well my point is, the guy is worried if he will pass his roadworthy or not with his cai box, and from his sig pic it looks like he might have a front mounted intercooler too, and i am letting him know that it most likely will pass his rwc with the two induction mods.... he will fail an epa test, or if i police officer pulls him up on it he will have to change it, however i answered his question about passing his roadworthy... doesnt mean you have to have a stab at me for answering his question... -Mark

hmm this guy is going for a roadworthy, not trying to pass an EPA test! ive been speaking to alot of people who are lisenced road worthy supplier mechanics, and they said thier guidelines for a roadworthy certificate are set by vicroads, not EPA, so i asked them the hypothetical of passing the car with a front mount and a pod filter... and they said, yes because those are not on the requirement list of the road worthy, as long as they are done properly and are safe (eg pod is bolted down) and front mount isnt leaking and is mounted properly, then they are fine! EPA and vicroads should really get together, sit down and combine thier roadworthy/epa requirements because at the moment they really are two different entities that have thier own rules! -Ruffels

WRONG, police cars are fitted with a "performance chip" are they not, now i thought modifying or aftermarket ECU's were not allowed... they are under the law also, not above it... anyways on another note, does anyone know what "1 penalty unit" is worth, eg $monerty value / demerit points?

too all those saying have a cry and get a tissue, well i'd like to see the tmu squad sitting at the bottom of your driveway every morning and getting you as you drive out on your way to work, then we'll see who needs the tissue... i havent been affected by this and i think its not fair. i know illegal = illegal, but i dont belive the justifications are right on these laws! ... i bet you wouldn't be happy if they turned around tomorrow and said turbo cars arent allowed anymore, not for p-laters, not for anyone! they must all be unregistered and never driven on public roads again! ... it would then be a "law" .. would you be happy to go "oh ok, well its the law i better just go with the flow and do as im told!" some people need to rebel! other wise eventually it will be illegal to breath!
-
yes, but you cant just make a problem go away, you have to provide substitues these people are trying to do the right thing by going to drag tag, now tell me this paul... would you rather have someone drive around sedatly with a modified car, and once a fortnight go to a controlle dplace like dragtag and have a thrash, or have some idiot just tear it up everywhere they go, street racing, doing burnouts, etc.... i know the answer to that and so do you, so do the victorian police, they promote activities for things like drag tag, because its a positive way of keeping both parties happy, the car nthusiests can have a good old go with thier car, and the police dont have to worry about controlling hundreds of idiots doing illegal street racing... to ambush something they promote is the issue here! not driving an illegally modified car its only going to wreck what they promoted! people are just going to go back to street racing and street burnouts in more inconspicuos areas!

yes thats fair enough, allthough very expensive way about doing it, it is the legal way!... but think of it this way, intercoolers, bigger turbos, boost controllers, exhausts, specially ones with no cat converter (general modifications that you get busted for) arent really "SAFETY" problems, they are more epa and pollution laws set in place to protect emmision standards, our atmotsphere etc, so how is it 'OK' if you use your motor vehicle with these epa breaking modifications on a private property? its still polluting isnt it? like said earlier, if your car is physically danerous, eg bald tyres, rusting through the chassis, etc, yes then it should not be on a road let alone be driven ANYWHERE! but if you can do it on private property, i dont see how a boost controller, or emmision changing mods are that bad!

loh damn, well i better not talk about how i did 350km/h down a 40 back street the other night shortly after pretending to be my brother at a booze buss when they asked me for my lisence, and then doing a skid ... because they might find out hey! that said.... just because he said sometihng on a website chat discussion board doesnt mean its true, he could have just been talking shit, and really could have gone home, and really could have been the false identity that he gave? *shrugs* i just wouldnt have thought that it was reliable evidence!

i believe they must have either made a mistake or have changed it, but when these laws were made in 2006 they said the high powered vehicles (eg no turbos, superchargers etc) was to be instated in july 2008, not july 2007, i knew the staged probationary license syste was starting 2007, but things like the 6 month begining passenger restriction and the no turbos etc was 2008.... want to find this out, because i want my girlfriend to be able ot drive me around in my car lol... that wont happen if they come in july of this year hahah

seems people want all different pieces of the box im willing to seperate!, transfercase is in very good working order a weakness in the selector fork on 3rd/4th gear caused the fork to break, and sticking in 3rd gear however transfer case and actual gear teeth are perfect bearings and syncros however are pretty much no good!
