  1. Those rims in those sizes are always going to be expsensive. I'd suggest the Meister design would have to be the most inflated price in Australia when it comes to second hand rims - probably second only to Simmons FR's and closely followed by BBS LM's in the right offsets. But as always, you got to pay to play. What doesnt help is that these cars run very low offsets and need big diameter to look right - so the sizing is pretty unique to this platorm meaning they are even harder to come by second hand. In terms of fitment, go to www.rimtuck.com to see some different size/offset setups on a G35. A lot of these setups are more on the agressive side, so just dial it back from there and you should be fine. If you're going for big wheels and fitment, I'd say coilovers - you'll be able to dial it all in much easier. Springs will certainly ride nicer, but there is no room for error when you're selecting offsets - they'll either clear or they won't!
  2. Could get fancy, set up a proximity sensor (like on a sensor light) to switch on a high pressure cleaner or water pump with a misting nozzle pointed at your car. Cats are smart, you only have to tell them a couple of times and they work it out.
  3. From such a reputable outfit it seems strange they would try feed you such b/s. Cheers for the cost diff. So about half. I like the look of the hks rep / hks. Those looped resonators look mad. Pity you can't see them from behind the car :-/
  4. Daleo - are you pulling a grammar nazi on me?! :-p Blanket is probably the best idea - bonnet up, now that I think of it, might result in 'cat going through clutch fan'......if you forget to check engine bay before dropping bonnet in morning.
  5. Sounds good. But no s3? Reason I ask is i am in the market and it is important for me to get it functioning in English with the ability to add gps and reverse cam. If s3 is a basket case then it affects my decision.
  6. Have now read all 53 pages!! Answer is there is currently no solution for s2 but being worked on. It sounds as though it ill be easier to just splice in a tv tuner and external gps unit for display ad be done with it.
  7. This is pretty frustrating. I have read 15 pages of this thread from the start and there is nothing relevant in the first 15, just chatter.... Software hasn't even been developed. Thread could really do with a clean up or a new thread with definitive answers! So before anyone says 'read' - all I want to know is if software is available for 2004.5 (s2) or 2006 (s3)? Please :-p
  8. Holy Jesus your car looks nice - why can't I find an example this clean that wont cost me drug money!? Perfect, a drop will completete it for sure.m
  9. Went to look at luxury & performance today - cars were ok but nothing special. They weren't detailed or anything, pretty much f.o.b. condition. I would suggest they were grade 3.5 auction cars as an average, most wearing a few scars etc. The guy was nice enough to deal with but I think I'll keep searching, although it does make me even more adamant to only buy what I can see, hear and drive.
  10. Put the bonnet up at night? Alternatively - if you want to make them never want to get on the car again - take positive lead off battery - connect to jumper lead - connect other end of jumper lead to bonnet on one side - get next jumper lead and connect to bonnet on other side - connect other end of this lead to positive battery post. You know have an electrified bonnet. Cat jumps on bonnet. Nek minute. Cat gets blasted sky high.
  11. What's the price difference, seano?
  12. Get someone who can decode the nissanFAST codes - that will confirm your trim colour. But I wouldn't go through Nissan anyway - unless you like prices with lots of numbers? Have you contacted a wrecker? That is your best bet. Otherwise try type the part number in google, any model with that number will show up. You might be lucky and find the maxima part fits or some other ausdm model.
  13. He's trying to match the cream colour. I'd contact wreckers. Nisspares etc Get a part number - should be on the tag at the base of the belt. It will help the wreckers match it, you'll need the whole assembly including the reel. Have a look at M35 stageas being wrecked, they had same colour interiors and probably more commonly.
  14. Or skid rims - they would be hard as nails and smoke like crazy.
  15. After sussing out some auction sites I tend to agree with you on this.....
  16. the high will definitely go up. but no - seriously - check this out: http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp
  17. oh thanks Keith, i didn't even see your post earlier - i went google fishing to come up with that site, silly me. Righto - i'll have a sniff around there on the weekend, thanks for the tips. Lot of people are saying to me that import is the way to go. Keith, can you PM me some costs from iRev that you faced if you don't mind?
