  1. Spotted 3 tonight on my way home from work. 2 of them within 50 metres of each other right next to Hyde Park. The first was a dark coloured 32 that I beeped at to say hello. Looked like it might've been a girl driving? Don't think they realised it was me beeping. Then just in front was an R34 GT in silver. This was at about 6:30ish in the evening. Then on the M2 there was another gunmetal 32 with rims. Plates were BCN-32P I think? I followed them for a while until I had to get off onto Pennant Hills Rd.
  2. Hahaha. That's too funny. I'm happy for you Wink. Put your name on the waiting list already?
  3. That thing is proper gorgeous, mate. Well done. I know it's going to bring you a lot of happy hours behind the wheel!
  4. Not really into that colour, but it's a neat looking 32, that's for sure. Like it mate. Don't sell it!
  5. It's in my diary so I'll make it there at some point. Not super fussed about getting a run or not, I'm more in it for the social side of things. It'd be nice to meet some of you NSW folk! See you then.
  6. Daamn.. That's one fine selection of Skylines. Great pictures, guys. Wish I was there!
  7. Spotted a black R33 on the M2 this morning as I joined it from the Cumberland Highway. Looked clean and tidy. Thought I might've caught the driver taking a phone camera snap of my car - could've been for this thread? EDIT: I think the rego was AZJ-93M.
  8. He mentioned just a couple of posts up that it has coloured wiring coming from it (which you can see in the photo, too).
  9. I've got a 32 with the antenna built into the windshield, how come they didn't keep on doing that with the 33s as well?
  10. I've been making a list of possibilities for weeks now waiting for that perfect idea to come into my head that might actually still be available. And now, lo and behold, I've actually decided on something! And what's more, it's not taken! Should be ordering it this week. I'm excited. All will be revealed once it's locked in and definitely mine! Don't want it to be stolen..
  11. Damn! Those figures are massive! True enough that Dyno Dynamics do run a little 'happy' but not enough to skew the results completely. Plus almost everyone uses the same system now so it's not so much of a variable when comparing results. Not sure on any similar figures, but congrats! That's some impressive power.
  12. Oh yes.. Yes, yes, yes. I like it. Keen to see some quarter times from this little guy. The blue interior is a nice touch as well.
  13. Tough break, mate. I saw you on the phone too and figured you were just pulled over to make a call. But hey, upside is you got spotted!
  14. Actually I've got 2 more as well: Black R34 GTT (I think) works in my complex in Mascot down the end near the multi-coloured wall. Don't really want to give the address or names of the surrounding companies, but if it's anyone on here they'll know where/who I mean. You might've even seen my black R32 parked at Unit 6? Also, there's a gunmetal R34 GTT that lives right around the corner from me on what I think is Oakes Rd (?) in West Pennant Hills. White rims, looks clean. I think the guy used to have a white R33 that was smashed and dismantled out the front of this same house.
  15. No worries, you were a few cars in front and I was heading further along the Eastern Distributor anyway.. Next time. Spotted a white R33 pulled over on the side of the highway heading towards the Harbour Bridge at North Sydney this morning (about 8am). Also spotted another white R33 on the side of Windsor Rd in Castle Hill somewhere near Victoria Ave and Norwest Boulevard.
  16. Yep, heading up the distributor towards the city. Exiting off towards Mascot.
  17. In my uneducated opinion, I'd say you're fine to drill out a bit there. The doors aren't going to fall apart or collapse if they're missing that little bit, just do the job properly and don't butcher the doors completely. My parcel shelf has been hacked at to get 6x9s in it by the previous owner. Looks like they went at it with tinsnips or something. Dodgy.
  18. Car audio is a funny thing like that. It really all depends on the sound that you want. You really do get what you pay for, but it's a hard thing to measure because it's really only up to the persons ears. Some people will buy one set of front splits that cost more than your entire setup, but does it really sound that much better? Very subjective thing, that. MTX isn't the best brand out there, but it sure as hell ain't the worst. I think if you've listened to the components and like the way that it all sounds, then that's a good price to get it all done and sorted for you.
