  1. Dave, rips has said on video (correct me if im wrong please Rob) that their motors use Tomei pumps. If i had a different balancer id be happy to push mine over 8000rpm, thats a jun pump and large sump. But the thing is - they dont need over 8000rpm to make decent power
  2. Does the astra have a seat by you aswel? Cool write up, i suspect this would be very popular for the GTR guys with worn right hand side bolsters
  3. For the price you couldnt go wrong
  4. Justjap in Sydney has them.
  5. -10's are close but not an exact match
  6. Oh im sure he will aswel Thats the plan, so info can be posted up for future RB30 owners Hopefully Rob will post up his experience here also
  7. Dave ive got a couple of motors spare. You've got ages until you can drive it again anyway
  8. ^^^Thats the old motor and setup. Here's the current setup; -Stock head ports -Tomei cams 270 IN and EX, 10.25mm lift IN and EX -Tomei buckets -Tomei springs -Tomei head restrictor -Adj cam gears (still set to zero though ) -Mahle 87mm pistons -Spool rods -ACL Race bearings -Fully prepped crank inc collar -JUN oil pump -N1 water pump -Fully prepped block (no hardbloc used) -BCNR33 N1/24U balancer -Custom 8plus litre oil sump (baffles, gates etc) -Alloy radiator -Header tank -Splitfires -Custom fuel rail -1000cc injectors -3 x Bosch 044's and custom lines, speedflow fittings, huge undercar surge tank etc -Nismo adjustable FPR -ARC airbox -ARC intercooler, Hard pipe kit -HKS thermostat controlled oil cooler and relocator -HKS GTRS Turbo kit (ceramic coated) -Stock GTR manifolds (ceramic coated) -Tomei dumps (ceramic coated) -HKS front pipes (ceramic coated) -Oil return from head -All balanced of course! Plus the rest of the usual gear (R3C Osgiken clutch, ProfecB specII EBC etc) Had dramas with a recently purchased Autronic so tuned on old ECU. Limited to 18psi due to map resolution, tune took all of 45minutes in total. Will retune as soon as the Autronic is fixed and increase boost and ignition, also cams will be dialled in. This graph is torque vs power; Needs more boost, but is already MUCH more usable then the old setup New motor and turbo setup is already coming together, wont be long now until its in the car and tuned
  9. On the plus side; -It wouldnt use much petrol -No one will steal it -......thats all But seriously a daily driver is very handy
  10. So, just dont bounce it off the limiter if you know its an issue
  11. Hey everyone! With some bigger HP/KW cars coming out of the woodwork and a lot of discussion between RB30 differences, one thats important is the sump adaptor kits available. There's always been the widely accepted ProEngines kit; But now RIPS have made a big splash with their mainly "stock" blocks and cranks. There's been some locals (well, local to us Aussies) using the RIPS billet kits, shanef has a kit in the pipeline aswel as a couple of other regulars on here. So this thread is just for general discussion and a kind of XXXX kit vs XXXX kit, not to trash talk, but to have factual info for anyone considering the swap from RB20/25/26 etc to the RB30 bottom end. Please post up any random info that can be of use! Pics, prices - whatever! To start the discussion off; Why does RIPS sell a billet kit when the huge numbers have been pulled on their "normal" sump adaptor kit? Also, will they be priced closely to the widely accepted ProEngines kit? Discuss
  12. Absolutly mate, over time it wouldve had a heap of different setups
  13. Benm - im not suprised Rocket dont go there, as you said, everyone there wouldve already bought something from them so no point preaching to the choir
  14. The car ive been in with LM's felt way laggier than the 2540 cars ive been in.....?! Would be suprised if the MCR car didnt go to GTRS's after the 2540's
  15. Hey guys Quick question for the guys running more than usual boost; what brand clamps do you use? At 7500rpm in 3rd yesterday one of the pipes blew off the rear turbo, which is quite annoying to say the least. So instead of just putting it back on and having it go again, whats the *best* clamp to use? Also, from experience what boost have you run without pipes blowing off? Here's 2 i found that look decent, from what ive read since yesterday the wiggins ones are the best - discuss
