i fully understand and agree with what you are saying to an extent, however what about when cars are "modified" by an accident, and arent written off, rather just put on a chassis jig and straightened again... the original structual intergrity is not fully restored it has been crushed, weakened and then just pulled straight (well straight if they are a good panel beater) are these safe, i think a detailed inspection and testing by an appropriatly qualified engineer could determine this, so why can't the same be done for a neat circular hole cut in a sil panel? i appreciate police cracking down on unsafe vehicles, they are not doing this for fun! rather i question the vehicles they are cracking down on! i find that a rusty old corona with more rust then metal, bog falling out from prior accidents and ball joints and tie rod ends about to fall apart far more unsafe then a tidy skyline with a neat circular hole cut in a panel that does not apear to be a major structual piece in the front end of the car. but you wouldnt want to upset the little old grannies driving thier corona now, would you? and its allready been discussed that the airbag sensor is not at the front of the vehicle, so whats stopping a massive frontal accident setting off an airbag sensor just because a hole has been cut? it doesnt make sense, as for crumple zones, they mearly act as a way to lengthen the time period of the impact so the force can be spread out, in hope of preventing death or serious injury through a massively sudden impact! wouldnt a circular hole and alluminium pipe crush just as well?

Not completely true, Kris (Krzysiu) was defected by officer pettet for having the hole cute for an intercooler in his old car (1996 R33 gts-t - Read: AIRBAGS) and the first engineer he rang on the VASS list was more then happy to inspect the car and gave him an engineers certificate for the hole! i'm not saying its nessasarily safe/unsafe just that your not completlystuffed, your situation can be easy fixed, just with a few $$$!

yeah, gts-4 is BASICALLY the same aside from it has different ratios, in the diffs and gearbox! gts-4 gearbox has same diametre shafts, and parts but is geared differently, alot of people argue that the strength in r32 gearboxes goes gts-t<gts-4<gtr .... a gts-4 gearbox should stand up to a standard gtr motor just fine! it is a common conversion in gts-4's but considering the cost of a gts-4 and gtr .... you'd probably be etter off selling your gts-4 and buying a gtr! unless your really attached to your gts-4!

What The Hell Is This Part?
Ruffels replied to hayden49's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
its a junction box with seperate bleeding point, not sure if they SHOULD have taken it out, but i know i would if i got a complete braided clutch hose from master to slave! -
this car is stupidly quick, not for the faint hearted!
-
Labour on a rwd car for clutches is anything from $250-$400 then factor in machining flywheel cost $50 - $80 then the cost of the clutch kit..... so $750~ sounds quite fair

which suburbs do you normally patrol Graeme?
-
says under your Avatar that you have an R33 GTS25T ... so don't you allready have a turbo?
-
lol i just sold a pair of front r32 gts-t shocks and springs for $1 on ebay... wish i knew you wanted them
-
100 isnt all that bad, i asume your running an anti freeze/boil coolant mixture?
-
i hope when you took it for a quote, you said you wanted the whole rear of the car resprayed, ... painting just one panel isnt good enough, you want them to blend down the side of the car and ... thats a good 1/3 of the car resprayed .... then just fork out for the other 2/3 to be sprayed... theres your full respray haha

you changed to ultimates to try and get rid of squeal? ultimates a renound for brake squeal!

ohk, fair enough.. still think its a bit ignorant to assume one person is the best... chuck out the rest. yeah car is metallic, however i havent taken any photos yet, car is under dust cover in garage, will take some good photos soon and post them up

dunno why everyone says this final inspection place is the best? as dezz said, unless you've used every other detailer in melbourne/victoria you cannot compare! i've never used final inspection, and i don't doubt they are very good, but i can't comment on their work as i havent seen anything. all i know is i paid $220 for my detail, and now my car looks although its ready to be taken delivery of for the first time out of the showroom. so i'm very happy.. but i won't go as far as saying they are the best, forget everyone else! that is just ignorant!

just had my s15 done at Soap detailing in Greensborough 9432 2000 full cut and polish, wax, steam clean, inside outside, the lot... my car looks brand new cost $220
-
UMmmmmm... you said it passed 2 rwc's implying that your car is being driven in this condition.
-
as topis states i'm after drivers side front lower control arm form an r32 gtr or gts-4 located in melbourne, will pickup pm or call on 0408 569 685

DO NOT TELL HIM TO GO F**K HIMSELF! he is right, you sir are wrong! spacers are illegal for a reason, just because they passed roadworthy, doesn't make them legal! lots of things often get overlooked in rwc inspections. I once had a car, it had wheels that hit the calipers without spacers... so i put spacers on there... one day my wheel fell off, all 5 studs had sheered, the car was damaged and i was lucky not to have been killed or seriously injured! you change the wheels to suit the car, not the car to suit the wheels!

i don't think its the rising fuel and living costs that are the problem.. its that inflation isnt rising equally with all monetry related things in life... so basically.. cost of living/surviving/commuting are increasing, however the average income/wage is not increasing enough to accomodate these changes $1 for petrol is fine for what we are earning now... and if we were paid 5 times as much... $5 for petrol wouldnt be that bad either.... but unfortunatly we arent going to recieve that relief, and for me and my generation, and for that fact further generations to come ... living is not going to be easy... just look at the price of houses for one thing.

wow paul, no offense... but thats a massive resume i would suggest sizing it down a little, as recruitment agencies and human resource people get bored very easily these days and have a short attention span.. i'm not saying your resume is crap, infact its quite good.. and your skills and abilities are fantastic from what i can see... but just be careful, if your resume/cover letter is too long winded and doesnt grab them straight away, they can just stop reading it and go onto the next resume!
-
thanks for the note kaz, unfortunatly only being a 1st year apprentice i don't feel i would be best suited to do this, i could probably do it quite easily, however i do not have the ability to provide you with a certificate of electrical safety. which for insurance purposes you would want! give me a call in 3.5 years though -Mark
