  1. +1 stay away from servo car washes and stay WELL away from those drive through car washes.
  2. Is there someone you really hate? Pretend to be them, add their car to the app.
  3. Why f**k around? Just strap a turbo to the V8. Plenty of kits are going to come out.
  4. thanks dudes. tbh with space savers on the rear i might still be able to drift the thing I'll settle for maccas trays tho
  5. So I've just bought an Evo 6 and I'm new to AWD life. I unfortunately blew out a single tyre in the storms over the weekend (hit a fkn giant pothole in the middle of Chatswood of all places) and I have a couple of questions about replacement. Tyres are pretty fresh RE003s, receipt states they were installed in Jan this year. How worried should I be regarding tread depth? If it's really an issue, I've seen a few forums talking about shaving tyres to match the others' rolling circumferences as well, I dunno how legit that is or if Aussie shops do this? In any case replacing all 4 tyres is a f**king pain in the arse when the good 3 are so new :[ Luckily I was 2 mins from home so didn't need to f**k around in the rain. I threw on the spare tyre at home and was originally going to head to local tyre shop for an alignment at the same time, but found the rolling circumference of the space saver is *way* out... it's like 10% off. That sounds pretty shit for the rear diff but I spose Mitsubishi know what they're doing..? cheers!
  6. I'm about to get some quotes for my 180.. last time I checked, I f**ked with every variable on the online quote app I could be 30 and a bunch of accidents in my history, with like 1 demerit point left before suspension and the price was in the 600s. But age 29 with perfect fkn record (which I somehow have) and its nearly $900 f**ks sake.
  7. that sold damn quick. I was about to see how much I could sell kidneys for on the open market
  8. Could be a hole somewhere and exhaust is whistling thru it
  9. Heads: Beyerdynamic DT-880 Mic: $2 store headset I got like 6-7 years ago The mic works perfectly and tbh sounds clearer than half my teammates
  10. Different, I like it. Obviously it's not optimal, but an optimal setup costs more money. Keen to see a dyno chart.
  11. Splitting water to get hydrogen is always going to consume more energy than you'll get back by burning that hydrogen afterwards. 2nd law of thermodynamics. If you figure out how to get around that, you're not developing an alternative means of propelling vehicles... you've actually managed to destroy the fundamental principles of physics. The 2nd law of thermodynamics is why time runs forward, and why the notion of cause and effect itself exists in the first place. It's kind of a big deal. Just looked up "HHO" gas and it's just a gaseous mixture of hydrogen and oxygen. Sticking a match into it is pretty much the same thing as just burning hydrogen in air. There are plenty more explosive mixtures, usually involving unstable substances or scary oxidisers (that are far stronger than oxygen itself). For example - if the Hindenburg was filled with TNT or say, elemental fluorine things would have quickly become very very interesting for everyone nearby. Also this shit: http://blogs.sciencemag.org/pipeline/archives/2010/02/23/things_i_wont_work_with_dioxygen_difluoride
  12. BNR32000453 .. assuming non vspec... but what about year and colour? thanks!!
  13. I wanna get into this but no fabrication or mechanical skills, or track time, just some decent pace in iRacing.... long way to go, hehe
  14. Damn... that's actually really cheap. Way, way cheaper than I thought. I need to look into this! edit: apparently you can bore out the engines and such. that would tend to increase the cost, lol. what % of competitors have done this ? how do they enforce some of the other restrictions on internals?
  15. thought this would be a thread about mixed flow turbines T_T
  16. I'm also a software dev and have been casually following this for a few yrs... and I'm not surprised at all. Lots of juicy targets once you essentially turn a car into a mobile, internet-connected computer. Any part of the car that receives data from the internet could have a security hole that would lead to system compromise, and from the sounds of it, everything in the car is connected via a CANbus network, where any subsystem can send commands to any other subsystem, so if you break into the entertainment system (via exploiting, say, a web browser), you can then directly access and disable brake-by-wire or whatever else. From the sounds of it, the security researchers seem to have found a way to do it without user intervention, which is somewhat more disturbing. Makes me suspect that they've exploited an automatic software/firmware update process for the entertainment module. Which is not a trivial process to create but not really rocket science, esp not for a multi-billion $ car company
