  1. gas lenses make a weld ? of difference. 12l/min. is typically the max i would run... up to 15 when need to protrude the tungsten that bit further... That black discolouration you get instead of the nice straw finish will typically be the result of a poor gas coverage as you've alluded to...
  2. Added pics of Defi gauges... https://www.defi-shop.com/products/advance_bf/summary_adbf/ (amber red model)
  3. what gas lens do you use on your tig and what flow rate typically?
  4. good results, you appear to have very similar mods to my track car so will be interesting to compare, which dyno in Adelaide is this on?
  5. Got to work on my r&r fixing up the body of the SIL80, not the happiest with the end result but given it was my first ever attempt at this sort of thing I shouldn't be too hard on myself, it's only temporary (have fiberglass front & rear wide guards I got with the car) and all up it cost less than $200... The colour isn't even close to matching ?, though the new colour i actually prefer ?? Bogging that rear quarter panel was a absolute pain...
  6. GTR was in a wedding last weekend, good to get out in some awesome weather. Been having a strange issue where the car struggles to start, only when on a hill after a drive (note that even after a month without a start on E85 she fires up straight away). Once it's on a flat there's no dramas... Over half a tank of fuel too... Checked that the pump was still sitting where it should and was all good... A little baffled...
  7. That is very achievable with today's modern turbos... A lots changed/improved since you were last in the game...
  8. RB26 head (complete minus covers and cam gears) would require a refresh... - $750 ($850 with HD valve springs) RB25 long motor (no hot side) Low compression on cylinder #5, would suit rebuild or RB30 twin cam... - $750 Complete S15 rear subframe... - $750 Brand new KKR adjustable rear toe arms (suit R32, S13 etc)... - $125 Defi gauges with controller (boost, oil pressure, oil temperature)... - $700 BBS forged wheels (260rs Stagea) with crappy tyres (17 x 7 +20 and +30) painted... $400 Can potentially post at buyers expense gauges, toe arms, wheels and maybe RB26 head... Located South of Adelaide...
  9. definitely valid points comparing power fc to the likes of haltech and link etc but if we try say comparing apples with apples, when it comes to price anyway I think it's pretty hard to go past a Nistune vs a Power Fc... Just my 2c anyway...
  10. So the track car i bought has this fuel system... Surge tank, Bosch 044 external and Walbro 255 internal... Obviously drifting allows you to get away with murder but seeing as I do cams events (mainly hill-climbs) this won't be acceptable... So as I see it I have a few options... 1-) build a 100% sealed box to go around it... 2-) remove surge tank and just fit the 044 in-tank... 3-) possibly fit a clear perspex fire wall from boot to cabin... 4-) move system to spare wheel well and possibly cut a section out so surge tank can sit down and then just seal the cabin with some sheet metal... all of these options I see having 'potential issues but am leaning towards option 4... What would you do?
  11. Couldn't agree more with Dose and GTSboy, i'm using a Nistune on my GTR which puts out over 400rwks (550 ozzy HP) to the wheels... I'm using the flex feature as well as boost control all now within the ECU... I've just bought a track car which came with a Link G4+ and I am very impressed with it's features but if i'd have been starting from scratch on this car I still probably would have gone the Nistune for my needs...
  12. couldn't agree more, these are only 9.5" +22 as well... most people run a 9.5" with +12 +15 offset...
  13. your walbro 255 will also struggle on E85, you'd need to look at changing out to the 460 while you're at it...
  14. Preparations for the new shed are in full swing...
  15. So i finally found myself a more dedicated track car, bit more work to do than i would've liked but it's got all the good bones...
  16. Haha, I remember those days... Though I was debating between a 32 gts-t and 32 GTR (back when the price difference was only a few thousand... Samsonas hey, haha. Thankfully I've sold the S15 and in the process of looking for a dedicated track car (have my eye on an S13 with an RB25 with some panel damage) so the GTR just gets the occasional drive and the ~400rwkws is more than adequate for that... If/When third gear leaves me though I can't see myself just replacing with another 5 speed. I think I'll go down the getrag 6 speed route though...
  17. Actually enjoying just getting out and driving her (even if the weather sux), here's a few pics from a local cars & coffee...
  18. Went with the Optima yellow top, didn't realise how shitty my old battery was til fitting this... Even on E85 and <5 degree mornings it starts first crank, never thought I'd be so happy buying an expensive battery ?
  19. no pics but can get some if needed. will come with everything except cam gears and covers. can include heavier valve springs (70lbs) for $1000
  20. I've run Hankook RS-3 with a 200TW on my old S15... running 2000rwkws I was finding them relatively good but I wasn't all out for a 15 minute session, typically I would do a cool down lap per session (2.30 laps)...
