  1. 250kms??? geez i usually get 450 in my r32!
  2. nah only kidding matey good work that gain should be quite easily felt from the slow stock item. have fun.... untill the next modification!
  3. bump anyone have one for sale?
  4. havn't owned either just putting in my opinions... R32: weighs less original 'godzilla' sleek body which i prefer the look of R33: more street cred weighs more / chunky body
  5. moral of the story: someone has too much time and too much money! ha ha
  6. its annoying too becuase hp to me sounds very american and we all know how americans are anti-turbochargers. stoopid bloody yanks!
  7. i'm using a 15w60 oil so you think this is too thick at high temps? i am almost due for a service so i may change to some sort of Xw50 instead. anyone recccommend this?
  8. hp = kW * 1.34 or conversely kW = hp / 1.34
  9. when you get this, if you are willing to sell your old standard skirts let me know...
  10. chef_32, part number for rb20det ngk copper is: BCPR6ES that's gapped to 0.8mm already ...and i have seen them at supercheap can anyone verify this?
  11. the enginge in these 'aussie' cars isn't even aussie. firstly they get the engine out of a great car in the corvette and drop it in calling it a fully australian car. then they try to tweak it and can't so have to send it back to america so callaway can modify it to 300kW! the engine in the 300W HSV isn't even modified by HSV! hmmmm that says something about holden design and build. on the other hand, the 5.4L V8 in the BA falcon was built in australia (still using mostly american parts though) but still a much better engine as it has DOHC. i actually read somewhere that a brand new 290kW BA put out more rwKw than a brand new 300kW HSV. says something for their apparent crank power...
  12. thanks for the info... anyone else?
  13. ha ha i'm just stirring the pot...
  14. the 'fluttering' that i think you are describing is called 'compressor surge'. it happens when the bov it sprung too tight or when you don't have a bov (ie not a skyline). when the throttle body closes (like taking the foot off the accelerator), the comressed air hits and reflects back in the direction it came. in a skyline the bov would open and air would pass out through this making a 'ppsssssshhhhhhhhhh' sound. if no bov, then the air goes back through the intercooler and passes through the compressor side of the turbo in the opposite direction to the spinning blades and as mentioned by obseshn this 'chops' the air up making a fluttering noise. as you can imagine it ain't good for the turbocharger even if it sounds good. hope that helped. Waz.
  15. yeah they've got too much money
  16. and another related question: i have read some accounts of getting a miss after turning up the boost. how common is this amoung everyone? or is this a smaller issue? from what i have read mainly R33 owners have been the only ones affected by this. (go the R32's!!)
  17. g'day mate, the measurements are in mmHG, and 760mmHG is equal to 1.0 bar or 14.3psi so, +7 = 13.2psi +3.5 = 6.6psi Or take your value that you are running as 'x': x / 7.6 * 14.3 = your boost value in psi x / 7.6 = your boost value in bar hope that helps, Waz.
  18. hi all. i have a slight misfire at idle and was thinking of changing the plugs. coppers are $3 and platinums are $20. so basically i can change the coppers 6 times for one platinum change... BUT... are the coppers inferior in any way? all i have heard is that they foul easier than the platinums. it would be great to hear accounts from people who have put coppers in an rb20det or rb25det and how long they have lasted and what they thought. i have platimuns in now and they have been there for at least 15,000 kms maybe more as i have not changed them since buying the car. also, i will hopefully be tweaking the boost in a few weeks - will this increase the chance of my older current plugs shitting themselves? from what i have read is the part number (NGK) BCPR6ES or BCP6E ? and please DO NOT say do a search. there was too much crap info to deciper through to find the answer i needed. cheers for all your help, Waz.
  19. who wants to sell me a bleed valve??? don't want a turbosmart one - looking preferrably for a turboXS as i have heard good things about these. preferably melbourne but let me know... cheers, Waz.
  20. a friend of the family used to have a pulsar ET turbo (FWD) let me explain his dilemma... its wet turning across an intersection, mate turns steering wheel, car keeps going straight $3000 later and it makes you wonder if you lose it in a RWD car you can easily regain it. loste it in a FWD car and you better hope you have nothing within a 20m radius of where you are!
  21. ignorance. ignorant people really shit my up the wall. if people just used their brains for just one second then the world would be a better place...
  22. mate are you broken?? 1) yes i have done year 10 physics, in fact i have done university physics and will have a degree in biomedical science in a few weeks so how's that for a science background? 2) why quote my post about minimal power gain, then go on bagging about a weight gain which i did not nemtion anything about? in fact i said that it would make a difference in theory (which you said in your point #3) so the fact that you questioned my intelligence makes you the dumb one. you can spray tll your face goes blue but it ain't gonna make much difference on the street. Cheers
  23. dominic, well in therory i think this would make a difference, but in the real world the actual gain would probably be minimal. i think this would be a better idea for those of us with teh stock intercooler. The 1kW you might gain is not even worth the time spent on installing i would say.

    who?

i see skylines all the time but i ws shocked to see the skylines australia.com sticker that's why i asked oh well
  25. how much would they charge per car, and what do you get done at a dyno? i'm new to dyno's... you might say i'm a dyno VIRGIN! do they check a/f ratios? max boost? check for pinging/detonation? check timing? or is this at extra cost to the run on the dyno? cheers, Waz.
