  1. Yes I also noticed some ads mention a float charger but do float/trickle charger and then go on to describe trickle charging... What happens if I do get a flat battery? A float charger won't work then...what's the best thing to do? Jump-start or use a larger battery charger?
  2. Hi, I was having a look around for battery chargers recently, and many support trickle charging but only a few mention support for sealed lead acid batteries, or one of there other names Is it fine to just buy a super cheap auto charger or similar? I occasionally need to charge my battery due to not driving the car enough. The alarm can drain the battery within just over a week of not driving There are lots of chargers on ebay but only a couple mention sealed lead acid battery on the supported list of batteries... Thanks, Gareth
  3. Try to provide some notice of your event. I wouldn't mind a cruise. As long as its small and street legal, I'm not looking for police attention
  4. Nice bench! Speaking of which I recently read of 2 power-lifters been banned for 2 years for drug use for the use of....jack3d ! It doesn't do that much so unsure why the penalty was so harsh, but just thought you might find it interesting...
  5. Glad to here the belt helped and yes it will change the lift slightly in terms of which muscles are most used or at least the feel...that's what I've heard from 2nd hand information from a few lifters, not my own experience. Just be warned that a belt doesn't make deadlifts any safer, you can still get injured. So if there was something wrong without the belt, I'd fix that rather than getting a belt, just my opinion.
  6. Have you had an allergy test done? I had one done and found I was allergic to dust mites & cats. Unfortunately I live with both
  7. Ruzic torque split controller If you have a read of his manual he describes what he did, there are plenty of systems that just increase the entire signal by a % which isn't as useful as what he has done. Good luck!
  8. Straps, not to improve your grip....that won't help. Farmers walk would be great for you, but it might be a little tricky to do at a normal gym I strengthened my grip by deadlifting more, mainly mixed grip . And always with chalk at the heavier weights. Belts, I've heard from some lifters that they wear belts to gain on lifts, not to gain strength. Or that they wear them for comfort. One of these people deadlifts over 280kg. If your aim is strength I wouldn't be adding in a belt. And yes, my earlier posts were referring to powerlifters who use equipment. Equipped lifters are almost competing in a different sport to raw lifters, it changes the points where you have to be strong...although many of them are very strong.
  9. Sorry, I was referring to the elite/higher end athletes only. I should have mentioned that I was just saying in general, everyone deadlifts more than they squat, even elite athletes when they lift completely raw.
  10. We had that discussion at the gym recently, generally people squat more than they deadlift because they're using equipment and the equipment helps more on squats than deadlift's. The deadlift is very hard to assist in anyway. Although it does vary for people....strong is strong!
  11. Smith machines can be more harm than good at heavy weights. It will also cause problems with squatting, beyond creating a weakness from attempting to squat in an unnatural position
  12. Nope, knurling is the rough section of the bar (as opposed to the smooth section) The only mention I found was "grip markers" for those lines lol
  13. Nano, one thing I forgot to mention was to find a way to deal with it before it becomes a real injury. I've got a fairly large ganglion cyst in my right wrist which means I wrap to prevent pain from the wrists on most things now, even dips. The original cyst was caused through over-training and training through wrist pain while doing push ups and other exercises. I then made it larger by dropping a front squat and hitting the wrist on the way up At the weights your doing you should be ok, but as you get stronger the chance of injury becomes greater, which is why I'd recommend been a little preventative.
  14. My 195gram can of tuna in olive oil contains: 32mg EPA 155MG DHA Olive oil contains omega 3's, and its ~81% tuna, 19% olive oil. An omega 3 capsule contains a lot more than that, tuna is not a fatty fish, salmon is Ideally you should be balancing your omega 6 to omega 3 ratio, although I've never known how much omega 6 I'm getting through my diet so I've been taking a small amount of fish oil. EDIT: Possibly irrelevant but one of the benefits of omega 3 is lower inflammation levels. However, I've found circumin much more effective than anything else for that, its got my tendonitis under control
  15. Depending on the type of bar your using, the two markers on the bar will vary in width. I bench with my fingers just touching the end of the marker, on the knurling. On wikipedia it only referred to them as grip markers I have found that a particular angle on the wrist works best for me, you might have to experiment a little to determine what is most comfortable.
  16. I'm interested in what's heavy Unfortunately the wrist, like the knee, is an area of weakness that you cannot really strengthen, you can make the muscles around it stronger but I'd be wrapping it for protection. I've got: http://www.inzernet.com/detail.asp?product_id=WRAPS_IRON_WRISTZ Due to some issues with my right wrist I use them for a lot of things. I notice that someone was selling some similar looking ones for $35 in Australia recently. They were a bit thicker than the one I posted.
  17. Front speakers are more important than rear speakers. Dynamat is a great idea but its very time consuming so will quickly add to installation costs. I'd be asking a few audio shops how much it would cost to sound deaden an R33, its going to add a few kilograms of weight but it will make any speaker sound a lot better. I would buy the front speakers & dynamat only.
  18. Standard on pioneer decks as well, at least the older ones. The power for the antenna is constantly sent through even when using USB
  19. Ash have you had a look on caraudioaustralia / mobile electronics Australia? I've got an Alpine V12 amp (old school) and some second hand splits from their, the sound quality is very good....(but then there is the exhaust lol) If your looking new it does cost a bit for decent speakers.
  20. There is a Victorian sponsor who looks after SAU Vic members I don't know if he will come to you, you can go to him and get a very cheap price!
  21. Some upper back arching is ok, lower back rounding is not ok. Your technique sounds wrong...what's your stance like (width wise)?
  22. It is debatable. Some lifters do some don't. I've seen plenty of people do 250KG without a belt, others have been injured at some point and now only do heavy sets with a belt. However, even those using belts do most of their sets without the belt as it can cause weakness in some muscles. I've never tried using a belt.
  23. IRS was an "option" for most AU's. But the handling is better than an EF series 2, so most likely nicer than the EL as well Some interest turbo development Stao
  24. I found some chains here: http://www.gymdirect.com.au/product-search-result.htm But you would be bankrupt (and amazingly strong) by the time you looked like your above post.