  18. Yeh i hear you - I can see you've put the work and the dollars in for sure. But i've been around the block a few times now, I've bought $600 cars and dumped 24k into it, I've bought cheap cars - modded them with top brand parts - and each scneario i've always lost huge money. The only time I've ever come close to breaking even on a car is if I mod it, and then return it to stock for sale and sell the parts off seperately. I understand you're never going to make money on mods, but you can try control the losses. So now I generally try and buy the cleanest stock car to start with at a competitive price- do bolt on mods only, which can be removed and sold easily, which generally controls the loss. Once you get into paint, body kits, big stereo installs, internal engine mods.....it becomes too hard to recoup your loss. Which I'm guessing you're starting to understand.....no offence intended at all, because i've been there. anyway - are these the guys in Bayswater? http://www.luxuryandperformancevehicles.com.au/ these are the cars they have on carsales currently.....same one i was talking about? http://csndealers.carsales.com.au/cars/results.aspx?Ns=pCar_StatusSort_Int32%7C1%7C%7CpCar_DealerSortPrice_Decimal%7C0&N=1217+285+287+4294862748+4294963846+4294963593&DealerRefID=11312&showdealership=&loc_index=0
  19. Thanks mate - i drive past that one every day too - the wherels look poxy, but I planned to go check it out in a lunch break to see what the quality was like. My stage was from SSV and it was great. What car do you drive, i'll keep an eye out! Your car looks nice, Sheldon - but probably a bit 'too' nice! Don't think I can spend that much without my balls being taken by the missus, and yeh, black interior is my preference - i'm a fussy bugger lol. I'll keep an eye on the paint, but mainly it means that unless a car is mint in the flesh, i should not be buying thinking 'oh i can get that touched up cheaply, painted etc' - accept no flaws! Thanks mate, it sounds like you're talking about the same place as gkzlah? there is somewhere that has a few on car sales, they say they're 12 mins from east link tunnel - so maybe the same place? plan to go out there as they have a few 350s plus some 370s.......which seem to be around the 30k mark now - ths is tempting, but probably stretching the budget too far.
  20. 3k?! Well I don't want a sunroof THAT bad - but would be nice. How do you find the colour matching on your paint @NORBY ? Do you notice any difference between the shading on the bumpers vs the body? And any import yards in melb you would recommend - or recommend I steer clear of?
  21. ORLY? That's no good - I don't like the cream interior that the 70th anniversary has unfortunatley.
  22. Thanks mate. The white one is SA is nice, there is also a slate grey one in vic that i like a lot (even though not white) but it's 26,500! I'm all over carsales, drive, gumtree etc. But often there are some people who know people etc....trying to make sure i've got the feelers out! There are some nice ones for import.....but i like being able to inspect with my own eyes. http://www.j-spec.co...ne-7020139.html http://www.j-spec.co...ne-7059769.html - mismatched rims.....jury is out, but at the moment i like it. As for auto - the reason i'm selling my car is purely because i'm over driving a manual too and from work (1 hour each way in CBD peak hour traffic).
  23. Hey guys, I've been testing the water, reading, learning - and I have taken a deposit on my current car this weekend just passed so can hopefully start looking for a V35. In a perfect world I would like a 2006 Premium, Auto in Pearl White with Sunroof. Preferably in Vic. Plans for the car are pretty basic - rims, coilovers, exhaust for some note and that'd be it. I don't know how likely I will be to get this combo, but we'll see how we go. I am not going to rush into something - I'm a bit OCD so if it's not a mint car to start with, then I will forever be spending money. If anyone sees anything along these lines can they let me know! Also - for any Pearl White owners, have you had any experience or issues matching the paint? I have had a pearl white stagea before and it had Nismo sideskirts - sprayed by the previous owner - but they never quite matched. Has anyone had similar issues?
  24. Yeh i'm not familiar with the V35's wiring setup - but just throwing some things out there from experience. - Hazards run on a stand alone circuit so that just about no matter what happens to the car, they still fire. So in testing that you can isolate it to the blinker circuit. - If they flash once when you hit the stalk, and you can replicate this every time, then i don't think it's a loose connection/corrosion in the globe holders but it can't hurt to check. - If you're saying V35's use an LCM (Light Control Module) then a busted relay (which is what i thought it would be) might not be as probable - but maybe do some research. - Lastly, have you changed any other lights lately? Or do you have any LED's? My BMW - when I put cheap eBay LED lights in my license plate, used to freak the indicators out - the right side would go double time and the left side woukdn't go at all. But here's the kicker, it didn't do it straight away when i installed the lights - it did it about 3 months later - when a couple of the little led bulbs burned out (eg. each globe had 10 LED's, and 2 or 3 went out). Those 2 or 3 burned out LED's, caused the resistance to drop in the circuit which set the other lights off.....it took me so long to diagnose.
