  1. ^agree. Plus they're dead set ugly. I don't really understand the concept - 2000km in one throw is not much different to 20 trips on the freeway which you'd do without thinking twice. I understand even less the people who keep the covers on to protect the car......and take it off for special occasions? It's the equivalent of plastic covers on your couch. Not having a go at you, Sean, just car bras lol. Have a look at this site. http://www.lamin-x.com/Infiniti-G35-Coupe-03-05-Aero-Paint-Protection-p/i001f2.htm These are model specific, pre cut. If applied correctly, this will go on invisible - and give you protection ALL the time. Cheaper too, I'd say.
  2. These DPE rims are teh sx
  3. eibachs are also a progressive rate spring, meaning they are OEM under normal driving circumstances but once you start to lean on them they stiffen up and the further the spring comrpesses the higher the resistance (like most springs, but in this case, even more exponentially). I had eibachs paired to Bilstien B8 shocks - I loved them. Made me wonder if I could ever go back to coilovers again.
  4. none of that is imminently life threatening - to you or the car. 1. trans fluid will discolour naturally - highly likely it's never been changed. for peace of mind its always good to do all the fluids when you get a new car. trans fluid isn't cheap though, budget a few hundred for a full flush. 2. trailing arm bushes - only worry about it if it starts to make any large knocking noises on acceleration or deceleration - also watch your rear tyre wear. beyond that - just put it on the list of 'to do' when you can afford. 3. p/s leak - depends on how much fluid it's dropping. check under where you park. if you don't give a sh1t about your driveway then it's really only a case of keeping the reservoir topped up. If you let the levels get too low you'll stuff the p/s pump. If it gets to the point where it's coming out faster than you're putting it in - that's probably when you need to look at getting your rack replaced. all pretty much as you'd expect of car of this age - wouldn't stress. only thing i'd point out is that if you've just bought the car recently - items 2 and 3 are road worthy items - if you bought it froma dealer i'd be asking for a 'please explain'.
  5. look like another american based supplier. http://rohanawheels.com/ Forge is one of many - don't know anything about them other than the guy with the bagged A4 Avant being a distributor. There is also Forged, ForgedSpecialties, Forgestar, Forgeline.....it's all becoming much of a muchness. Just got to hope quality stays key. In this style though, you can't go past the original and the best - HRE, DPE. Forged Specialities, for example, has had some very unhappy customers.... Anyway, back OT - any reason why you've gone for a square setup (11" fronts) - fitment seems a little extreme and unbalanced from the rear..... They're a nice wheel though. Keep em off the gutters! ;-)
  6. That. Looks. Amazing. Tell us more about the rims? They look like 3 piece modular ?
  7. Assume oil is empty from the block - get newspaper down under the filter, long screw driver and a BFH (big hammer ;-)) and smash screw driver through one side of the filter and out the other. Twist off. Not my favorite way - but I've been where you are before and it works.
  8. Good initiative, kudos to you mate!
  9. BMW rims are 5x120 PCD so nope. These are some similar rims though which are 5x114.3 19 x 9.5 BE GTS-AV http://evojm27.wordpress.com/2012/08/26/speed-style-hector-torres-jrs-06-mazdaspeed-6/
  10. Pretty sure it's not usually possible to machine slotted rotors. A lot of people won't do it because it's really rough on the machine and breaks the carbide tips. If you're going to be doing a few track days a year, and you're chewing through rotors at this rate - maybe it's time to look at an upgrade? There isn't really any mystery at play here - heavy car that is relatively underbraked doing hard track work is going to consume brakes. Getting arguably bettery quality rotors (stoptech) might get you a couple more laps - but i don't think it's going to be a night and day difference, nor will it change the fact that the whole package just isn't up to the task you're asking of it on a track - which means you'll probably find yourself back here again in another 20,000km's. There is a group buy going on 6-pot calipers with floating discs for under 2k in the group by section of this forum. It might seem like a big upfront cost but you will get a benefit out of the extra stopping power - be less demanding and cause less wear and tear on your stock units, depending on how long you keep the car you might break even in a shorter amount of time than you think Or second hand Brembos F&R can be had for around the 2k mark?
  11. satin grey wrap
  12. Go a satin gun metal grey like the new M3s. Get some class. Matte black is played out.
  13. He means exactly what you have just said (and also what I have said) - that the reverse camera displays fine - but once the car shifts out of reverse it doesn't return to the info screen - it goes to the tv input.
  14. yeah but urologists are 'always pissing and moaning'......badda-ching!!! lol
  15. i thought the e36 SMG was the one to steer clear of - and the e46's are ok? there is a minty e36 M# with SMG in Estoril Blue on car sales - has been there for a good 6 months - reckons he's spent 13k on getting the trans overhauled - but I still couldn't trust it........but believe me, i was considering it over the V.
  16. I have read through this entire thread - and it appears the answer to my question might be only a recent find. I want to buy a reverse camera off ebay - and have it show through the stock headunit automatically when reverse is selected. I don't care about TV or NAV or anything like that - just want reverse camera as i park in a lot of tight spaces. correct me if i'm wrong here but the solutions is: 1) Run Video-In to spare Aux in factory TV Tuner and ground Cont 1 using a relay driven by reverse lamp 12v. The draw back being that once the reverse camera image shows up, you need to manually switch stock head unit back to another menu to get rid of it?? Has anyone got any further than this? Is there a magical cable that Chris Rogers has that can take this pain away!?
  17. Thanks fellas. I think I have found what I'm after.
  18. Good Km's if legit - a sin to paint those Rays black though!
  19. Link pls? Seen a few stock silvers.
  20. For re5, Scotty
  21. Lol. Wait until you do that in a car with a 'lokka' diff. Mate had one, they're like a button clutch - their either on (full locked diff) or off (open single) - its just not very predictable as to when the switch takes place - you can be going brought a bend, put in a tiny bit of power and all of a sudden you're in full locked mode and you're looking out the side window. Awesome or straight line work though. Sorry for o/t. Who in melb is best recommended for the trans go?
  22. Open diff (single spinner). I can tell you're doing this with the car on though - if you turn the car off, in D, grab a wheel and spin it - the wheel on the other side will spin the opposite way. On an LSD, if you do this, both wheels will turn the same direction. Another more enjoyable test is to go on a patch of gravel, reef the wheel to full lock and stomp on it – an open diff will spin the inside wheel and you'll move forwards in a slow circle - an LSD will spin both and start whipping you round hehe.
  23. Nice car mike, but you're right - too exxy - and black!
  24. ^that and all the ones that were landed 5-10 years ago when S13's were the rage are now trashed, thrashed, defected off the road, in ditches or in parts. they're a 20yrd old car that is no longer desireable so anything that hasn't been looked after is worth more in parts than they are on the used market - so they just end up in junk yards. it's no different to any other car - it's like saying 'why don't we see VL's on interceptors any more.
  25. think they're just a more chuckable platform - bit lighter - torquey motor. not trying to start a debate or anything - i'm sure there are pros and cons to both and having owned neither and never drifted on a track i'm probably not qualified to answer! but seriously - car you drive every day is, for me, how it looks, feels, sounds. I think considerations like 'which car will spin second better' or 'which car will hold more angle when i go gutter to gutter down my street' are fairly irrelevant in a daily......lol
