Sounds like the 050's are the tyre to have - they appear to be putting out consistently quicker times. I'll be happy to have a reliable day to finish the year off.

Yes I saw that - great driving. I doubt I'll get near it - been away too long - been racing bikes instead!

A few of us are booked in for that. I'm dusting my car off - haven't fired it in anger since April.

PIARC on the 13th and 14th of Nov at Phillip Island. AROCA on the 11th or 12th of December I think?
  5. Well done guys, look forward to seeing it out there.
  6. <richie> Shuper effort that, really marvellous stuff </richie>
  7. Having something similar to Snowy's setup (R32 though) I'll throw my ideas in as well. I have a full weight street set-up and a very nice 3/4 cage - so I'm well over stock weight. For me, some of the biggest advantages of a race car are (in no particular order) - you can ditch everything behind the dash and just keep the dash itself, including the heater, water lines, extra wiring loom, sound deadening - some weight there. - be far more thorough with your cage design - do a proper job of ducting and cooling without the restrictions of factory equipment and placement - more agressive weight reduction (remove side intrusion bars, fit lexan windows etc) - change suspension pick ups to allow for a more track bias and greater adjustment I've run my street weight setup for 5 years and it's been a great, reliable car. Yep they are more expensive to setup than a 2wd but if money is a critical factor then you can go faster for less in a different car. Comes down to what you are passionate about and what you can afford to be passionate about. I think the only thing I would do differently is not buy a mint example and mod it for the track. I would buy the straightest, cleanest bodied R32 GT-R I could find with a blown engine and start from there - reckon I would have saved $10k - $15k right there. Regards Andrew
  8. Well done to Russman and Ant - looked like a fast day overall, some quick times posted. Proves to me that Winton is not about power, it's about GRIP...GRIP...GRIP - or if you can drift like Newton-san it also helps.
  9. Nick, The +22 CE28's that I have a spot on for fit and have no issues at the track. I reckon you would even be able to wind more castor on with the +22's as you might find you have more clearance from the guard liner behind the bumper. I have never heard of anyone here (Victoria) on the track that runs +12's on a R32 GT-R - and I know pretty much everyone who races one. Go the +22's and you will have the concave look you are after and no niggling doubts about whether you will delaminate a $560 tyre in the first corner you take when it rubs on top of the guard (might even take the guard with it!) Cheers Andrew
  10. I'm out - first one I've missed in years. Packing wife and kids off to the gold coast and then working my arse off all weekend. Have fun!
  11. I'll be coming down for a skid. Will be a least 4 months since I last drove so will take a while to get my eye in. Prob by the last session....
  12. I'm in. But I think I've forgotten how to drive as I've been riding my bike so much lately.
  13. Err, well done to Chris on the PB We all knew you guys were sandbagging.
  14. Well he can fix my car when it breaks, it has been having too good a run. It's all got to come to an expensive end sooner or later...
  15. The event is now officially full. Amazing - last year they struggled to get entries to events, now each event this year has been a sell out - fantastic news for all concerned. Also good to see a few cars being dusted off - especially Chris Thompson. Be interesting to see if the "plumber with dripping taps" theory applies here or if he has some secret squirrel mods going on. Purely for R&D purposes of course.
  16. It's free to come and watch, you might want to go out as a flaggie as you get a much better vantage point and potentially a free lunch. First run is usually between 9-10am - although there will be a lot of cars to scrutineer so it may be later.
  17. Thanks to Lee Roach - not in focus but is a great shot - hot at both ends!!!
  18. Gimme 10inch slicks and 300 less kilos (about the weight difference to my car) and I'd be pretty confident!
  19. Anthony Snelling R33 GTR A 1.05.02 6 I call shenanigans!!!! bwwwhahahahaha
