  1. Well there is no specific defect for having a straight through exhaust system.. You can however be defected for being too loud, having no cat converter, or having the exhaust hang too low. You'll get a red defect for having no cat converter (along with a VERY hefty fine). You'll get a yellow defect for being too low (lower than 100mm at any point). You'll get a yellow defect for being too loud (louder than 91db). I dont know what the fines are for the above, except the cat converter which is about $10,000. There's no defect or fine for just having a straight through style exhaust system unless it breaks one of the above rules... I'm sure theres other rules too but they're the ones I know about..
  2. Ditto that.. Thats why the weights are placed on the inside of the rim, so that the centrifugal force actually pushes the weight onto the rim when its spinning. Whoever told you that is full of it CeJay!
  3. He's not getting misfire until higher in the rev range, so how will unplugging one at a time do anything? At idle all 6 should be working correctly so he will get a drop in the revs across all 6 cylinders wont he?
  4. Sounds like your mechanic could have put plugs in with the standard 1.1mm gapping. Skylnes tend to like 0.8mm gapping more when the coil packs get old. As your coil packs get old, they cant put out as much spark as they used to so the sparkplug doesnt have enough "oomph" to arc across the gap. By reducing the gap you increase your chance of arcing and creating a spark. You dont want it too small though because the smaller the gap, the less intensity of the spark. If the spark isnt intense enough then your fuel may not burn as completely. You can buy a feeler guage for about $10 from Repco and gap the sparkplugs yourself if you are comfortable with that. I'd definitely try that before spending the $500 on Splitfires. Alternatively you can just replace the spark plugs with NGK BCPR6ES type which come pre-gapped to 0.8mm. 5. Happy birfday miss anna! Sorry I couldnt make it to drinks... Hope you had a great night!!!
  6. Sounds like a misfire. Easiest way to fix is to replace spark plugs first, if that doesnt fix it replace your coilpacks. Most people use Splitfires, but there are other alternatives.. Do a search, theres heaps of info around on this subject. Any particular reason why you posted this in the NSW thread?
  7. Hahaha... I was thinking - How can you possibly fight off three guys whil sitting on a motorbike, and how could you smell spew through your bike helmet?? lol
  8. No extinguisher may be required, but you'd be silly to go without one. There have been numerous 'road registered' cars go up in flames.. There was an RX7 that went up at an SAU track day a year or so ago. A 1.5kg extinguisher isnt going to put out a serious fire, but it may mean the difference in time for your car to be completely destroyed before the track officials get there with proper extinguishers.
  9. If it's normally defectable then you wont be able to get it an engineer to certify it. Engineers abide by the book and are supposed to certify that modifications are compliant with ADR's. If they dont comply they wont certify it! And no, it wont make you invincible from cops.. they will probably still try to defect you for something if you're being a prick to them!
  10. V nice!!
  11. Impossible to be a coincidence.. there's almost only single digits of those things in oz so its gotta be the one that crashed a few weeks ago
  12. Bet ya the guy who owns it is chinese

  16. Black R8? If so, that guy lives around Cherrybrook somewhere... Drives past my place all the time.
  17. Yep, thats the abs "module". I -think- it incorporates the hydraulic motor (or "pump" if you want to call it that) as well. That unit circled is the bit that I bought for $80. I chucked it in and my ABS light disappeared so that whole unit was the problem in my case. This is exactly what was written on the invoice for the brake place I took mine too when they diagnosed the fault:
  18. It looks like this (circled) It's that whole unit. Surely you'll be able to find one in one of the wrecking threads, or post up a WTB thread. Get the error code before you go to too much trouble though. It could just be a dirty sensor!
  19. From my hazy memory it was $80 or so Edit: Yep... just looked it up: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/ab...l&hl=module Supposedly from what that guy said in that thread they are $4500 new... I find that hard to believe... Maybe the whole kit is, but not just the pump/motor!
  20. I had the same problem. Bought a second hand ABS pump off the forums and put it in. Problem solved. Consult cable should tell you the exact cause though. Sensors going bad is another common cause I think.
  21. Man that GT is surely one of the most beautiful cars designed lately! Spotted one in the flesh the other day - gorgeous!
  22. Unless there was something particularly supercar-like about her R33 i think you're in the wrong thread
