12. Woowww.... Thats insane. Well, there's a new record for a DOT tyred Skyline as far as I know. And plenty more in it by the looks, amazing effort man!
  13. Hmm couldn't find much on my quick look. I'd shoot for a 50-trim T3/T04E with .48a/r turbine housing. They're pretty reasonable spool wise for a T3/T4E and are capable of some good power. Not to mention cheap: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=TBN
  14. Haha, like "7S AWD" or whatever it is?? John Shepherd's full chassis Mitsi Talon in the states, best time is 7.7s running a 4G63. Its far more like its original form than the HKS GTR or the Heat Treatments GTR.
  15. Dyno videos are quite boring - but ok. What about a youtube video of your car just going vid? I'll do one when it goes on for its full tune, but here is one done while in the "working through bugs" stage... its venting externally as part of an elimination process to find out what the cause for wastegate creep I have been experiencing is. The conclusion is the wastegate hasn't been getting enough flow, as it still creeps and you can hear when the wastegate first opens that its not actually letting much gas by until the turbine actually starts getting a bit of pressure so have had to rework how the wastegate bypasses gas past the turbo. In the mean time it has been road tuned to make sure its running semi-ok and to trace how much creep it gets. Anyway, clip of a couple of runs on our bit of test road. Vrooom?
  16. Forced performance use the rated lb/min flow of the compressor for their naming... So GT30 turbine with 52lb/m compressor. Their FP3065 is more like a GT3040R. They run the familiar .60a/r antisurge compressor cover...
  17. Dredging up an age thread - I haven't found any evidence of reference to it so I'll assume it hasn't come up.... from what I understand, the FP3052 from Forced Performance in the States which is frequently used on EVOs is effectively a 52trim GT3076R and they are pretty easily obtained.
  18. A 4cyl running 6s inferior? Got a bit of confusion there? Loving the Pantera background music.
  19. Oh oh oh PLEASE have it run at an NZ meet before you leave
  20. Sorry - hard to be light hearted on forums... It wasn't meant to be as snarky as it looks. Its a bit hard to get a hard fast rule on wastegate sizing, something I've been struggling with myself. There is another guy aside from myself using a 38mm on a GT3076R who has boost creep on this forum. He has a .82a/r turbine housing but is using an XSPower manifold. I am using a factory exhaust manifold and an internal gate style turbine housing with my wastegate mounted off the 38mm internal port. I've definitely not ruled out that there isn't enough flow getting to the wastegate, but I considered it worth noting.
  21. Well no kidding, but how do you define what too small a gate is? That rule you said seems a bit too much of a blanket one. If you ran a T51R on a 4k I doubt you'd have issues with overboost, even with no wastegate.
  22. How does that work? All a wastegate does is relieve pressure from the turbine housing effectively - isn't it? I'd have thought it'd be fair to say that a large turbo, especially with a large turbine housing on a comparatively small motor running low boost wouldn't need much of a wastegate at all. Back in the day didn't turbos not even have wastegates, and the sizing was basically done such that they just free boosted - you lived with whatever you reached if you gave it the beans. For what its worth, my car has issues with boost creep (still ) with a .63a/r GT3076R and the thing falling over high in the revs is DEFINITELY not an issue I have. Running a .6bar spring it has hit 20psi by 6500rpm and was still climbing.... hmm...
  23. Well, it'd have to spin fast enough to move more air than the engine can - which is usually quite a bit... so until it is moving more than the motor would pull through, its actually a restriction
  24. 0-200kph is an odd kind of requirement - but for 700hp, and for under $2k... http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=BCS
