Running Tyre Review: Achilles Atr Sport
kingtube69 replied to kingtube69's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Another month on since my last post and I'm having to change tires. These aren't great in the wet and worse they turned to crap after a small bit of abuse - It looks almost as if they delaminated. I'll be replacing these this weekend. As per everyone else's posts.. You get what you pay for. -
Squeeling Noise Under Acceleration - Belts Or Something Else?

Mine was engine to manifold I initially thought it was a boost leak but it turned out to be a exhaust leak. -
Squeeling Noise Under Acceleration - Belts Or Something Else?
kingtube69 replied to ausdrift's topic in General Maintenance
I had screeching on boost, it was my exhaust manifold - I had 4 snapped studs! The video sounds similar to what I have. While you're working on your car grease your clutch pedal assembly -
Hi All, My reverse light switch is busted. I tested it today and i'm about 99% sure the switch is dead (lights only come on when gear stick is moved left a bit). I have 2 questions: 1) Where can I get another switch from? Someone said he has an S15 switch that should be the same? 2) How the hell do i get it out with the box on the car? I had a go today at getting under it and getting a spanner around it but it's too tight up there. I had a search around but couldnt find many details and no pics. Can someone assist? I know which switch it is just nfi how to get it out. Car is an R33 GTST with RB25DET Thanks

Many years later and this thread is still proving useful. I just reglued the contact in my mirror controller and it fixed it. Thanks OP and everyone else who provided help/info in this tread!!!!

Thanks coupe, I would love to go that crazy but I think I should stick to braideds and fluid for now Changed the rear pads over the weekend, no squeal at all.

Running Tyre Review: Achilles Atr Sport

Bald ones! They had next to no tread so there is no point. -
Get HKS Silent hi power http://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/product/exhaust/muffler/silent/ My mate has one on his 32GTST and it sounds good, not loud unless at WOT and seems to flow well.

Haven't bleed them at all, I've only owned the car for a month or two now. When I do the pads this weekend I might change the fluid. I was thinking about going to .4 as it says use .3 on it at the moment. Is there anything I need to know about changing . ratings? I've read somewhere you cant change from one to the other.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I know I will be told to use the search function and so I did. This may also sound stupid but I'm new to Skylines and aftermarket ECUs - I have a nistune ECU would I benefit from resetting the ECU?

I bought mine off eBay and they are great. Very pleased with the fitment and it looks very clean

R33 Cusco Control Arm Bushing

You could always contact a place like Just Jap tell them what Cusco part numbers are for the control arm and say you need the bushing. They should be able to help out -
Running Tyre Review: Achilles Atr Sport
kingtube69 replied to kingtube69's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So I probably should have updated this a bit more I'm at about 3,000 KMS on the tires now Initial impression of the tire was that they were a bit too slippery - This was because the grease on it from manufacture. Even in the dry they wanted to slide with ease. Current impression of the tire is they are great! As soon as they get some heat into them they become very sticky and can take a beating while still holding well. With that being said there is more to it than "WOW the tires are doing all the work" but I really like them. As with most tires on a RWD car they are average in the wet, if you're not careful they will slide no matter how hard you try to avoid it. I came up a slight inclined corner and it just slid straight out last week. Wear on the tires is "OK" Noise is minimal (quieter than my mates Feds on his Skyline) More updates to come in the next couple of thousand kms -
I had GCT on my last car and the one before that and I didn't really have any issues with them. I was pretty happy with them but the performance was a bit how do you do. I have the GCT on the rear of my car now (not sure what's on the front) and they didn't like the heat at all last night, After a few hard brakes they started to fade which I guess is expected, just more than I thought. Anyway, new pads come this week so I'll get the front rotors machined and swap the pads in the rear (Rotors were only machined <2,000 KMS ago.

I have a 33 and I'm assuming they are the same - I can confirm when I get home later tonight
-
After having my rear pads get to metal on metal shortly after buying my car I replaced them with *surprise surprise* bendix GCT as well. No shims because they were not on there and GCT don't come with them, rotors machined etc. I've ordered new pads that come with shims so I'll swap them in later next week and keep you updated.

Front Brake Problem, Help
kingtube69 replied to x-C00KIE-x's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Use an old pad and G clamp it should go back in. Make sure you open the cap on the BMC -
Hi All, I needed some new tires for my Skyline - I came across someone selling Achilles tires for a bargain price so I thought what the hell and bought them. This will be my running review of the tires themselves. I've read a lot of good but a lot of bad stories about them. I bought them more of a get out of jail tactic. Initial Review: Tires are sitting in my garage until tomorrow. The tread pattern looks similar to some tires I've had in the past on my old car (maybe same mould???) Specs on the tire sticker looks OK-ish. Stay tuned for reviews at various stages. If you've used these before let me know what you thought

Covering Coilpacks In Engine Bay

No one? -
Hi All, I want to detail my engine bay and I was reading horror stories about coilpacks getting busted by water and stuff. I know to cover alternators with bags or foil and small things with foil but I have NO idea how to protect the coilpacks. If anyone can shed some light on the best method that would be appreciated
