  1. Just thought Id post the fix to a really strange problem that my car had just in case someone else encounters the same thing... i cant explain it... but it worked. Please excuse my poor technical knowledge. If every Car: '89 R32 GTR Problem: When cornering, taking off, or coming to a stop, there would be a solid clunk / thud. Fix: Replaced clutch pivot ball and clutch Long version of the story: I was sure it was a suspension problem. However all the bushes, shocks etc checked out ok. Then one day whilst driving, my clutch friction point dropped almost to the floor, clutch would still disengage... but only just. This prompted me to get this (what I thought was an unrelated problem) looked at. Took the car to the mechanics and it turns out that the clutch fork pivot ball had snapped off. They rigged up some sort of replacement using a bolt of some sort, and replaced the old worn out button clutch with a simple heavy duty item. To my suprise, when I got the car back, there was no more clunking noise! I cant explain this as the "clunk" didnt correspond to the depression of the clutch. Hope this helps someone. Jono.
  2. I have ultimates on my r32 gtr and have the same problem... My mate had them on his ceffie, same problem... I'm no expert on brakes which doesn't help... but if you find a solution that works in your application, Id be interested to hear it!
  3. Yeah, specifically the gearbox. As in replace the gearbox. Oh well, going to take a gearbox specialist and see what they say. Can anyone recommend a place in Adelaide?
  4. Got the car back from the mechanic. Apparently its the gearbox... what do you guys reckon? Sound plausible? This could explain the couple of times the sound was heard when starting the car(stationary)... But I would have thought if it was the gearbox that it would present the issue 100% of the time upon start up, rather than on take off or just prior to becoming stationary.
  5. Just some feedback on Bendix Ultimates Car: 89 R32 GTR Rotors: DBA slotted Use: Street driving only (EDIT) Braking performance seems quite good. Although they are extremely noisy after more than 3-4 minutes of street driving. I have bedded them in as described by a few on this forum but have not taken any other steps to try and reduce noise. Would not recommend the bendix ultimates, as performance doesn't feel any better than my EBC reds that I had previously, and the reds didn't have the noise issues.
  6. I had this problem, and asked my mechanic to look at this post. He found issues with the CVs as you described... problem is now resolved! Thanks very much!
  7. Hi Guys, Sorry to resurrect this thread , but I have a similar problem to what you describe on my 89 R32 GTR. It occurs just before stopping or whilst taking off from stationary, there is a clunk (also kinda sounds like creaking metal but in a very short 1/4 second time span) from the front of the car. The problem doesn't happen when taking off very gently or stopping very gently but anything at a normal driving pace and it will happen. Did any of you find the solution to this problem? One other thing ill add is that once or twice the same sound occurred when I started the car (was in neutral / with handbrake on), which seems totally inconsistent with the above mentioned problem... I have my car into the mechanics as I write this so, hopefully they find the culprit but if you can let me know if you found the problem, Im sure it will save a lot of time! Thanks.
  8. Im not an expert... but even if it was an Mspec... my understanding is that it should have the leather interior... Never used fast... not actually sure how to "run the vin in fast" ... ill see if forums search tells me how...
  9. Just wanting to get peoples opinions on a certain car for sale on car sales as it seems dishonest... http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Nissan-Skyline-2001/SSE-AD-3339180/?Cr=10 Its was originally listed on 6 April as "One of the rarest R34 GTRs, Mspec NUR 2001" However i notice that it has the red rocker cover (not gold) and no leather interior.... I now notice that it is listed as Mspec (not MSpec NUR) .... with the description being updated on 8 April. It has the badging of Mspec NUR ... but it really just seems like a dishonest sale... What do you think?
  10. Thanks for posting this fix. I dont have this issue with mine... yet... but its certainly frustrating when people dont share their knowledge. So thanks! Im sure someone will find this extremely useful and time saving.
  11. Got known working Attesa pump + accumulator?
  12. Got attessa pump assembly and accumulator in known working condition?
  13. Attessa pump and accumulator? And are they in known working order?
  14. Wow this is an epic thread and kudos to DaveB for sharing the fix I have the same problem with my 32 GTR anyone know where the accumulator is located for this car?
  15. I have a Hicas problem... not the same as this... but i just wanted to say i think its good that people post their fixes to problems, most people dont. But this kind of thing helps the rest of us out Good work
  16. I got the same problem... exactly. Found your post when searching for "hicas".... no posts have the same issue as this.... so not sure how to fix it. I also get erratic behaviour from the 4wd. Big bumps in the road cause it to put power to the front wheels and it shudders until i lift off the throttle. Very strange problems. Drop me a line if you figure it out... or if any gurus stop by this thread....
  17. So getting back to the original question... i guess Boost Worx is the only place anyone can suggest?
  18. Are you talking about the consult device reffered to in the workshop manual? That piece of equipment looks very very useful... how much does one cost by the way?
  19. Ive got the manual and the procedures from it... i just cant get through the crazy setup instructions to put it into diag mode... and even if i had the codes, i dont have the skills/knowledge to replace what would need replacing/fixing <-- mechano tard.
  20. Im not keen for a lock bar either I dont like the idea of a bandaid fix (although i do read that its better for racing??).
  21. Thanks for the reply, not really looking for a specialist, i doubt there would even be such a person (although with the number of skylines with hicas problems may be there should be LOL) ... just someone who knows their way around the hicas.
  22. Hi Guys... My GTR has got some interesting HICAS issues and im looking for a workshop that has experience troubleshooting these problems. Can anyone suggest a place? Please only make a suggestion if you know they have experience with HICAS specifically. Thanks.
