Autronic Sm4 Install Issues
Swiper the Fox replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The digital input for the Aircon is incorrectly configured...its operating the aircon clutch all the time...hence the soliniod is drawing power and flattening the battery. Disconnect the connector to the aircon clutch and listen to it disengage...charge the battery up first. Leave it disconnected and see if you have battery power the next day after the battery is fully charged. -
Checking Afrs Using Wideband In Tailpipe
Swiper the Fox replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
engine lasting 2% of the time...unfortunately Duncan knows exactly what you mean.(not a dig) yes EGT's showed up a faulty injector very quickly in the Wedlock car when the AFR's only appeared slightly rich. Using methanol this could have quickly hydraulic'd(sp*) a cylinder and ended in an expensive mess -
T88 no...T62 yes...as long as the cars weight is right and the set-up is there. GK's run out of puff in the topend and their rating is a tad optimistic, but i suppose Mark has already explained all that to you. The set-up sounds identical to mine...save for the carbon goodies. You should have just bought mine for 59K and saved the N1 for what it is. Did Mark sell you the MoTeC out of his car? All the best with the build...its great to see more 'big' cars being built.

Civil licence is enough depending on how fast you plan to go...11's require a super street licence and anything faster requires a full drag licence. 500K's is heaps mate...i ran 9's on my engine with about that on it. Modern piston and ring technology is far superior than the days of huge run-ins and babying for 1000's of k's is long gone. Jason there may be an oportunity to test prior at a private hire im attending...ill let you know if its possible for you to come.

Checking Afrs Using Wideband In Tailpipe
Swiper the Fox replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
good point Ryan...but i cant comment. The cat in my car is long gone...i do have a magic cat from Magic Performance in Sydney to run on the street, but these days i rarely drive the car on the street. -
i thought it would have been a little nastier than that.

Checking Afrs Using Wideband In Tailpipe
Swiper the Fox replied to Wacky Dee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
egt is how the big drag cars are tuned...thats how Mark is tuning the Wedlock Camry. The initial tune on the dyno using wideband in the dump pipe then perfected on the track using egt's that are logged and are checked after each run. My car is tuned using a dump pipe mounted Bosch sensor with a tailpipe mounted one to cross reference the readings. Dunc's ive mounted my sensor about 200mm from the turbine outlet...not good for longevity but the best for accuracy when tuning this way. Techedge recommend mounting the sensor much further down the dump so it is not affected by the heat as much, this is only recommended to make the sensor last longer. -
We are getting (thanks to my V8 supercar contacts) CSR control fuel delivered in 205Ltr drums. Its the best way to buy it if you are not able to get it from a nearby source.

Two.06l Update (twoogle)
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Drag only Marko...weight saving and awesome stopping power. Pulling up from 240km/h generates the heat required...only good for one or two big stops. -
Apoligies for giving an example with someones name in it...that was maybe a little too much. (mods please edit name out) Calling my engine a drag engine is like me calling yours one. Show me an aussie built RB 30 thats so much more outstanding than what ive got. Im building one to see what all the fuss is about and see if it will actually make what ive already got better. I think the big turbo may enjoy a bit more air...so we will see what just changing the bottom end will achieve. You were off the mark refering to my engine as a drag engine 9K...that was the point...you have no idea what went into it and how it was put together. The focus when building was to make the engine make as much low down grunt (torque) as possible with the GT-RS turbo's. The reason for this is im making zero boost at the startline as i was using a normal Power FC with no anti-lag, two step etc. When the clutch was popped the car had to be right in the meat of its torque curve pulling the car hard off the line. This resulted in the awesome 60' times which was the real secret in getting a car with limited power into the 9's...it was 60'ing faster than Kier's car with less power and more weight (1470kg) and it didn't need an OS Giken 3L to do this. Only Mark Jacobsen has 60'd a GTR on radials faster than what our car has. A high revving RB26 that has a big flat 5000rpm torque curve is what most circuit guys would kill to have. Thanks

Two.06l Update (twoogle)
Swiper the Fox replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The car is being looked at in regards to anti-lag set-up, clutch air gap (need more travel with the slave), tune is being tweaked for more power etc. Hope to get it off the line more consistently and be competitive. Will be track testing prior to event. Ill keep you posted. -

Drag engine....your kidding right? Guys who have tuned this car have noted and even said "this is the coolest RB engine ive ever seen" you could tune the car from go to wo and not even worry about the temp...it simply doesn't get hot and that was without the 21 row earls oil cooler with thermoblock which was removed from the car. That engine combo would outpunch most circuit RB's you would care to name. The cooling channel mods to the head and all the header tanks and big radiator etc ensured the engine was an all-rounder...Contrary to popular belief a big flowing head with big cams actually brings the torque on earlier and hold it on for longer...ill dig up a graph to show you how rediculous the torque curve was with the RS's before we did the head. We didn't run mega ignition advance as Jim understood the budget and ensured the engine was tuned so i could flog the thing all day without a worry...it had 5 degree's less advance than your street tune actually (the Martin Donnon pump fuel tune one). That engine was not a drag engine...it was much better than that thanks mate. No block filling etc was used also. The car was built as a tough GTR...we just happen to drag race it...its very annoying when ill directed comments like your post above are made when you have no idea what went into building the thing. The car is only now starting to become a drag car but will still use a long engine thats not really built for the job. Once i get the RB30 built then it will become less of an all rounder as ill be filling the block with Hardblock. your post was way off the mark...sorry.

Big Single V Big Twins (~500+rwhp)
Swiper the Fox replied to Brockas's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
peak torque 1500rpm earlier should help at lot at the track. HKS 2835's have never impressed me...the guy i originally bought my HKS 2530 kit off 'upgraded' to them...they never made the expected result for him. You really need to pump big boost through them to work with a big head and cams...if not...forget it. Good result though...nice one. -
i dont think you could beat the stock extrude honed manifolds...especially if they are black coated.

i replotted my 3rd and 4th gear over each other last night and it looks nothing like that...one line is just under the other...ill scan it for you if you like.
