  1. Check this site. http://melbournetolondon.com/ He saw a Vic registered 4WD in London 30-odd yrs ago and always wanted to drive there. Obviously ferries assisted him between land masses.
  2. Felt it in Bentleigh. Thought my BBQ was blowing up. Then ran to check the dorrs. Thought someone was shaking the house. Looking back I feel like a goose! haha Friends in Caulfield, Ringwood and Pakenham felt it. Friends in Werribee didn't.
  3. Nice! A colleague of mine drove his 4WD from Melb -> London late last year. most he paid for diesel was around $3 per litre. Cheapest was 1.8c a litre in Iran. And that's NOT a typo! He filled up for AU$3. ..Now who's making a sh!tload of cash between there and here??
  4. Last time I checked SAU Membership was $50 per year + $20 joining fee and Cams L2S was circa $85 per year. Cheap considering the law won't chase you. Leaves more time for concentrating on the tarmac.
  5. I hear you on the R36, but not sure it would fit the image of the company. It's a well-sub-$100K ride and if I was paying $36k pa, well... life's too short. It would be more viable to test-drive one at the dealers and pay for the privelge of the top shelf stuff.
  6. 20 yrs ago a Melb-based mate of mine had his motorbike L's. He went to the bumpkin NSw cop shop where he used to live and said he wanted his P's. The copper asked him how he got there, to wich he replied "On my motorbike". "Did you fall off the bike" asked the policeman. "No", said my mate. "Well here's your licence" said the cop. LOL - that was before VicRoads owned the licensing system.
  7. Red Ferrari F430 on Monash Fwy Xmas day arvo weaving in and out the traffic. Rego UAD or UDG... Sounded awesome!
  8. I didn't mind him, but his downfall in the end was his stoopid name!
  9. Ace karts track is ok if you get the supercarts, as they call them. I call a superkart the 250cc one's, but they call them 6.5HP which just out-pips my Honda lawnmower. Anyway, the only issue I have with them is they kick you off and ban you if they think you caused an accident. They are the true kart nazi's.
  10. That's why they're paid to do the job. If they had to prove every little offence, then they may as well encourage citizens arrests. Some, and I say some law enforcers take advantage of their power. Same thing happened to me when Iw as 18. No radar, but the cop booked me all the same. On-the-spot fine was written out. Alledged speed was written down as 78km/r and (something) speed was 75km/hr. At that age, I just paid it and forgot it, but nowadays I'd run him through the courts asking for hard evidence. It can go either way, but if it turns out bad, it will hurt your pocket. I'd act on principle tho, unless I knew I was in the wrong.
  11. I disagree.Yeah I am aware of your occupation and the legal training you get before you get the shiny shoes. ;0) It's well within your rights to No Comment the interview. And the police and especially the judge know that. For those that aren't aware of that, their niavety can sink them before their legal representation steps in, as in this guys case. A word of advice from a friend in the know was always "No Comment" until you get legal advice, even if you think you know better. That way, you cannot incriminate yourself any further. BTW, I'm far from being a crook.
  12. I think you'll find he'd been on the happy pills.
  13. If ur car looks riced and like a tosser you will be nicked!
  14. Neons are distractive and therfore illegal. Period.

    Top Gear

Missed it to. A friend SMS'd me AFTER the fact. Grrr. I'd be very suprised if a 2nd series of TG Oz was commissioned. They're all try hard of the original, however I don't blame the hosts, but the franchise.
  16. I was out for dinenr in St Kilda last night and the police presence was huge. Sitting by the window for a number of hours the marked cars passing was regular. Leaving there for home, I saw 2 different random cars pulled over on Fitzroy street. On Intersection of Alma Rd and Brighton Rd there was a booze bus stopping St Kilda bound traffic. Another on Alma Rd getting east bound traffic, ANOTHER at the same intersection getting city bound traffic. I was amazed as I rarely see 1 bus around. Head southbound on Brighton rd for 200m and BAM... 2 buses side by side stopping outbound traffic. I did hear on the radio that they're getting serious in the lead up to Christmas, but 5 buses within 200m of each other?? Apart from the blantantly obvious reason not to drink drive, this over the top presence is there to drive the message home. Hopefully it works and there's a few more people around to spend Christmas Day with their families. Take it easy out there folks.
  17. Agreed. Garbage. Best thing I did was blow up my tipronic box and get a manual. I had mine 18months and was only pulled over once. And that was when I was stationary. Gotta love the Knox TMU. Young Playstation fanboys go nuts over the 34's. haha
  18. Good to hear you got it back. Your's is a lucky story. I was full comp with my 34, but the insurance company insisted on a 3-point immobiliser and black wire alarm before they'd insure me!
  19. Price: $120/case (4 x 750ml bottles) Sorry mate, but is that a typo? Should a 750ml case contain x 12?... As do wines.
  20. I like the way Sydney and Brisbane give you a bit of a chance by signing there prescence with a small A-frame, plus the vehicle are stickered with Police. Although I saw the dodgiest mofo's in Kelvin Grove (opp. QUT) in Brisbane. Was a Police Landcruiser 8 seater on the roadside, but the A-frame was 1m in front of and 1m the the left of the front passenger-side headlight. Totally impossible to see it until it's too late. The law must just say the sign must be outside the vehicle.
  21. Yeah, digital speedo's can be wound back. I heard about this happening many yrs ago not long after they first came out in cars. I'd take grey import's odometer readings with a grain of salt. Just look at as many as you can and see how they drive. The ones with more work will feel looser. A friend who was a car salesman once said that one of the things they look for is the wear/shininess of the steering wheel. Obviously if it's not stock then that theory won't work. But as the 34's had airbags on them, I'd say most people wouldn't swap them.
  22. COmmiserations man. I once had a Sony-Ericsson 810W that set me back $850. 3 weeks later it fell off the side of the boat and into the (salt water) drink. Although I immediately flushed and soaked it in 600mls of Evian, it never recovered. 3 of the charge pins coroded away. Many months later, the Communications Clinic on North Rd, Ormond said they could replace the board & pins on it. Still on the cards to do this as the phone was a cracker.
  23. James, I'd like to drop by your work and check out your stable. While I'm at it, throw me they keys to anything in there with a "Made in Italy" sticker on it!
  24. LOL. I knew some wise arse would say something like that. I was just protecting the identity of the (not so) innocent. I told him to buy a Tatts ticket when we got to Warburton. Here was the only damage... incredibly... white paint from grazing a reflector post. Anyway, point is that if you're not a n00b behind the wheel, Reefton is prob the best, most technical mountainous drive I have done. Just respect it and be mindful of others coming from the other direction.
  25. Was that a lcoal delivered one or grey import? Aren't Nissan doing their all to stop private imports on the R35??
