This is true. I apologies for my previous post, making such a blanket statement. They’re going to many with no rust to just a bit and then like my red one got it bad. I to own a second r34 that is almost factory condition was real barn find. No rust and all straight under the floor and on the chassis rails. Like you I plan to keep it that way.

I very sad to see the awesome cars suffering from time taking its toll. Sometimes I think of it like this the sooner I start the body restoration rust prevention the better I will at lest be ahead of every body else. Every body who owns a skyline that wants to keep it for the future will come to this work kicking and screaming. As a great musician once said "Rust never sleeps, Neil Young". Then with the prices of theses cars going up so fast its making this work worth while. this is what she looks like on the outside.

I have spent many hours under the car I pulled it apart before I got the RWC for the owner transfer. YES there is rust in other places. Soon as I have finished the strut towers I will show you where else. I intend to remove as much as possible and treat what i cannot. Then just manage things as years go by. The other point is no accidents damage that i can find she is nice and straight all the panels and door line up looks great on the out side.

I am only a weekend car fixer up guy just learned a lot of DIY car repairs over the years. When I started unpicking the spot welds and saw the damage I got a little cold sweat happening this is a bit outside my pay grade. What fazed me was the top plate that needed replacing was under 3 other layers of panels. Just like the JDM guys in the UK they need to be removed. That link to the UK Restoration on the R33 was very helpful they have covered the job with so many great photos I was able to plan and get off cuts I might need. Thank you for the links to that page DaymoR32. I almost purchased the new panels from them but I knew I would need more of the steel around that area and landed in Aus the top panels would be 600 dollars or more and I might f**k it up so best to go with second hand off cut.

I think you are totally correct. This is one is going to be my daily driver my fun car being a turbo and It was cheap for a GTT. I purchased the car knowing what was a head for restoration . My other one is one owner since imported and has low Ks and been garaged for 8 years the difference in condition is chalk and cheese and will remain in the garage as a fine example of what once was. The Gtt damage from rust and neglect is heart breaking and the rebuilding will be hard work. Working on a car is the only way to make it feel like its your car.

Here is some work I am doing on my R34 rust repair Its a problem for the skylines at the age they are right now. Even the repair panels I got in from a JDM salvage center are not with out corrosion

Looks like I found a cut front section from R34 no idea what it was it's only a chunk off the strut tower driver side at lest i got my worst the side. Not so urgent with the left may just be able to clean it up no panel replacement.

I know this is an old topic. Is there any re manufactured replacement panels in Australia theses days for the strut towers. Anybody know of a supplier. Best re Rod

I purchased a cluster and the Speedo didn’t work. Then I got another cluster worked fine and so did the original. This is getting confusing but to cut to the problem my auto has low ks and the manual cluster has almost doubled that. What would happen if I swapped the processor chip on the main board over? Looks like the ODO memory is kept in the main processor. I think the main processor is good because the instruments work except for the speedo what believe is happening the signal data coming from the gearbox is being lost in the board before it gets to the CPU than runs the whole show. Or is it the signal coming from the gear box are not compatible with a NA instrument cluster

Are Gtt instrument cluster compatible with non Gtt electrical systems The Gt RB25de? I am converting a Auto to a manual. My auto has low ks and the manual cluster has almost double that. Yes It is TIPTRONIC . is the bell housing bolt pattern different on the block ? my My engine is an RB25de. just to clarify I am talking about Automatic to a Manual 5 speed. conversion. Thank you for you help.

Thanks I am very new to all things R34. an know nothing about the others. I have a R34 coupe 25gt. non turbo. Yes Its an Auto. I want to convert it and I know many have done that Nothing new Right? There are a few R33 Non turbo boxes around. I was wondering will one of them work. As at the moment cannot find a R34 box non Turbo. I have been looking on the forum for similar post cant find any thing as yet. point me to a post topic. Thank you for the reply

I am looking for a Gearbox for My R34 25GT I have found a good gear box from a R33 RB25DE are they swap over compatible. could it be used?

thanks that is very help full. Is the car devalued if it was once a Auto and now a manual? I have found a coupe GTV R34 For 9k is that a reasonable price for a no original car.
