  3. By using vcam you are increasing power and torque which is filling the cylinder more and creating more pressure lower in the rev range which seems to where shit happens
  4. It’s the same theory as the barra and evo guys who keep the boost low through the bottom and mid range and ramp it in up high to save the rods from bending, just in an rb the rods aren’t the week point it’s the deck or the big ends that let go
  5. The vcam makes more cylinder pressure lower down in the rev range as it’s coming onto boost and that’s what I believe is creating the problem. I’m not willing to experiment and find out on a $13,000 block

  9. I would never go to a large frame turbo! I bought a ba typhoon years ago fitted with a gt42 and I passionately hated it, I ended up selling the big turbo set up and going back to a factory 3582 with the wastegate modified and it transformed the car and made just shy of 400kw on 98 and would blaze tyres in 4th while rolling on throttle. So I’ve been there, done that, bought the shirt and not going back the only reason I’m even asking about the 6870 is it’s been suggested by a few people and still a mid frame turbo. As I’ve said I’m still pretty set on the 6466 with the bigger rear but getting some decent discussion going that isn’t the usual “my car is missing” threads that have been around lately is good to see again and from the first posts that came after mine I’m far from the only person asking this question

I don’t have my heart set on the 6870 at all, in fact I’m still pretty set on the 6466 with the slightly bigger rear on it, doesn’t mean we can’t try and see what else is out there and get some discussion going. The thing with the vcam is if I decided to go back to it, It is cheaper to sell the step 1 and buy the step 2 or pro then it is to buy the parts to upgrade it anyway

  13. I haven’t got Facebook to be able to get it, I found it using the mrs computer and it was the usual photo of a screen that’s impossible to read so I went off his comment further down the page
  14. Just searched my Mrs Facebook account and found a post of one on a 2.6 making 898hp (I’m assuming at the hubs) and all in at 4700

  18. Aftermarket industries do a solid state relay kit that has the fuse and etc built into it
  19. I would be looking at the 1.00 rear if I did it. At the moment I’m looking to put a 1.00 rear on the 6466 and thought I’d ask about the 6870 because of the number of people suggesting to go that way

  21. To my understanding the 6870 is the biggest of the mid frame precision, I know of a few 2.8s with 6870s. From what people have said the 6870 on a 2.8 will have similar response to a 6466 on a 2.6 but make closer to 850-900hp at the wheels I have spoken to one person with one and he says he’s all in at around 4100 with a 1.15 rear on it
  22. Has anyone in here used a 6870 with the H front cover on a 2.8? I’ve got the 6466 and have had a few people saying I should go up to the 6870 when the new engine goes in.
  23. Check if you have injector pulse, you may find the igniter has gone bad
