it was also due to the style of seat the wrx used, and the police's belt they wear with all thier gadgets also a bout 2 years ago i saw a 1999 falcon ute with chrome roll bars and aftermarket wheels pulling someone over, think it was thomastown area (vic) ,,..... very sneaky i thought, using a ute for starters, and it being 6 years old at the time! a few ways to tell a cop car is -small rectangular box mounted on passenger side dash -small light box mounted on rear parcel shelf on drivers side -sunshades put on rear window to hide light box on parcel shelf -abnormal amount of Arials -undercover cop cars do not have plastic dealer advertising around numberplates -dark tint -usually in uniform also, but have known to also wear plain clothes list goes on im sure people can add to it

mmmm so very true... i find the older cops tend to ask questions first, get their facts right, then book you..... younger and less experienced cops tend to launch at you with thier almightly authority (picture cartman in cop suit LOL) just the other day i was going through a booze bus, blew my usual 0.00 and waited for the cop to tell me to have a nice day... instead this young arrogant prick preceeded to tell me i wasnt allowed to drive my car because to was too powerful and turbo for P'plates... i just told him he was incorrect, he then went off at me for talking back, and told me again i wasn't allowed to drive this car, (100% stock aus spec S15 = 147kw/1265kg = 116kw/tonne and ive had my licence since before the turbo pplate laws were introduced so they don't apply to me) ... i told him all those facts and then he got really shitty at me for proving him wrong ... not to mention making him look like a dick for holding up 6 other cars for about 4 minutes, and causing his fellow police officers to come over and inspect the situation, then once i was satisfied that he wasn't going to stand over me with his incorrect bullshit, he finally said in a snooty voice "go on, get out of here!" that good sir's is why i also disaprove of many victorian police methods of dealing with people ...that said kudo's to the mature wise police who do thier job properly, and make sure they have thier facts 100% correct before they decide to wrongly accuse people, who are just minding thier own business doing the right thing! -Ruffels

your car will not be towed and impounded! if they didnt take it there and then on the spot, your safe with that regard, and also, in court the magistrate will ask you if the car was impounded as a result of the incident... you will reply "no it was not your honour" - this looks a bit better, because it means the police officer used some disgression, and for a reason, most likely good chose not to impound the car! along with your good driving record, i think you should be better off then, most would in this situation... as said above, speeding is not looked kindly apon, especiallys that sort of speed! if i were you i would speak to a lawyer about it!, because there are loop holes, and also considering how the police officer spoke to you! you can use that as a bargaining tool to drop some of the many charges you will recieve! then your lawyer will most likely go to a contest mention (pre court hearing to try and resolve the issue before it hits the actual court room) ... not saying its possible, but things can be greatly reduced in contest mentions, the court loves people going to contest mentions as it saves alot of the court's precious time! so firstly i recommend you stop asking people in here for thier opinions coz unfortunatly you will most likely just get flamed or told to suck it up! save your time, and go see a solicitor or lawyer, most will give you a first off free meeting with no obligations, they will tell you what sort of chance you have at beating/reducing all this mess! wish you luck buddy -Mark

thats a fair generalisation ash! by saying that youre saying all R32 GTR's are gonna need to be rebuilt after you buy them! i would think its not an easy choice to make... AL makes a good point about rwd, but you really have to think about what you want the car for..... i know its not the same ... but when i went from my r33 gts-t to an R32 gts-4 .... sure it handled alot better round corners with the 4wd ... but comfort wise it wasnt the same! by sitting in the drivers seat of an R32 you dont have the same comfort and luxury feel you get when your in an r33,.... the smooth flowing dash and comfortable seats of the R33 are missing from the R32 i felt.. when i sat in my R32 i knew i was driving an OLD car, not to mention a few more ratles and shakes, but i think the r32 is alot more ... "raw" then the r33. but then again it really depends on what your looking for in a car... we can't sit here and tell you "yup, go for the GTR" or "nah stay with the 33" because at the end of the day, what i like in a car and what you like in a car, are potentially two very different sets of variables...

as for the exhaust being too low? you know that between the two axles youre allowed to be lower then 10mm its in the ADR rules ... cant remember exactly but states something about having to be higher then 100mm forward of the front axle and behind the rear axle, but inbetween you multiply the distance of something by 33.33 ... cant remember exactly... but yeah, allowed to be lower then 100mm inbetween the two axles

hmm well personally i wouldnt pay $600,000 for a 30+ year old ford... but people do! it comes down to what people want, and supply and demand! ...if no one wanted them, people would be struggling to sell them, so people would be asking less for them! Simple

i LOVED my R33 to pieces... the p plate laws made me sell and buy an R32... which i learnt to love! both great cars, if only you could combine all great things from the both! i found the 33 alot more comfortable.. and NEW! ,.... sitting inside the r32 reminded me that i was driving a really old car! and then having to replace the engine and gearbox reminded my wallet that i was driving a really old car lol

i got pulled over equally as much in my R32 and is did in my R33 it wasnt the car, it was the manner of which i drove in, personalised plates and P-plates cops arent as bias as people think "ooooo looky here ... an R33 lets pull that over!..... oh there goes an r32... meh!" lol and i sold my 93' GTS-4 R32 with 0km rebuilt engine and gearbox for $11500 so they arent all going for $15k ... infact i havent seen any go for that much! as far as i can see from knowledge of actual sales, and not advertising prices (big difference) the prices of skylines look something like this.... R32s ($9000 - $12000) and R33s ($11,000 - $14,000)
