S13 Sprint/Time Attack Style Build
No Crust Racing replied to No Crust Racing's topic in Motorsport Builds
Max plates and a little extra from bolts was -3.5 and I ran like 3 or so I think. Jooga said he runs -3.5 to 4 though on slicks also. I had to stand the knuckle up to get wheel clearance so will have lost .5-1 deg from that, so I guess 25mm should give me that back easily enough? -

How far do I go with these LCA extensions? 25 or 35mm? -

They have some options there for sure, cheers. My mate, Joog Air Racing, loves TS and does run an LS, but it's mid 300rwkw, and he's had wins etc. I will have more power on hand on high boost, but whether it can do it for 10 laps is another thing, which will be why people cap the power at mid 300s I guess. Plus he has much bigger brakes and has needed to go a bit more expensive on wheel bearings as slicks do strain them more. Suspension wise the care isn't wild, few extended and reinforced bits, gktech stuff etc, but he does have grip knuckles (which is more about getting bmp steer and roll centre correction, but I already have those on the arm/ball joint themselves) and is now going some hot spec knuckle/arm setup from canada for a few k. What is "MA" stuff sorry? -

Already have tubs on the way (was meant to be my xmas present from the missus lol) If we need to cut the guard back up underneath these or bigger flares then so be it, this car is not being preserved as a mint condition barn find to sell later, it was bought to be used. Think it has about 8.5deg caster currently and I can't see me wanting/needing more but I am yet to drive it on slicks so who knows. -

Extended LCAs seem like the go then. Seems it's a toss up between DIY kit like I posted and doing 25mm on the current arms and not having to remove/refit ball joints or buying 10mm longer R33 and swapping in the ball joints. I lean towards the mod path because then I get 25mm extension and it's plated in for strength. Flares on front only would look silly, were you drinking when you posted this Duncan?! I certainly don't have lock to lock at the moment with the guard plastics there, tubs will help that as will my slightly smaller slicks but I should probs work off this size so I can run 295 semi's later as required. ATP tubs, I don't mind cutting them up for cooler pipes etc if needed. I have no class, the car is just being built "because". I would love to run clubsprint at WTAC but after talking some to some guys who did it, it seems like a 10-20k weekend, just to be there (I think one of them managed a 3rd but times have improved since then). So that leaves my local club categories where my car ends up in with all the race cars so basically anything goes. Or the sprint series at Winton where I'd likely be in C2 class but I dunno the specifics of the rules there. Winton Motor Raceway | The Nation's Action Track! | Winton BAC Sprint Series (wintonraceway.com.au) OR if I wanted to smash the car up I could go racing with the lunatics in Thunder Sports where pretty much anything goes mod wise I think, deepest pockets or lots of talent for the win, of which I have neither lol I'll have a suss and see what's the best choice (guards or flares) and have a look at some flared S13. When John posted his earlier I was not a fan =\ -

I have roll centre adjusting ball joints already so I was considering this. Cheap and easy? https://rbfactory.shop/products/d-i-y-25mm-lca-extension-set-for-silvia-s12-s13-s14-s15-180sx-cefiro-dimple-die -

It had -3.5 up front, but I've taken some out for clearance, though after adding the spacers I may be able to put that back. It used to max at -2.5 prior to those camber bolts. I'm thinking extended LCA, but does that alter clearance to the shock or nah? -

Alright alright alright, So test fitting last night, 18x10 ET20, 305 Pirelli Slicks. - Calipers cleared nicely (received my R34 GTT Caliper bolts which fit into the caliper, cannot test on knuckle yet as I still need a 14mm jobber bit) - Shock towers fouled up front, fine out back. - Adjusted camber bolt in the shock mount to stand the knuckle up, not enough. - Chucked on some little 10mm machine spacers from another project on the wheel studs to simulate ET10, and now we have this little bit of clearance shown below, is that enough? Given I will likely need to add camber for slicks I am thinking no? - Could extend LCA's, in y head you can do this to add camber and not change rim to shock clearance, is that correct? - Front fouls guard plastics during turns, but I have tubs on the way already (realised I will have less space for intake, oil cooler etc). - Looks like they clear at the rear of the front guards, but IO had considered cutting/folding those for air extraction (and maybe guard vents on top DTM style?) - Rears fit fine, though the inner guard lip we trimmed back will need to be trimmed further or cut/folder and either camber added (currently -1.5) or slightly larger flares/guards fitted. Maybe just got 50mm widebody guards front and rear? Those flares are 25mm already and I'm not a huge fan of the bigger 50mm version, maybe they could look OK colour coded to the car when it gets painted. Thoughts/comments/experience welcomed. -
Which Part of the cage is the Sainz bars sorry? for us cage noobs The extra a pillar bar intersecting the front legs?

