Which Camshaft For Responsive 2.9L Bc Stroker?
Lithium replied to HarrisRacing's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Barely a month to the day that its going to be a replay of last year - I am looking forward to further discussion on these things. Oh what I wouldn't do for a way of testing things like this along with a bunch of "top" off the shelf alternatives. -

On E85 that should be more than enough to make life VERY interesting Good luck with the rest of it -

Doh - sortof, what kind of lift? I'd say they are probably a better match for the turbo and the rpm you sound like you will be spinning to... 272s would be what I'd be going for if I were running a Super94 RB30 I forget, are you going to push a bit of boost through it? I am not sure you will be missing anything positive by having the 272s, aside from an angrier idle maybe! -

Totally missed this. Oops

Yes, the peak boost is at 7500rpm but that's not so much a factor of turbo lag as it is boost control - its boost creeping which is why it keeps climbing and ending up at it's highest there. Looks like the gate is opening at around 6000rpm, which is closer to your expectations and I'd say is probably more or less what you're going to get on an RB20.

Not sure how the Splitfires will get on with E85 on a setup like that - not that I have tested it, but mates who have run anything like that tend to have upgraded to something a bit more lightning spec. She's definitely quite a different engine combination. Those massive cams may end up making the turbo look a bit laggier than it could be - but I suspect it could still prove to be a bit of a monster, even though the Super94 is more meant to be a thing which uses boost rather than outright flow at lower boost levels to make its power. Very much looking forward to seeing how this comes out! -
Haha, was going to wait till its sorted and run all in.... also been bloody busy lately. Spool seems more or less PT6466 spool Whig is a good start. If it lives up to the HTA 3794 flow numbers then it's a damn good thing

Interesting, looks epic- looks like its expecting to be used with a more traditional "big power" style setup, like who cares about down low torque.... lets put a huge turbo on and rev the shite out of it The hope I had for the Super 94 is you won't need to, but that is definitely way more than sufficient to find the limits of the turbo haha. This is going to be very interesting, indeed. -

How did you decide on the cam size - they are actually seriously huge, you might need a bigger turbo -

Haha good idea, have been trying not to annoy the hell out of you but this is very close to my "ideal" engine spec for a nuts road/track/drag GTR build - those cams are pretty nuts though! Can't wait to see how this comes out, its going to be a monster. -
Sweet - will keep an eye out for when you make it

FP have been pretty busy, looks like a bunch of their range has been getting a bit of a make over - the HTA3076 and HTA3582 now have custom antisurge FP compressor covers with 3.25" intakes, and also their own turbine housing options, the HTA3076 has a .73a/r option, and the already known of .85 option for the GT3582R. Still hoping to hear results for the 6466TZ, though the HTZ range is growing - Rob has already confirmed a 79HTZ compressor and there are potentially others coming along soon. The new HTA3076s look like this: Can't wait to see how this beast goes?

That is a pretty hearty result, nice! I saw it on CT's page and assumed it would be E85.

Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?
Lithium replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah Roy, there definitely seems to be a pattern here. I know FP never used the L2 - they only use the TD06 or TD06H and between that and some of your results I've definitely been taking a bit of notice, the jury isn't out with me yet but I definitely am pondering on it -
HTA > GTX

Have man handled one which will be going on a car I'll be tuning some point in the future, so don't know how it performs yet and it's not going to be installed immediately but it is on the horizon so if this thread still seems relevant at that time I will update it. It is a 66mm one and at least looks the part!

Same question for you Is it an SL2 20G or actually a straight TD06-20G? Looking forward to results! -

Awesome result! When is 18psi reached? Is it just a TD06-20G or a TD06SL2 20G? -
Thinking Of Going Back To Twins
Lithium replied to arsnic_apple's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Why is it running "only" 19psi? The torque figure is largely going to be from the engine VE and boost level, all other things being equal. If you have a good exhaust manifold and tune then psi for psi the GT35R should be more or less capable of matching or bettering your typical -5 setup - at least until you start maxing it out (-5s probably have a slight peak flow potential). Sorting out the tune and raising the boost should see more to be had, any lack of torque isn't indicative of that turbo's potential - especially at that boost level. -
There are times I've seen NO difference in spool on the dyno and still a very noticeable difference in practical use - dynos can be quite misleading at times!
-
Really interesting result - way more power than you typically see on that boost on an Oz dyno. If that's a fair representation of how it goes, then very impressive!
