  1. the Pacific Mwy is one of the safest feeling roads i've been on in Australia. With the amount of lanes and things the speed limit could be much higher. Australia just needs to introduce regular driving and testing, which would make our roads 200% safer, however its never going to happen.. as too many people wouldn't pass.
  2. so u just gonna weld it all back together and stick it all back? good work, amazing what a weld job can do. i can't imagine putting the whole car back together pretty much from the shell can be too entertaining though!
  3. mb it will be better the 2nd time around? stories always get better in the subsequent tellings! actually, i have a feeling it wasn't an actual story.. i think u just made it up to pretend u have an interesting life
  4. knock sensor maybe? but that probably isn't a good idea.. as the ECU uses that to protect the engine if it senses detonation.
  5. haha.. he's left us the carrot, now he's gonna run off..

    Floods In Hawthorn

:bahaha: and i know where all that stuff is too like the back of my hand I so wish i was back there when it all happened.. i love chaos although here we had massive storm and trees falling over cars last friday. I went out for a drive 20 mins after it happened and there were like branches and stuff all over the road, trees blocking the main street. Saw 2 squashed cars and was thinking "hmm, somebody is gonna be pissed". It was like my skyline was on an obstacle course, was sooo cool
  7. .. was it a good story or bad story? hehe. I never trust these forums, had it happen too many times and it shits me up the wall and then some.. have to always copy before clicking
  8. I always thought if u attached some good sized heatsinks to the outside of the intercooler that may help dissipate the heat that it generates a bit? Very ghetto mod though, but wonder if it would work? Works on a CPU
  9. haha.. good Its about time for you to be defected and EPA'ed again isn't in Inasnt? Been almost a year now..
  10. I was gonna write up a guide in maintenance but never got around to it, but i did mine a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I'm not sure about the high temp stuff for that. I thought about it, felt it after a good run (can touch it, so its not over 100degrees). Its plastic, therefore I don't think it holds in as much heat as the metal engine components. Anyhow, its not a gazillian degrees in there, so just used normal can stuff ($2.50 a can) because i couldn't find the high temp in gold. One can of standard primer, and one can of the gold. I used a stack of coats (a whole can, lol) which may also aid in heat protection. For my intercooler piping i *did* use high temp as that seemed much hotter than the plastic cover. You prolly seen mine in my sig for a while.. came up well in the end... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost...&cat=500&page=1 still looks exactly as good as that now, with no signs of bubbling, cracking, etc. But will see how well it holds up into the future. Not sure about the sticker.. mine was still in good condition so I just masked over it, then used a stanley knife to cut to shape (see below photo). I think if you went over it, it wouldn't look as good
  11. god damn.. i'm getting a cefiro Mine never came down after first year.. stayed exactly the same (although it was pretty low to begin with for a modified GTS-T) and i've been rating 1 for 3 years. Think i should shop around again?
  12. damn garden gnomes!
  13. ..its the History Eraser Button.. don't press it..
  14. BWCP? some nice cars.. spot the damn attention seeking broad though! bet she's there every week "look at my car booooys..oh you!" know a few skylines to stay away from if i see them cruising the streets at least
  15. same with the 32 GTS-T.. don't be sucked into buying an 1989 just for the sake of it unless u can find one underpriced and with stacks of mods. I been thinking about this also, for my "undecided" future plans which change every 5 mins like everybody else My rec. is to get an AUTO gts-t... stock as you can find it. Seeing as nobody is after them the demand will be really low.. Just using yahoo as a rough guide, I think you could get a really nice one for around 200,000 yen. The auto's often seem to (well at least look) to be in better condition. If you find a 92 or something year, get it, bring it in under SEVS - the increased costs of compliance will be offset by the newer year, hopefully better condition, and less demand (coz people are stupid and want a 1989 just "cause" geoff says). If its an 1989, maybe something silly like $7k on the road.. maybe SEVS version $10k. Anyhow, then drive it for a bit, see whether u like it or not as is.. THEN.. pick up RB25DET w/ manual box and engine for around $4500 and get it installed.. sell ur old RB20DET for $1200 (plenty of ppl want em). Either way you'll looking at around $14k for a nice R32 with full RB25DET conversion with all the benefits the RB25 has.. and rip lots of people.. I wouldn't worry about condition like people are saying - an RB25 or an RB20 can be equally hacked after that time...but they're pretty strong, how many people do you read on here have a completely blown RB20DET without being stupid? (not many!) That conversion price looks great and is another option, almost too good! Wanna look into any hidden extras, and the 32 gearbox won't hold up as long as the 33 if they're just keeping that in
  16. yeah it works out to be about about $21k for a pristine 93 or so GTR as opposed to ~$17k for a 1989. When I worked that out I don't see why all these people running around like their heads cut off to get a 1989, its not like you'll never be able to bring in a 32GTR after the rule change...
  17. yup, time is money.. i wasn't really implying you were lazy just that its not too hard to do if you want to put in the time. The dash took me about 2 days work so i can see why you'd want to do get somebody else to do it if you didn't have the time!
  18. "stronger" as is in it lasts longer, thats what i meant.. anyhow, that is only their claim, but its not much more in price, and its blue As the timing belt gets older it can stretch, meaning it can throw out your timing .. one that doesn't stretch as much as in gets on in life would be better therefore I'd imagine. And the 100,000km "replace" interval is for the genuine nissan item.. don't mean there can't be an aftermarket that lasts longer and exceeds manufactur specifications. I would see it no different to the pricipal that: you can take thick rubber band and stretch it a lot and it will remain its elacity and less risk of snapping for longer than a thinner rubber band subjected to the same.
  19. zoix: don't be lazy and learn to DIY .. piss easy.. read my how to remove entire dash guide.. intercooler is even easier as long as you got a full kit
  20. I haven't seen any yet luckily.. the only ones that i did see were across the border in NSW where they have fixed cams in the overtaking lanes! in the middle of phucking nowhere! now that is screwed.
  21. check the maintenance section and do a search The bleed thingo dingo i think is irrelevent as you get the same results by leaving ur radiator cap off and letting it idle for a bit, then giving the throttle cable a couple of tugs. That should cause any air bubbles to rise to the surface and exit the system.
  22. I have experienced the same phenomena all around Australia and its not isolated to one particular area. I believe its related to age and "oh people are over taking me, better go faster". Its very baffling, and very annoying. Luckily being in a skyline it don't matter what speed they're going, you can generally overtake them quite quickly
  23. You're running no form of aftermarket management? Isn't the idea of a camgear to run more agressive cam angle? if the stock ECU is just adjusting its own timings anyhow (which i believe it largely does this off the A/F mixtures it "sees").. that would be expected wouldn't it?
  24. Well if you boyz ever wanna do it and fancy a nice long roadtrip up to QLD.. March 21st is the next one. $100, your car and a helmet up here is all you need.. and waltz straight out onto Queensland raceway, and drifto away.. but yeah, it can get a bit repeditive to watch.. i think its one you really have to be out there giving it a crack to get the full thrills

    EPA Noise Test

Yeah.. you always have got to be a bit cautious.. because the exhaust shop has something to sell you, but they're not always going to shark you. Plenty of jap. exhausts *are* way loud and don't meet Australian standards. Anyhow noods, it don't really matter who you take it to and what they measure it at, as long as they're an approved EPA noise tester and can write off your notice then thats all that really matters..
