  1. almost always due to bad tuning
  2. lol is that a futurama t shirt?
  3. Yeah I mean good on him for being cautious if he isn't familiar, but you can tell him that hundreds of people have done it safely, just avoid detonation, keep it cool and it will be fine. A good intercooler is extremely important for higher running boost safely.
  4. It will be fine. simon was running 25psi+ for months at the track with a big turbo with no issue
  5. You should post this in the oil thread, guys seem to think how their car "feels" when they drive it is a better metric than oil analysis when comparing oils.
  6. So what does Herman do wrong?
  7. Was it a brand new turbo? If it was off a car then chances are they were from you removing it, otherwise they would have surely been ingested by now.
  8. It wouldn't be dropping off any more than it is now, I guess the slope would be steeper, but you'd still have more power/torque under the curve.
  9. You can probably get away with running more boost in the midrange once you find the limits. Eg 20psi at redline is more air than 20psi at 4000rpm, hence if you are maxing it at 20 @ redline then you should be able to get more flow in the midrange. have to look at the compressor map to find out how much
  10. Thanks everyone managed to find one, cheers for all the offers.
  11. Slack inspector is basically the only reason it got through, the majority will not pass adjustable coilovers. It is possible they paid a workshop to comply it and get it registered, workshops will put 100% stock gear in, get it registered then swap all the mods back on. The latter is much more likely.
  12. Misfiring can foul the plugs up, and fouled plugs usually misfire. Replace the plugs.
  13. Why? You are running the boost you want to run aren't you? Why do you need a new controller? The one you have now works fine?
  14. You don't need a very big hole to release the pressure though.
  15. Interesting, I wasn't aware that they did this.
  16. How will it choke your motor to death? It won't function very well but it won't cause any issue either. When your car is on vac eg idle and light cruise the PCV will be sucking air in via the catch can as you have blocked off the intake side. Can you draw a diagram of how you have hooked this all up? Do you have the PCV still attached? The best way to set up a catch can is leave everything stock with the vent hooked up to the intake so that it sucks air out and the catch can just set up inline. There is a DIY guide on here with pictures.
  17. fork out for a nistune or aftermarket ECU once you fix the fueling problem, will give you a much nicer result.
  18. Hey guys, I am in SA and I need an R33 fuel rail and regulator, I don't need the injectors. Need it for regency inspection so needs to be 100% stock. I'm quite busy and not able to pick up unless you are near burnside in SA, happy to pay for postage interstate/local. Thanks guys. : ) PM me on here or call <removed>
  19. sounds sexy, looks like the diff is opening up though?
  20. Well within reason, the rb30 will be putting more force on the bearings/rods at x rpm than an rb25/26 but the limiting factor for revs is not usually rod bolts/bearings and more a function of the head/turbo combo actually needing revs that high. But yeah, for pretty much any combo the extra stroke isn't going to be a limiting factor for revs. edit: Definitely balance the motor! this isn't just some slapper, and it isn't like it is going to cost you more to get everything balanced correctly.
  21. What he said, ECU change is definitely another option as well. Vipec is a good choice as well. Well you can, but I don't know why anyone would, I mean rb30 with stock turbo and injectors etc? pass lol
