john,
run it past when you get a sec. (ring first.)
I'm considering grabbing a few of these units and doing them on an exchange basis since most of you are having dead units on a regular basis.
if done with the correct interface lead - no loss at all. in regard to the previous fix onthe stacker - did you get the WHOLE lot changed or simply the dud guide replaced.
also to pop that JVC unit in you have to spend $6-700 more on panels, controllers and leads.
two leads for the reason you have a T piece in the middle of the ground wire and a lug on end of it. to do it properly you would need a matching battery terminal, T tap terminal and a lug onthe end. in two pieces battery terminal, lug 2nd wire with a lug on each end.
two cables unless you can get the correct termination from a autoelect supplier. also 0 AWG welding lead - same stuff and a bit cheaper. forget bling when its really fucntion that counts.
I've never seen one setup that way from factory. that said I have seen them with non bose integrated dash panels. cannot remember what version it was though.
then it wasnt a bose item. trust me you do not want the bose audio in one. if the unit breaks (and they do quite regularly.) then its a massive exercise to change and quite expensive to fix. the CD stacker is $600-700 to repair properly. if the unit dies it takes the AC control system with it.
what you are looking at now is a better option.
yes it does!
you took a factory item off and put a non standard item on there. thats what got you into trouble. put the standard one back on and leave it that way. the police on the GC will mark your car and if you are seen again in non standard trim you will probably end up with another canary..
do you have navi? if so that makes life easy. OR if you can find someone over that way that sells connects two or Neo products then you can get control of the ipod you have.
as for replacing it, that is a $700 AUD exercise in panels, parts and interfaces (assuming bose here.)
