Went to the drags last night, did a 14.4 and popped the motor. FML
-
Who did you order through?
-
Yep, but on another note, the 3D printed airbox can handle the heat haha. PM me about the STL file if you're still keen.

Figured it out after driving it home in the wind and rain with the temp not dropping at, so it had to be a flow issue and not a fan issue. I put a VQ35 one in there as it was listed as fitting. Yes it looks identical from the outside but the thermostat itself is different. I never pulled the VQ25 one off my old motor so I had no idea on the difference between them. The 35 (left) is longer but has a smaller opening, so it's not allowing enough coolant through compared to 25 (right)

Soooooo. I still have the issue and it's frustrating as f**k. Either the fan is not working when hot or the water pump is not pushing the coolant around enough. FAN THEORY: After about 1min of high idle it goes from sounding like a jet to a mouse fart and doesn't pull f**k all air in. WATER PUMP THEORY: If i drive it above 4000rpm in say second at 70kmh, the coolant temp drops 10 degrees in 30 seconds. So I'm thinking that it's flowing more coolant through the radiator, the temp sensor is actually getting more coolant passing over it and therefore getting a better reading. Although, these two problems are related whereby increasing RPM should increase fan speed and will increase pump flow so it could be either. Any suggestions or does someone have a spare viscous hub I can try out in Perth?

So it's back in business, no leaks so much success. Hob drive still says its overheating though but the gauge does not move whether it's 75 or 105. The new fan oil helped a bit but I think it might be a faulty sensor.

I would but i'll be on arvo shift. I plan too make it down there soon before seasons end.

So MTQ decided it would be good to reuse the aluminium washers which are all f**ked up and not flat. Thanks dream boats

I haven't had much luck with the car as of late. Noticed there was engine oil coming out from the bell housing and whilst under there, I also noticed oil coming from the turbo between the cartridge and turbine housing. Pulled the box out haphazardly as I didn't have a hoist and pulled the turbo back off too. I cut the rear main seal by accident when installing it on the stand without being able to see the back of the crank. Turbo went back to MTQ for warranty and they reckon nothing was wrong but replaced the oil seals. Fitted new rear main which is an absolute f**k to get in there and box and turbo back in for test drive. I put new viscous oil in the fan hub last night and it works/sounds like it's moving a lot of air now. Went to go for a drive, look under the car for leaks after putting it all back in andddddddd oil is pissing out of the turbo feed banjo. FML. I checked every fitting was tight before I put it back in so MTQ have done something there. So today I started pulling the turbo back off again to fix that.

Haha funny you say this. I literally just refilled the viscous hub last night with new 10000CST oil and now it moves a f**k tonne of air. Not much was in there. I figured it had to be an airflow issue as it was hot at 1200rpm but would cool down at 3500rpm

So I got the coolant bled to a point where I could drive it without overheating and run the engine in for 100km. Installed a GFB G Force 3 boost controller on a little bracket I made up that fits in the vent. I can monitor AFR later on when I put another sensor in and protect the engine incase it leans out. So many cool features with this unit. Also had a mate dip the grill in carbon fibre. Came out really good and matches nicely with the ARX kit.

Thermostat is part of housing so impossible to get it wrong. I did a full engine rebuild so it was bone dry. What's weird though is that it will sit on 104deg when driving but if I fluctuate the engine under light load in a lower gear, it will drop down to 93deg then rise back up.

Why the f**k can't I bleed this f**ked up cooling system. I'm about to drive this flamin mongrel into a pole. I have tried every single way possible for over a week and still it overheats or spews all the coolant out of the radiator funnel. I've searched on here and tried all the tricks you guys have used, all the tricks the 350z guys use, the old fashioned way and nothing works. I'm running the coolant bypass mod and have a tap on that with a funnel filled with coolant and it just continues to blow bubbles or fills up with coolant. I then tried the funnel in the radiator and cracking the bleed but the coolant just starts unloading when it gets hot. WHAT THE f**k AM I DOING WRONG.

Let me test it out first to see how it goes with the heat, then I'll look at selling the STL file if it doesn't melt haha It only just fit on the Makerbot Replicator bed so yours needs to be the same size.

Go speak to Danny at Performance Modifications in Osborne Park.

All sorted, put wires in wrong pins.
-
When the water hits the power steering belt it makes that weird noise. You can see the water spitting out of the radiator neck. Took me a few minutes to figure out what it was haha

Fellas, I need some help before I buy a new sensor. Can someone take a picture of their crank sensor wires so I can see if I put them in the right pins on the plug? I'm getting resistance on the sensor itself which leads me to believe it's rooted but just want to make sure first. Cheers

So I got it going today but have a few issues. Turbo coolant hose has split, kinda knew it would. Power steering keeps leaking at the pump so just going to use the old setup Crank position sensor is throwing a code so it could be f**ked It keeps overheating. Doesn't matter what I do, i can't get it to not overheat.

Got the airbox mod 3d printed and temporarily screwed it on as it's only minimum infill for trial. Fits perfectly and the cold air inlet sits just outside the main frame rail. Also modified the power steering reservoir by making my own bracket as it didn't clear the bonnet when closed in the stock one.
-
Haha, not payday until Wednesday and the power steering is leaking from a dodgy fitting.

Didn't happen today, battery is f**ked so need another one. Looks like next weekends job now.
