  1. I have a couple of xanavi navi DIN units that have a dvd rom drive in the base of it and a 7" lcd that pops out. I'm going to rework one of them into a carpc/embedded solution. also look up fit pc. the compulabs people have drop in boards if you have the ability to do base boards for them. look at the CM boards as a start. they are atom based and preloaded with an operation system http://www.fit-pc.com/web/ http://www.compulab.co.il/ http://www.compulab....ml/products.htm this is what I'm looking at: http://www.compulab....m-datasheet.htm http://www.compulab....m-datasheet.htm http://www.compulab....m-datasheet.htm you can spec them to drive a LCD directly. there is a rep company in mona vale (sydney) that can do them.
  2. yep shoot it across once you get it and I'll do a screen shot of what I have on it
  3. dials look like ebay versions. think I have seen this kicking around as well. didnt think it was this quick though - kudos !
  4. ok no more high ground. its back at the shop and gets attecked with a spot weld cutter over the next week. this cowl panel has to go along with two others that are in the way. yet to ask teh paint shop I buy my stuff from but what is the adhesive/ 'caulking' they use on these cars. I'm going to need a tube or two.
  5. give me the chassis number and I'll tell you. BNR34-??????
  6. same as a R34. the remote side of it is an after thought. two separate systems at play there. they did the same thing with the R32 GTR and the dealer fitted alarms in them.
  7. bigger cooler is better. have a 600x 600 one on my subaru and that keeps temps quite good and quite driveable. in my case I do not use the stock one in the radiator. that said my 4spd box isnt entirely stock either. (after a $4500 rebuild.)
  8. no probs if you are ever out herston way - drop in (see sig)
  9. I'll beleive it when I see it. coding for PICS and AVRs is a differnt thing from writing in machine code.

    unit is $650.

  10. its quite limited now
  11. GT motors bowen hills - frank 3252-4928. fussy bugger and he's the one doing my car. I use him for paint jobs on plastic panels and the color matching is dead on and perfect.
  12. aux is for TV audio. there is a pinout around for that plug to actually make use of it for something else as well.
  13. that thing use a hitachi SH3 in it so whoever does it will have physically reverse engineer the unit and then write it in machine code from scratch. that unit was not used anywhere other than japan..

  14. really... if he is an electronics enginneer with a software background then possibly.

kk have been promising people things like this for years. I have even been lobbed with a few of them. as for loaning one out - no. they are $12k new and the one I have here I will SELL but not loan.

  15. make sure you use loctite on those. they will move over time and you will be pulling the lot down again. quite common on the r33 , r32 where you add an actuator to them
  16. got one shoot me a PM. they are a regular item for me.
  17. in short do it once and do it right. I'm assuming you are in your early 20s, when I was that age I did a similar thing with a V8 chev. I kept tossing money at it when I should have simply fixed it once and left it alone. 4 engines later I I realised and then built the combo I should have striaght up. get my point?
  18. fix the box then and forget about modding the thing for now. as I said there is no point having a huge amount of power if you have no way to get it to the ground. forget screwing with the electronics - if the current setup works why FK with it. fix the mechanical side of it and then do the rest. you are creating more work for yourself and I'll tell you now that the electronics in these things is nothing to sneeze at for a 20 yr old car. even my old subie with a 98 GT drivleine under it was left alone. the electronics worked fine so I saw no reason to screw with it.
  19. whilst I'm not going to tell you how to spend your hard earned I would sort your existing probelms first BEFORE fiddling with the engine. bob grant automatics will do the jatco and make it bullet proof. I have already have one box doen by him and its the bset shifting box I have ever used. (subaru 4spd auto.) buying a second hand box is going to be buying another hand grenade. it will work for a while then spit 2nd or 3rd again. do it once and you will not have to do it again. from there then start playing with the engine. no point upping the power if the device behind it will not take it. as a parallel story: I bought a 88 subaru wagon - dead engine in 2006 - dropped a twin turbo awd ut into it - 4 spd auto. box lasted 3k before it spat second. when it did the whole thing went. turned out second gear band was worn to metal and that filled the box with shavings and destroyed every clutch in it every box I looked at second hand was trashed or near enough to it. it sat for two years whilst I was looking in the end I put $4500 into a totally rebuilt box and that had everything uprated and a BIG trans cooler added. that was feb 2010 and it runs fine now and has not given me ANY trouble. looking at your current idea you apper to be ready to simply throw money at it without a real plan. I would plan what you want and from there work to achieve that. as a marker have a look at the GTS4 thread in my sig. that is a plan in action
