  1. ha ha i must be too old for that fully sick lingo. why not call it compressor surge as that is what it is? also, in regards to the comment that "I dont think I have met anyone who doesn't turn there head when they hear a dose/flutter?", then you obviously haven't spoken to ANYONE why doesn't own a skyline or performance vehicle. most people hate it. in fact, i even hate it. i think it sounds stupid and wanky and when i hear it i cringe and vomit a little bit in my mouth
  2. oh, and btw, what the hell is "dose"?
  3. i htink this idea is flawless at best without an ECU tune of some sort to compensate for the new AFM location my understanding of hte AFM is this.. the AFM works by calculating. it does not directly measure airflow. it has a wire that hangs into the lumen of the pipe. this wire heats up to a certain temperature that correlates with a certain resistance in the AFM (contains a variable resistor). when ambient air flows over that wire, it cools the wire down. the more air that flows over the wire, the more it cools the wire down. thus, as airflow increases the wire cools down more and the resistance in the AFM changes. this correlates with a change in voltage to the ECU. this way, the ECU knows approximately what the airflow is based on the hot wire's operation. now i see 2 major flaws with placing the AFM in the cooler piping 1) the air is compressed. there is absolutely no evicence that i've ever seen that says that compressed air will cool the wire at the same rate as air at atmospheric pressure. let's look at it from the particle model. say i have 100 particles of O2 in a fixed space and it cools the hot wire by 0.1degC. well if this is compressed to 1bar i now have 200 particles in that fixed space. who's to say that this compressed air will cool the wire by 0.2degC? i don't think the relationship will be as linear as you might think. 2) the air is hot. that's right, its after the turbo. that means that the air going over the wire could be up to 50-80degC having just come out of hte turbo. i don't think hot air will be able to extract heat from the wire as would ambient air, and if it does then it wouldn't be at the same rate as ambient air that passes over the AFM normally. --> but, i believe that both these issues could be compensated for by a good tuner so, in summary... my understanding is: 1) the AFM works on a hot wire principal 2) placing it after the AFM means that it measures compressed air not normal air, thus it will not measure effectively without a re-tune 3) placing it after the AFM means that it measures hotter air rather than ambient air, thus it will not measure effectively without a re-tune this is only based on my understanding of how the AFM works and my understanding of basic physics/chemistry. it might help or it might not, but i thought i would throw it in for discussion cheers, Warren
  4. damn that sucks mate sorry to hear.. shouldn't have a problem with local stuff though i imagine.. more exxy though?
  5. want some good advice? don't move to NSW... but in answer to your question, you can sell it without RWC and the person will have to get one themselves before they transfer registration, but if you ultimately want to sell it quickly the key is to advertise low and cop it on the chin
  6. hey chris, any updates on teh nav?
  7. if you re-read my post you will see that i was referring the AFM fix to "cutting out" rather than "stalling", 99% of the time true "stalling" is related to BOV venting to atmosphere
  8. thank god for comprehensive indsurance...
  9. if anyone has driven a 350z then stock to stock the r33 doesn't come close.. handling, acceleration, looks (looks is subjective obviously)
  10. very easy... 2 wires: - +12V - ground the loom plugs into the back of the mirror and then up through the wire cover and into the hood liner. you will see that our cars already have the hole there for hte wire th go through.. its meant to be there really then i just ran the loom across the hood liner, down the A pillar cover, and then behind the dash i gorunded the ground to the chassis, and onnectged the +12 to the cigarette lighter, and that's it the auto dimming feature is better than it sounds, it really is
  11. if its stalling then look atwhat has been said above if its actually cutting out (as in dies completely rather than loses revs) then its your AFM, do a search for "+solder +AFM" to see how to fix it cheers, Warren
  12. here is the exact mirror i bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gentex-Auto...emZ130135574974
  13. have had this installed for a while but thought i would finally share a picture of it this is the homelink mirror that was included as part of hte "premium pack" on th G35 is the USA as far as i know it wasn't on any V35 model its features: - homelink: up to 3 memory IR remote control (to control garage door etc) - auto-dim: when its dark out and a bright light shines from the rear it dims automatically without you having to flip the mirror down it cost me about $150 from eGay and came with everything needed including mirror, wiring, and wire cover the mirror itself mounts to the standard wedge on teh window exactly as the stock one, took me less than 15 seconds to unscrew the old mirror, slide it off, and slide the new one over. these bad boys are stock on most lexus' and other high-end cars and i am very happy with it - especialyl the auto-dim feature, its superb! highly recommended for anyone after the luxury features cheers, Warren
  14. you could have had black for CHEAPER but you got white??
  15. got a picture? i haven't noticed it before... not that i've ever sat in the passenger seat though! EDIT: had a look and i don't seem to have it..
  16. because this is a FORUM where people are FREE TO EXPRESS their ideas contrary to what you might think, not all of us have the "QLD code of practice for light motor vehicles" in front of us, we've got better thigns to do. if the thread starter watns more info they can do it themselves. they've posted for ideas on whether or not we think they need it. i take everything, including your seemingly accurate post with a grain of salt if you hang around the forums (i see you've got 91 posts) you will find that a lot of great ideas and mods come from people sharing ideas that have no background basis that end up being great that is all.
  17. pearl white in V35's isn't rare, every second one i looked at in QLD was white shame you had to settle for a crappy BMW, couldn't think of anything uglier (no i'm not joking)
  18. i didn't have any leaks. when i sealed it up i used thread tape on the nut and inlet/outlet, and it came with rubber seals for the top/bottom. i put a bit of water into it and inverted it a few times - never had any leaks
  19. can these items be legally mod plated? you can't just get a mod plate for anything.. i would have thought a roll cage can't be mod plated at all..
  20. a "power run" will give you 3 runs on the dyno, checking AFRs, power, and torque i think mercury charges like 70 or 80 for a simple power run, that's no tuning or anything simply a run on the dyno cheers, Warren
  21. EDIT: for some stupid reason i cannot find the beltronics car charger and maual, they are put together somewhere! argh! i will have to hold off on the sale of it until i can find them Warren EDIT#2: ok so i found the connector. it doesn't run off a battery it runs off the +12V source continuously, and it had been previously connected by being spliced into 12V from behind the dash as a result, it doesn't have a cigarette lighter adaptor, rather a "+12V" and a "ground" wire which needs to be connected also i can't find the maual as a result of this, i've dropped the price of the beltronic unit to $90 plus postage this is an absolute bargain for whoever gets in first.. cheers, Warren
