  1. Yeah Mat showed me that, awesome! The STM one is pretty light btw
  2. Oops yeah sorry I wasn't saying that you would go near 180mph... I still think those cars are lighter and possibly generally more hard core set up to run those higher traps so not apples and apples, but still pretty amazing stuff compared to what people were doing similar times and traps with not that long ago considering.
  3. Wow awesome, good progress! Looking good, it's still no wee baby by the looks. Good luck with the rest of the fabrication, hope they can sort something out Exciting times!
  4. Fwiw FP's closest equivalent to the PT6870 has pushed a couple of AWD Mitsis to very low 8s and over 180mph in cars which probably aren't hugely different in weight to your car, 168mph shouldn't be a massive ask from a PT6870 by any stretch
  5. So a new late model EVO record has been set today - STM in the US raced their EVO 8 RS drag car which runs a .85a/r T3 Super 99 HTZ at Maryland International Raceway and started out the day running a loose 8.7 @ 181mph and gradually whittled the times down, first breaking the 4 year old record of 8.34 @ 169mph with a 8.28 @ 178mph - then taking it further down with a 8.09 @ 182.5mph with a 1.4s 60ft. It has definite 7s power, just needs to hook a bit better but probably less and less likely with the temps dropping quickly over in the US. >180mph on a T3 turbo.... there are a lot of people who raise eyebrows at some of the dyno figures thrown around for some of these turbos, but that is HAULING!
  6. Yeah those numbers seemed high for a 6766 on a Mustang, though I am still shocked that people are taking hp ratings as some kind of gospel. How much did you make atw on your old GT3076R? And what are GT3076Rs rated at? The 6870 is certainly looking the goods, no matter how you slice it. Would have loved to have seen FPs Super94/99s on more things - they are in T4 twin scroll and imho until this came along the best thing since sliced bread for the ">6766 power without going BIG frame".
  7. Yeah it was yours I was thinking of - in their case power hardly gained but they lost a decent amount of spool
  8. Try searching for GTW3684R or GTW3884R I'm not sure on all the specifics of what is coming out, but they should start emergying pretty soon, as far as I know... it's certainly not going to be like the EFRs!
  9. Yep, quite interesting. All results were impressive, though that particularly made me think of the GTX3067R result someone on here got.
  10. OK so the Precision PT6870 CEA is out now - from the initial testing it is serious serious serious business, ultra impressive. See here: http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?859938-PTE-6870-CEA-GEN2-Test-Results-by-Sound-Performance PT7275 versus PT6870 (all testing on the same engine setup): PT6766 versus PT6870 Spool comparison: Those dyno results are all "max effort" on a good motor and high ethanol percentages, so likely to do them all justice. The spool and the relative power versus the 6766 and 7275 impress the hell out of me, nuts.
  11. .... internally gated GTX29 series.... see why I mentioned Disco..... Not sure wtf the GTX2871R is about, assuming they will do a GTX2971R.
  12. Lol I only sent that to MickO a few minutes before you posted it, hive mind? If the EFR is too big, there is always this recent release: It's only a little T3 turbo - how bad could it be?
  13. This: Don't read anything, don't look at any pics, just order!
  14. You won't find anything, yet - but trust me, there will be stuff soon. I'm figuring you know me well enough that I won't say something like this unfounded As a general idea, expect to see gaps filled in the Garrett turbine range... for sake of arguement, between GT28 and GT30s, GT30s and GT35s and GT35s and GT40s - and where necessary, the compressors to suit the matches. An interesting one for example will probably be the GTW3476R
  15. So the GTW-range has been officially announced - keep an eye out New turbines and compressors, something new for everyone. Good to see!
  16. If everything downstream of the engine provides the same resistance to a given amount of flow, but the engine itself provides less resistance to whatever is pumping into it (ie, turbos) then there becomes less intake pressure versus exhaust pressure... which happens to be one of the bigger influences on volumetric efficiency. I could be wrong, but there may be an answer to our turbine issues soon...
  17. Just a bit of a FYI, while I was discussing turbo options for a mate I was pointed at this - Owen Developments in the UK are partnered with FP and given they have an aftermarket more like ours, the range of FP HTA/HTZ based turbos they have are probably more relevant to NZ and Oz. Here are some which may be particularly interesting here: This beasty I reckon could be a neat "next step up" for those who an HTA3076 isn't quite enough but full GT3582R type madness is a bit too much: HTA2865: http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/product/430/Owen_Developments-Garrett_ODGT2865HTA/ ^ This and the HTA2868 for GTRs and Silvias... tbh I'd be particularly interested in the HTA2865 in twin form, not sure how it'd go but the 2868s have apparently worked well but I'd consider them a bit on the large side for most people's taste - especially with that turbine. HTA3073: http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/product/429/Owen_Developments-Garrett_ODGT3073HTA/ ^ This one should need no introduction, has been discussed but there has been question on if it is still done. It is, apparently The FP Zephyr HTZ compressor on a GT35 turbine, guessing this would be a very nice and probably better matched alternative for those who would otherwise consider a GTX3576R - HTZ3579: http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/product/389/Owen_Developments-Garrett_ODGT3579HTA/ These all have steel bearing cages, too.
  18. There are bound to be some somewhere, maybe worth giving these guys a shot if you want to go there. http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=tp&Product_Code=ATP-HSG-037&Category_Code=GTH
  19. Hmm that trap speed is WAY down, I was running higher than that with much lower numbers on a hub dyno - I was expecting at least 10mph more! Good luck sussing it out, hope it's nothing to major causing the lag etc
  20. You never answered what rpm you were launching at? The guy you were answering has a GTR, he may as well be the same as a GTS25t on slicks. On sticky tyres I was needing to launch mine over 6000rpm with a normal GT3076R. What kind of trap speeds were you running, out of interest?
  21. Not necessarily that - but possibly to similar effect in terms of frustration for the likes of yourself and Disco. We shall see.
  22. Have had some interesting conversations with fairly on the know Garrett associated people's.... which made me think of Disco. The impending releases may result in some interesting threads appearing
  23. So is it off to a drag meet or something? Be interesting to see how it goes, though with a bit more boost when it's sorted it could be well capable of surprising some folks
  24. Bummer. Promising start though? How was the spool on yours
