  1. i used to use 90/10 revalved stockers and all they did was make the front wheels come off the deck on launch. Very spectacular yes...good for my 60' times no. Put the HKS items back in and instantly picked up a 10th of a sec.to the 60' mark. Id try what i said about adjusting the Teins...then try your stockers...see what works best...easy
  2. ive just forgotten how to build your engine
  3. I run HKS circuit coilovers on our drag car and am 60'ing 2nd fastest in the country on radials....took us about 1 hour of testing to get them right and havent touched them since. You want soft bump on the rear with hard rebound...and opposite on the front...this allows the car to weight transfer on launch and hook up. Also bring the ride height up to allow more suspension travel. Hope this helps.
  4. Many of my relatives have served this country in both World Wars, a few of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice and were burried where they fell in battle. Anzac day has always been a special day for me to reflect on their commitment and bravery. This year Stacey and I will be travelling down to attend the dawn service at the war memorial in Canberra. Would like to see if anyone would be keen to attend and have a few beers/breakfast afterwards. Any takers?
  5. Tomei gates are made from high temperature neoprene and will open with oil surge on them. JUN one you have pictured is a better design though as it allows retention of windage tray (crank scraper) and tomei does not. nice product and good luck with the sale mate.
  6. as i said...everyone has their own ideas...all the big revving RB race engines built in this country that ive been around and/or involved with (and ive been around a few) have never had this sort of modification...Yes Jap springs that are used in all these engines have always been spot on JUN Tomei etc.... and im talking about 1000hp+ engines revving over 10 000rpm...if they don't require it im bloody sure a street engine wont. Does that 60 engines include the ones Harris' have built for you or the ones that never *********** and people demanded their ***** back on?
  7. Dave's engine block, crank and head we all dropped off at machine shop today. Should be all machined up early next week and then all reciprocating components off to be balanced. Stay tuned!
  8. Tomei make a bucket...contact Hi Octane Racing and have a chat to Ian. Let him know the base circle cam have and the shims you are currently using that way the correct set of "thicker" buckets can be ordered so that you dont have to "overshim" it.
  9. I can supply you one...Aussie made product...have a look at latest HPI magazine (our car on the cover) to see how it was done.
  10. those people who have been prompt and already paid will have looms posted to them today
  11. your always there
  12. on low reving V8 dinosaur engines yes...but given the relatively cheap price of aftermarket springs and the high reving multi valve application this is a process id strongly advise against. but everyone is entitled to their own ideas. stock springs will be fine to use with 8.5mm lift if they pass a free length, pressure load and squareness test
  13. worn valve seats and/or valves may cause you to run a thinner shim than standard...but always check the clearance when changing camshafts even with the same base circle. Remember the intake will be different to the exhaust when using STD valves.
  14. the lifter bucket has a shim inserted in it to set the lifter to cam base circle clearance. the shim sits between the top of the valve stem and lifter bucket and unless a spring has failed to the point it cannot properly close the valve shut, it (the spring) has zero determination on what shims are selected. not sure what Gary/Sydneykid is on about
  15. want it built properly? we will do it...in Newcastle too
