  1. in in in in in in! count me in! i was going to do this anyways in the next few weeks...
  2. mate that's poor cricket... u should have seen 'tears of the sun' (bruce willis) or 'american wedding'
  3. mate vcd's are everywhere if you want to see it with mono sound and filmed at the back of a cinema in japan! or you could wait and see it on the big screen with proper DTS!
  4. gtt looks better and has more cred at the moment. s15's are becoming very common even with those on p plates.
  5. is that the car chase from the preview? (i think it was a grey ferrari on a bridge) i work as a projectionist at the cinemas and saw that preview about 10 times today and i was frothing each time!
  6. as far as i know the mechanical side of the car is pretty much the same or very similar s2 looks better, and has airbags from memory
  7. 4 doorz what you said is true. closing the door to the room absorbs the energy in the sound... its all about physics!
  8. yeah but if you compare exactly the same exhaust on turbo and non-turbo car's then you will find that the non-turbo is louder for the reasons above. obviously more rpm = more energy release and subsequently more noise
  9. thursday night is Jimmy Rowes night... that's where everyone is! i would have been at jimmys if not for a bloody information evening at uni! but happy b'day anyway 32_envy
  10. i agree tonygtst. one of the reasons i don't get a loan for a car...
  11. my opinion is: energy is created in teh engine from the release of chemical energy in fuel to mechanical energy through the driveline. Of the products of the reaction (exhaust) which still contain energy this is released of which some is released into heat, some into noise and some as chemical energy still. If you have a turbocharged car (or 2 turbo's), then the wheel spinning in the exhaust uses energy from the exhaust gas in the form of heat and mechanical energy thus leaving less energy in teh exhaust and thus a reduced amount energy to be lost as noise. summary: if the car is non-turbo then louder if the car is turbo then quieter (especially if twin turbo) Note: this explanation is purely from a physics explanation based on the theory of energy conservation.
  12. just remember that you drive a skyline and not a commodore... (does that feel better?)
  13. thanks guys both answers are really helpful from the search i did, many people did not have anything bad to say about coppers, and at $20 a pop it is something that can be changed as often as a pair of undies... i think i have platinums in there at the moment (took one out to check ages ago when i got the car).
  14. OK listen up team... i HAVE done a search (please don't tell me to) and i have decided that NGK BCPR6E 0.8mm plugs are the best for my application. i still have a few questions... 1) How can i tell that a plug needs to be changed when looking at it? what SHOULD it look like? 2) can you buy plugs gapped to 0.8mm from the packet? as i keep seeing people who have re-gapped them after they bought them i have a misfire only osmetimes at idle but its very small. i basically want to check and replace if necessary as they plugs are still from when i bough the car about 15,000kms ago... btw: (EDIT: i put this in as some people get angry when they see similar questions. this is to clarify that i can't find if this has been asked before or not) what this thread is NOT: - asking for comparison about copper vs platinum vs iridium - askin what plugs i should get Thanks guys i look forward to the help, Waz.
  15. sounds like its something that directly affects the way air/fuel is measured. so i'd say maybe a leaking inatake hose that is causing a loss of air, or a dirty AFM (do a search for how to clean), or an afm that's unplugged or something? does it blow a puff of black smoke when u start it?
  16. best way to work a gts4 in my opinion: drop in an rb26!
  17. relax OVL-747, it wasn't meant to be harsh. btw... i don't have a flat spot. the AFM sounds like it could be a source of the problem from what i've read. have you chacked your base timing?
  18. what about remove the ashtray and place an insert with the switch mounted on there? or on the dash on the right of the steering wheel there is some room (but probably not ideal position) i have actually wired up a rocket-covered switch to wire53 to enable speed limiter removal when desired . i put the switch in the centre consol at the back where its out of sight. great place but not ideal for your application as you need to flick it more regularly then me.
  19. its past midnight... does this mean we get our shirts soon...???
  20. that's a beast.... of an ENGINE! the car its in can go get f**ked! at the end of the day its just a commodore, and being a VL its the most stolen car 5 years in a row. must feel good when you have 10k under the hood and park it at the shops at broady... seriously if i get a VB commodore and drop in an RB26DETT (that's a GTR engine for those wogs among us), it may run an 8 second quarter but its still a commodore. still handels shit. still looks shit. you're right about ppl looking when a VL drives past. They look and say "oh another bloody wog who thinks he's driving a skyline...". and at the end of the day that's what you are wishing you are driving. and thining your car is that good is actually a form of flattery coz you are approving that the company that makes our car and our line of engines has done a good job - so thanks wog! (for the record i'm not racist, i'm just getting the point across. i am actually good mates with a lot of greeks and italians)
  21. hey, i have 3rd party with just cars. i'm 20, on my P's, no accidents or claims (hell not even a speeding fine!), and i pay about 400 - 450 a year (can't remember exactly). fire and theft is an extra 300 if u can afford it. i don't see the point paying 3000pa for insurance when in 5 years you have paid for another car! then i spent some $$ on an alarm and clublock and presto - car ready to park at broady...!
  22. just for reference: ohms are a measure of resistance. use the right words and ppl will realise you do know what you are talking about... sorry for the irrelevance to the thread...
  23. yeah i'm shit... u press your foot to the floor and hold on! its hard to be shit in an auto...!
  24. why don't you relax a bit... i'm agreeing with inark there surely can't be that much acceleration difference between auto and manual.
