Welcome back Walter. You had to give into the dark side again ( sooner or later )
-
Sensor went in a little while ago and the engine idles quite a bit better but still has some faint signs of popping out the exhaust which I'm convinced can be tuned out ( car's overdue for some TLC on the dyno ). I pulled the old O2 sensor out ( about 4 years old ) only to find it had the following stamped on it: FORD Can't even remember what place fitted it but the meat pie part is out and the sushi part is now in
-
Used it for a month but have gone back to Optimax 98. Just can't see enough bang for the bucks to justify it.
-
FYI, I won't be there for the start. I'll catch up with you guys at the entrance of the National Park ( since I live in Sutherland ). See ya there
-
I'll put half a cow in the boot of the line. That will feed you ( alone ) and keep me well under the speed limit

Can I come too if I promise to be good ??

Hot Weather, Intercoolers And Insurance
TokyoTaxi replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
p1r48r, if you have concerns about the big shinny intercooler thing at all you could go for a ARC SMIC considering you are going to keep the boost low Awesome stealth mod ! StOjA, one of the best kit's for a 32 GTST ( IMO ) is the TRUST V-SPL since it bolt's up perfectly, there's no need to cut any 6" holes in your body work, the return pipe from the cooler to the engine runs mostly in the cool air flow and not in the engine bay, right in the path of hot air from the radiator and there's minimal cutting of the bumper / reo required. It does depend on you $ situation though -
IMO, ever since Renault got their hands on Nissan, the Nissan traditions / heritage have gone out the window in favour of things like this.

From my experiences, I've found that with 32's get noisy G/Box Input Shaft Bearings and Reverse Idler Bearings. I have also known 31 and 32 G/Box's to carry on working fine with these noises for 100,000+km so......... Maybe try replacing the G/box oil with some Redline Shockproof Lightweight and see if the noise goes away within a week or two. Cheaper than a gearbox rebuild ( I know, I just did mine ).

Congrats Adrian, and also condolences as you will now probably become one of us ............. those who are slaves to our Skyline's
-
Notice on this "second one" that he/she is running the UN-FILTERED AFM directly to the rear of the radiator. Half arsed my thinks.......

IMHO - Timing belt and tesioner + idler bearings ( a must ) - Water Pump ( a must ) - replace oil pressure sender ( a must ) - rear main engine oil seal ( a must ) - Oil Pump ( a maybe ) - Get A/C compressor overhauled and electromagnetic clutch replaced ( a maybe but it's a good time to do it ) - replace the hoses at the back of the engine. ( the hard ones to get to ) ( a maybe ) - replace welsh plugs ( a maybe ) - and lastley, properly clean the engine bay before re-installing engine. Just some ideas for you

That DR30 has possibilities !! I wonder if you could fit a Q45 in there with twin hair dryers Drooool !!

My Gtst Hates Uneven Roads
TokyoTaxi replied to dancn's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Firstly, I'd get the wheel alignment checked ( front and rear ) and at the same time get them to check over all the bushes, bearings and joints for wear ( including steering rack & tie rod ends ). Then if no joy, maybe do a HICAS diagnostic check and see if that gives you any indications ( hell, do it anyway, it's fun to watch ) -
I'll support this too. Have dealt with Ritsuko from Perfectrun many times and they are great to deal with. Once you've placed your order you'll get a EMS track / trace number to follow your order from Japan to your front door Maybe I'm lucky but I've never had to wait more than 2 weeks for a part to be delivered.

I'm assuming there are some member's who are not sure what an O2 Sensor looks like so here's a couple of pics
-
Hey B, Here's where I'm at now. On a hot day ( around 30 + degrees ) at idle I'm still getting a faint and intermittent popping at the exhaust and idle fluctuation of around 50rpm ( misfire ). Other than that it's fine. So far I've replaced Spark Plugs ( with new BCPR6ES ), Crank Angle sensor ( 2nd hand ), AAC Valve ( 2nd hand ) Ignition Control Module ( 2nd hand ), Throttle Body with TPS ( 2nd hand ) and checked Splitfire Coil Packs ( coils seem fine ). So..... I'm going to install a brand new OEM O2 sensor ( picking up today ) and see how that goes and if no joy, I'm thinking it might be an issue with the ECU tune ( chipped stock ECU ) and will pop it on the dyno see what shows. I will say one thing though..... Now that I've replaced all those parts with cleaned and really good condition 2nd hand parts ( lot of hunting around !! ), the car goes like a rocket

How do you guys afford such nice cars?!
TokyoTaxi replied to Jaxe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Cheers. I honestly never even considered that it would happen amoungst car enthusiasts but there's always one low life prick who screws things up for the rest. I actually used to get a kick out of seeing the owners face when he/she would start the car up in my garage with a new 3" zorst fitted. Lots of 's Was also fun modding cars and not a cent coming out of MY pocket -

TokyoTaxi replied to Jaxe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I used to work on cars in my garage on the weekends for extra $'s which paid for the mods on my car. It was actually really cool cause I got to meet heaps of people, make money, the customer got work at a good price from an HONEST mechanic, and they got the choice of hanging around and watching their car being worked on or even hopping on a creeper and rolling under the car to watch or even help ( very limited occasions ). Unfortunately all that came to a stop when I let all my customer's know that I was going to be away on holiday's for 2 weeks. Came home after the holidays to find the garage had been broken into and heaps of stuff was stolen. I don't mod my car much now & no more track days etc etc. Once bitten....... Now I just try to keep it running sweet Oh, and I don't work in IT . -
I got this game the day it came out and started playing. I was lovin it until the girlfriend, gang turf wars and exercise bs just started annoying the f*** outta me. Put the game away within 2 weeks of getting it and have never had the desire to play it again

Engineering Done !!
TokyoTaxi replied to TokyoTaxi's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I'm in NSW and there are a certain amount of modifications you can make to your car without any requirement for engineering but once you step outside those restictions an engineer must approve those mods. An example is with wheels. In NSW you are allowed a certain amount of offset and width / diameter change ( can't remember the exact figures ) but once you've exceeded those limits, engineering approval is required. A few of the modifications I have are race specific ( example being 9L High Energy Circut Racing Engine Sump ) and as such are not readily approved for road use. These mods must be engineer certified to be legal for road use. frankxy, you should probably check your local QLD laws to clarify what requirement's are applicable to you. I'm only telling you info relative to my situation. Sorry for any misunderstanding -
My suggestion is to use a dedicated electrical component cleaner. You can get a can at any Dick Smith, Tandy etc. Some Brake / Carby cleaners do leave a film / residue !! The electrical cleaners do not.

Thanks to those who have PM'd me with the part number !! For those of you who might need this info in the future it is: O2 Sensor to suit R32 GTS-T w/RB20DET is NISSAN P/No. 22690-73L11 I've called NISSAN and I believe there are none of these in Aus so I'm going to order one from Japan.
-
Gee thanks..... Your helpfullness is astounding !! And I'm not lazy, It's just a lot easier to call up & quote a part number than it is to get them to go look it up. If anyone asked a similar question I'd be ( and HAVE been ) happy to provide any info I could.
