  1. PJ, you noticed that too! MCC, noiticed that post - see my reply in the other thread. get it done right and the car will still be there. if it worries you pop a GSM pager or quicktrak on it.
  2. all of the 34's I have worked on had smartentry (as do s2 33's ) but not an immobilser system (or transponder setup as in the s14,14a,15) 14a had a full alarm that worked on entry only (that said I could add -and did- a shock sensor to the system ) would be interested to see the follows photos pls. key barrel straight on key head - top shot showing head blade to key head that will tell me for certain what you have what model is your car? (34 obviously.) ECR34 or something else. give me that info and I'll tell you what and if you have it. pretty certian you do not.
  3. via the external switchbox - yes.
  4. walks away shaking head.... (a cap is NOT needed here!)
  5. aspen. I'm still playing with mine. its more for AV than audio though. 4 different sources on 4 different screens is a bonus!
  6. actually - battery and earth do the battery to body and the body to engine one with 2awg or better cable that will fix the current loss . bigger battery would be on the cards also as soon as you notice the dimming. caps are a patch for a MUCH bigger problem and 99% of the time are NOT needed.
  7. other point. shut down car. that poses a legal problem to the person that fitted it and the person that pushes the button on the car
  8. pj, I'm going to play devils addvocate here ( and yes I'm a dealer also.) what say I find a nice 33 and have a GSM jammer handy? that is going to kill the GSM side of the unit long enough for me to find it ( if its tucked under the dash) and turf it. welll installed - not a problem I'll move on. I like the quicktrak system for one reason- you cannot jam it. you are correct onthe downfalls though range is great if youare in the coverage area. I know of another system that is GSM based you you can track yourself but I have yet to lay hands on it or try my 'toy' on it so I cannot comment.
  9. a suggestion would be one out of a nissan patrol also. think you can get them for $200 or so if you want OEM. failing that I can do a MP3 player harness, antenna adp and a pocket for $280 shipped and ready to bolt in.
  10. a sparky first to get the car going and from there - yellow pages.
  11. I would read teh fine print on that VERY closely.
  12. styln car audio in brentliegh - see keith or travis.
  13. will be two wires in the drivers door. thin red is the one you are after. drop the switch out and look at it from there. the wire runs up the front pillar on the drivers side.
  14. he's getting better I see last one of his I looked at it took ME 10 minutes to find it. MNR 33 - pm me when you are ready.
  15. car type? (and I'll give you the wire colour.)
  16. not with a quiktrak installed. as soon as its loaded - a call is made. other method is a tilt sensor, a good alarm ( mongoose M80) and a GSM pager. load the car and it will send an SMS to you.
  17. close- a WELL installed immobilser is better than an alarm. though an Immobilser with GSM paging is still a better idea. true - it still comes down to the installation of it though. poorly fitted alarm - taken in a few minutes, well fitted its still there with a broken window.
  18. thats news to me- and I've been selling htem for 3.5 years. the new version is out now and operates on the same tower system. there is a GSM version due soon. questions www.quiktrak.com.au or 0294288900
  19. look for the blk/red wire in the radio harness. if you haven't got it connected you shouldn't have AM radio either. that wire powers teh amplifier. for the rear antenna. if you have metal tint on the rear change it as that affects the reception also.
  20. www.audioexpress.com.au sales are dependent on dealer rights to the area you are in. we are legal dealers for all gear we carry.
  21. blk/red - IGN blk/wht - start. clip those two.
  22. thats sounds familar
  23. installer/supplier will usually supply a reciept stating what the unit is and waht it conforms to. that's usually enough to make the insuance company happy.
  24. if you have a 60 or an 80 buit within the last two years it will take a time. in teh case of a 60 you need to fiddle with the module . the 80 needs option 13 turned on. remotes are a warranty item so if one stuffs up take it back to the dealer. what I meant buy zero problems was teh main unit. JD33 ( shop would be nice- that way I can keep people clear of it.)
  25. other option is to pull the radio out and pop a switch inline with the blk/red wire coming off the back of teh radio. then you can drop/raise the antenna at will.
