  1. they FKN hammer! if you see a balck rav4 getting around try to sit in it- you can't!
  2. built into rear screen - two amplifiers left and right of the rear glass. so yes you DO need to power the antenna wire.
  3. define expensive. (I do this as well.) the tv units I use are quality items and not cheap crap. the navs are the same thing. then you have time on top. the ones I do are also a 4 figure sum. there is NOT a cheap way to do these.
  4. ausis, can't help there I'm afraid. I have a few things in mind for Matt's one but need to find a bit more info on it to narrow it down. CC is software based for the OE system - I would LOVE to get my hands on the software that programmed the car. it would make changing things a LOT easier. anyone in brissy know a nissan tech - need a consult machine for a bit
  5. matt, will pop by midweek (I have a bit of time free.) if you are available.
  6. 34gtr has a chip in the key. now if he has the wrong unit then its not going to go.. take it to a shop.
  7. see reply from APS. www.mobilefidelity.com.au or send me a message. they are a night and day difference between the pioneer. rainbow will make a BIG difference to your front stage. suggest the SLX265 Deluxe as a starting point for the front doors. and KX165 for the rear. add an amplifer and you are set
  8. yep they sound damn good. you need to do what I said first though. two sets of them will impress you.
  9. look at the rainbow KX165s as well
  10. there's an easier way you know. sound deaden the whole thing and put a bit of power on them. that will help.
  11. if it powers up (by your description it does.) then nails a fuse its what I said. power cabling isn't going to fix it.
  12. muz, yours is a different kettle of fish..
  13. soarer is a bit different. this one IF you can get the signal inthe right spot - maybe. I'm doing it another way.
  14. part of the reason I stopped looking at it. if you manage to get the firmware out of it without destroying the chip I'd be interested. if the MPU controls the tuning voltage then your idea may work. I would still be looking at the tuner swap myself. (think VCRs ) we really need to talk when time permits
  15. I looked at the idea. the OE xenavi item has two CAN controllers in it and a CPU with code on it. my thought originally was to hard code the tuner IC if it had one- it didn't- and swap the main tuner module out as they are somewhat standard. I stopped when I saw the CPU. was aware of the format/IF 'differences'. V sync is slightly out as well 15735hz vs 15750hz. wouldn't mind talking to you (PM me.)
  16. 7-8" wide screen. NO WAY IN HELL you are going to replace it. reuse it - maybe. what have you got in mind?
  17. actually if you mount them on a bit of back strap you can put them behind the door panel. angle them up.
  18. you dont fix it. you take it to a tech and get them to do it. they are not user serviceable
  19. amp is fooked. post it on CAA and you will more than likely get the same response. that said it sounds like the PSU is coming up and the amplifier area has a shorted FET.
  20. nah do it that way. 33 is a bitch to explain via the net.
  21. do this: 87 -+12v 87a - GND 30 - motor 85 -+12 86 - alarm do both relays the same way and stick a 20A fuse on the supply. what car btw. there may be a MUCH easier way of doing it
  22. best to contact autowatch direct. www.autowatch.com.au
  23. try reliability- damn hard to kill - have a an alpine here in bits currently that has no sound for some reason.
  24. no to mention you can do a refit of the whole lot if you want.