My brake fluid is yellow, diff fluid is yellow. There are no other fluids in that area, there's no gearbox in the car and nothing dipping from above etc. JustJap are replacing it when they get stock after showing it to ZSS. To me it looks like when grease "sweats" and you get a thinner residue trickling down between spaces. Picked up some slicks and borrowed some rims from a mate to do some test fitting to work out what we need to do body work/suspension wise to fit it all. -

Was looking over the car last night with a mate, and how's this.. Does that look like the bearing is leaking to you? This hasn't even had a wheel mounted or been on the ground lol Reached out to Justjap to discuss. Also did some shake downs on over last few days and the weekend on the rail trail with the family then on some basic trails near my place solo, was good fun. Will be doing more soon I think, just seeing what comes up sore first lol I live across the road from a Distillery so stopping buy for a beer or a Whiskey is a nice bonus -

I forgot you managed to get 295s under it, that will help for sure. Which track you going to shake down at? -

Oh man if only... Yep I've been made acutely aware as I've been swapping rotors over. I'm inclined to just kick off with an Enkei or something and see how we go though I note HFM are doing GT-R replica forged wheels for just over 2k, but not in 18x10 or 10.5 so I've asked if they are doing anything in that size as they were seeking feedback. They're following me on Instagram now too after I posted about the rotors (tryna build that audience and will keep trying to help you guys build yours). -
I vaguely remember there was something about it when I did my plates/subframe bushes but it might have just been a forum post I read.

Ouch, I don't tend to kerb hope "too" much but Winton has some kerbs that I feel I must use for optimum line etc, all of this could change in the moves to slick and having some power etc. I'll just see what's around, I know i can buy brand new Rota's for under $1500 and just send it, Enkei's are closer to 2k, and this is one area I am trying not to go too flash with. -

Wheel nuts arrived finally from the black friday sale... Also this should arrive this week, it's the D7, missus got the Xtrada 7 hardtail, this will allow us to go for rides with the kids but also give me something to do solo/with my mates as a hobby while I keep working on the car. Because Prado's had to be neutered to not cannibalise LC sales, it has a stupid barn door that necessitates a full swinging arm bike rack, managed to find a used yakima full swing for like $350. Early testing with the kids bikes show it to be fiddly AF and probs a pain to get 4 bikes on, see if we need to shell out 1k+ for something else soon enough. Basic bikes are stupid money, that's about 4k in pedal bikes that dont come with pedals... you gotta buy those separate and these are just entry level apparently 0_0 -

Understood. I do keep it in mind as I will be going slicks and pushing harder, but I have seen plenty of guys running Enkeis and Cosmis etc on slicks on light cars like mine and had no issues. The issues seem more prevalent with heavier cars and drifting. Is there such thing as a cheap forged 18x10? -

Yeah I know the thread/pitch etc I think but I'm not 100% on the length. lol no need for anything that flash, just some 18s will do and I'm only looking at Rota's or maybe some Enkei RPFs etc Nothing flash this is budget racing. -

Sold all the all 4 stud gear, paid for my calipers at least. Fitted the other knuckle and tested fitted all calipers/rotors to work out what's needed. Need R34 GT-T Caliper bolts all round, existing braided lines all work OK, need to drill front knuckle for 14mm so will source that bit, still need pads but need to wait for Intima to get Type RS front and back, in Feb I think Johnny said. Need BM57 (anyone know if that works with R33 booster as i still have that). No chance I was getting my spare 17s over the rotor and caliper so to have it rolling I will leave caliper off until I get some 18s. Did a little shed tidy after so many projects so I can mess it up again. Keep forgetting to hang my freebie gktech banners I got from the Black Friday sale for extra jdm points.
