Hey stranger, yeah slow progress but progress none the less. I see you didn't die in hospital Good news -
Umm what can I add here.... 2018 Nankang AR1s: Not bad, seem to be quite temperamental to what tyre pressures they are run. I found them quite easy to overheat when going for PBs and if you did you would need to give them a solid lap to recover then go again. Wear rate was not bad for a cheap tyre, I did 6 events on them (3-4 sessions per event, 6-8 laps per session tracks ranging from 1k to 3.2k long) and they still had tread to go and were sold on the rims as being useful tyres. Grip at the limit was reasonably progressive with decent feel about what was happening under you and a bit of audible feedback. I drove that season with a win it or bin it mentality, go for a PB every session or stuff up so I was rough on the tyres and also had some brake balance issues early in the season that resulted in some minor lock ups and they took it. Do not try and switch back to a few year old Federal RS-R that you've already done a bunch of events on, they will be hard AF and you will basically just drift the entire lap 0_0 Hard to compare new AR1 to new RS-R (not RS-RR, the older RS-R) as I had them in different sizes and car changed a lot during that time but I can say the AR1 had more outright grip but less consistency. AR1 had a narrower window for its best performance but gave better results when it was in it.

60min idle time sounds like bullshit already, zero temp rise sounds like mega bullshit. Or faulty sensors... Anyway, get an airbox, it will help regardless.
-
My scoop is literally a 90mm PVC pipe and elbow that drops below the headlight and is cable tied to the front bar mesh #nocrustracing

In my car the air box is "pretty good" and goes down to the chassis rails, it's fed by a 90mm pipe and is open to the back of the headlight which has cool air moving around it. IATs are good under track conditions, any car idling in traffic will suffer. Just saying, a sealed airbox is not the be all and end all of for a car in motion - you just need as much external air coming in as possible and that's good enough.
-
You don't need to "seal" an airbox, you just need the air coming in to positively pressurise the space enough to stop hot air being drawn in. Just having an air guide can be enough on its own depending what's feeding it.

Finished installing bushes last night, I found it easier with the vice as I couldn't get nice angles in the press and there was too much damaging occurring to the paint as I tried (had to touch that up). Put the hub in and fitted knuckle to the car, forgot the balljoint nut was only finger tight and I do not have a 21mm spanner, only socket so pulled it all apart again to get at the nut lol The little black inserts are a bit fiddly and like to pop out when fitting the arms, also noticed i had a loose nut on the camber arm, just a locking nut though and the assemble can't move unless rotated or strips the thread so it was fine. I am tossing up if I buy some gktech grip knuckles for the front from a mate of mine. I already have high misalignment tie rod ends and extended ball joints for roll centre correction but apparently these knuckles, + what i have getst he geometry basically back to stock when lowered - $600 with some used hubs and some brake duct mounts modded on to them... I also sold the dash/interior to a handsome gentleman and his patient partner, i did my best to convince her he needed more shed space too. Johnny got me the hook up on some rear rotors, popped one on to have a look, nice! -

NCR is on Insta now, nothing you haven't seen yet, just starting to build some content. No Crust Racing (@nocrustracing) -
I see it, it's just a shit pic. You could've moved to the right and taken it looking back at the whole thing. You amateurs will never make it on the gram...
