Hey guys, is there any tips for cleaning engine parts after stripping them off? I have been soaking them in degreaser and cleaning mine so far with good results, but is there anything else I can do to get them to come up like new? I was thinking of using CLR but it seems like a fairly general purpose product and not confident it wil do any better than degreaser. Thoughts??

thanks shanef! been searching before posting a bit actually, but the answers seemed to point back at using the std RB30 setup which it looks like you've done. I know the RB25 setup can be done tho!

Hey guys im finding that when fitting the RB25 oil / water cooler onto the RB30 block that the filter fitting is quite loose over the RB30 filter thread. Any tips for removing the RB30 filter thread and fitting the RB25 o-ring setup for the oil / water cooler. I'd prefer to keep it than just run it like the VL/R31 skyline setups.

Sent my manifold and turbo housing off to Stuart today for the black treatment, was only to happy to explain the process to me and was quick to point out a discount after I mentioned SAU. Will post up a few pics when they're back at home.

Ok people, how do I remove the plug on the knock sensor without busting it?? I've tried pressing it top and bottom, both sides, rocking it up down left right etc etc you get the idea, but the b1tch wont come off. It's the only sensor I have still left connected on the intake side engine loom

Ive tried some aussie parts which were substandard (I found King springs in my R33 werent that flash) Most are great though whiteline would be an example of good parts. I sill voted for Jap parts though as I have never had a bad experience with them, I put this down to the Japanese having more exposure to their own cars.

R33 doesnt have speedo cable its electronic!!!!!! Not to mntion his problem was with the tacho not speedo lol... Pretty sure its a cold solder joint or similar that causes it on the back of the dash cluster, just buy a new cluster off ebay or wrecked r33, alternatively, it gives you a good excuse to upgrade to a nismo 320km/h dash cluster

well I spoke to ricol, they said the rb30 pump was fine which is why they didnt replace it, I just thought since the motor was still on the stand i'd consider the option of changing it thanks for the replies

Guys quick question, my engine was built by Ricol Automotive and it looks like they've re-used the original RB30 oil pump. Since ive got the engine on a stand I figured I might as well bolt a new one up, but realise its too late to fit a crank collar. The RB30 oil pump from nissan is $1000 (just priced one) Can I fit an N1 pump and will it be ok providing I dont exceed 7k rpm?