  19. Well it's been a really long and irritating process, but all my car audio gear is now in the car and fully functional! It's a good feeling. The components are: - Pioneer DEH3050UB Headunit - Hertz ESK-165 6.5" Splits (Front) - Kenwood 6x9s (Rear) - Alpine MDR-450 Amplifier (4x70 RMS) - Kicker CVR12 Sub & Sealed Enclosure So I bought the headunit and replaced that a few days ago after first buying the car, just so that I had something that looked like it fitted in with the rest of the car. It's got the right coloured lights to match the dash. I didn't take any photos of that, as it was straight forward and we all know what it looks like. I actually haven't taken as many photos as I should've. The wiring for the amplifier was pretty well done, if I do say so myself. But alas, there's no pics. Anyway, you'll get the idea. First up I had to make the mounting pieces to go on the doors to hold the splits up the front. Didn't take too long as I based it on the diagram found here. The mounting points are different for every car and even further they're different from passenger door to drivers door. Reason being, I think, is that they're just drilled in roughly the right area with self tappers by whoever happens to be building the car in the manufacturing plant. Anyway, cut them out and mounted them up. Next I had to run the wiring to the door through the standard loom. I cut a couple of corners here and just ran them through the rubber grommets next to the loom. Saved a lot of time and cursing and works perfectly well. Then I mounted the tweeter behind the wing mirror at the top of the door aimed across at the drivers seat (the way it should be done, with the drivers side tweeter aimed at the passenger). Then drilled the holes for the woofer and mounted it up in the new spacer plate that I'd made earlier. Repeated this process on the drivers side and then ran some dodgy ghetto backyard specialist wiring to give it a test run. All working sweet, so I put the door trims back onto the doors having used split pins in the lugs on the backs of the speaker grilles to make sure they wouldn't pop out. So far so good, it all went back together without too much trouble (a little tricky with the tweeters on the corner pieces behind the mirrors, but definitely doable). Here's a pic of the drivers side completed. You can only tell because of the tweeter being there. Next up I wanted to mount the amplifier. I didn't want to mount in the boot like I normally would. Instead I opted for under the drivers seat. There was enough clearance and it makes a nice change for me. I ran the power cable in through the wheel arch from the battery, the wiring for the splits ran down the middle under the centre console and then under the carpet to the amp. The RCAs did the same (with the extra length coiled and secured under the centre console). I then grounded the amp with a short length of cable to a filed down spot where the seat mounts to the floor. It all works an absolute treat now that it's tuned and I don't need to touch it! It's powering the front splits and the sub in the boot, with the headunit powering the rear speakers in the parcel shelf. Finishing touch was to run another length of cable under the carpet and up into the boot for the sub. Easily done and capped it all off nicely. The sound from the whole setup is top notch, in my opinion. Very pleased with it. All in all, a satisfying days work. This is probably the most attention to detail that I've ever given to an install, and it's given me good piece of mind about. I know that everything is mounted properly and secure, and that it's not going to stop working anytime soon! Thought you guys might like to check out my progress..
  20. I used this yesterday to get my install done. It's all ended up working well but the diagram needed some modification. I think the mounting holes for the OEM speaker bracket are done after manufacture by whoever is screwing it in, so they all end up in a slightly different place for each car. Either way, the diagram really helped so thanks a lot.
  21. Great project thread. The bodykit isn't for me either, but you've obviously got real dedication to the car, and I can respect that!
  22. Give Famous a go. They're a fair bit cheaper than Just Cars and should quote you. The number is 1300 88 60 29. Otherwise, read the other thread.
  23. Spotted a F430 in Parra earlier this week, and a silver R8 on the Harbour Bridge on Wednesday night.
  24. Amazing. The quality of the workmanship is through the roof! They look better than they did new.
  25. Spotted a white R33 this morning. It was parked behind the flats on the corner of Wentworth Ave and Botany Rd, Mascot. Rego was XPG-260, from memory. Also spotted a black 32 leaving the Eastern Distributor last night about 6:15pm. You were in front in the traffic a bit, so didn't get a good look.
