How damaged is your exhaust ? A badly damaged exhaust will cause all sorts of problems. I would also suggest checking the ignition timing and possibly the crank angle sensor since RB20's sometimes get problems in that area.

All the parts you need for your G/Box can be supplied from NISSAN. Some may have to come from Japan but that doesn't take long. You can even get a whole NEW G/Box through NISSAN !! But that will hurt your bank account a bit more than a rebuild. I'm just about to get my G/Box ( RB20DET ) back from a full rebuild. All syncro's, bearings ( including the needle roller bearings from under the gear clusters ) and seals will set you back around $1,100 unless you've got someone on the inside RB25DET box will prol be a little more. IMHO, if you're going to do something, do it right. The last thing you want to be doing is pulling the G/Box out in 3 months time cause some part that you decided not to change has died !! I'll be going back to Redline Shockproof with this reco'd box as it's the best I've used so far. Currently using Castrol Syntrans ( I think ) and it's not as good as it was with Redline. And F.Y.I. the syncro's in the 31 and 32 GTS-T G/box's are 3 piece and I'd be shocked if anyone else ( other than NISSAN ) sold them. Can't confirm the exact contents of an R33 G/Box but I'd expect it to be a very similar style of build ( just bigger and tuffer bits ).

Formaula Drift Nationals Rd 2, Oran Park, 1st Oct
TokyoTaxi replied to Majanal's topic in New South Wales
That was a top day and damn good crowd !! Great action and all did really well. Chris got screwed pretty hard by the judges ( IMO ) but the "judges" well..........lets just say they shouldn't have been judges !! They would be better suited to a back bench in parliment house.... There are always cars stolen from Oran Park !! My HR31 was stolen from there. I would NEVER take a GOOD car there again. -

Clutch Change Thoughts
TokyoTaxi replied to lwells's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Sounds about right then I just got off the phone with JB and he's confused me even further by giving me a world of options ( including the overhaul and modification / improvement of my OS Twin ). Sooo confused now -
Try using the search feature Heaps of info available. ( How did they re-gas the system when the compressor doesn't work ? )

Here's one for ya. I was in a service station the other day and was approached by a guy who asked me if I might be able to help him fix a problem with his GT-R. No problems !! I drove over to where he was parked and parked next to him and had a quick glance at the car as I got out of mine. A dark blue R32 GT-R..... No worries....... We started talking about the problem ( engine idle hunting ) and I said, no worries, let's start by looking for the obvious things.......open the bonnet and we'll have a look. He pulls the latch and I open the lid and put the stay rod in place only to see an RB20DET I stick my head around the side of the car and notice that the gaurds are GTS ones. Then I look at the compliance plate and notice that it has the following engraved upon it "GT-R" right next to the VIN which says HCR32XXXXX ( I won't say who did the compliance / engraving but it was a pretty well known import car seller in Sydney ). Shortly after explaining to this guy that he actually owned a GTS-T, not a GT-R and what the differnces are between the two this guy freaked out. He told me that he thought he scored a GT-R for great $'s ( he paid $19,600 ) and then shortly thereafter, he went totally red, jumped in his car and took off. He had the GT-R badge, wheels, wing and front bumper and was convinced she was an "R" so not all people are tossers. There's at least one person out there who just didn't know. And if you're part of this forum mate, I'm sorry I had to break it to ya and all the best getting you're $'s back.

Clutch Change Thoughts
TokyoTaxi replied to lwells's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Firstly lw, go drive your car. These should be no excuse for not driving a Skyline ( unless you actually can't ). Just another question. How heavy is the pedal with these JB clutches ?? Most of the heavy duty clutches around are more like a switch and cause the clutch pedal box spot welds to break. -
Clutch Change Thoughts
TokyoTaxi replied to lwells's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So Lucien, are you still happy with the JB Clutch ? Also, what sort of power are you pushing through the clutch ? Also, this was a single plate or twin ? -
Hi, Is anyone using an A-T-S Carbon Clutch assy ? I'm contemplating using a single plate carbon metallic and I just want to know how much power it actually holds and where can you get them at a decent price ? I'm currently using an O.S Giken Twin Plate and it's great for everything except TRAFFIC JAMS !! I've driven a GT-R with an ATS Carbon Twin Plate and it was the best cluth I've ever felt but I can't afford $2,500 + for a clutch Any help would be great

I know this is a really old post but I just thought I'd let you peeps know that I recently pulled my aircon compressor off and took it to a guy in Milperra ( NSW ) who replaced the electro-magnetic clutch for $120 ( including labour ). Add to that the cost of re-gassing the A/C system after installation ( usually around $80 ) and you have a $200 total Not bad when you consider that a NEW A/C compressor from NISSAN will set you back more than $1,200 Do your homework and it will pay off BIG TIME like it did for me.... It took me a couple of months to find this guy but well worth it

A "dud section in the charger thingy.." I have that problem myself lately !!!! ranicx, I know all about this cortina ( and escort ) problem !! I went to the street drags at Calder Park many years ago and pulled the gearstick clean out of the box while changing from 2nd to 3rd. Drove home from the drags using a borrewed screwdriver

These are used instead of skirts and pods ( not with ). Anyone got any in black ?
-
To shell's credit, she did leave it on charge the night before ( she said ) so it must have had a dud battery. Still......I didn't even know how to turn it on when she handed it to me so I can't talk .......

Oh, and keep the pics coming if available !!

Well...... It would appear that I missed all the fireworks stirred up regarding this run. I would firstly like to say that I had a great day and enjoyed the run immensly !!! Love Putty Rd. I also very much enjoyed everyones company. A great bunch of people !! The lunch venue was tops too ( cheers Dan ). Secondly, I will not make any comment on a public forum about anyone doing anything illegal or even suspect. I will say that I sincerely appologise to anyone who felt uncomfortable in any way, shape or form by anything I did or said on the day. With that said, I'd like to re-interate that it was a great run with a great bunch of people and some amusing memories to keep from it. I still can't believe such a small person can eat 1/4 of a cow in one meal !?!?! I feel truely ashamed of eating inabilities and Shell, thanks for letting me have a look at what 2 way radio's look like these days. I can't wait to try one with the batteries charged and now more than ever, I want to re-paint my car that CUSCO blue. Sweeeet !!!

Will Twentys Fit A R33
TokyoTaxi replied to teazn_r33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yes you can fit 20" rims on an R33 !! Jonny from Tempe Tyres had 22" rims on his R33 ( no idea of the offset etc. ). I must say though, 20"+ rims and Aussie roads are SO NOT suited IMO. And also ( IMO ), the only car I've seen that looked "correct" with 20"+ rims was a Lexus. But, whatever pushes your buttons.............. -
Didn't have a camera with me at the time cause that day we were doing an "UP Garage" crawl and saw it in some town about 2.5hrs out of Osaka ( where my camera was ). I can't even tell you what the name of the town was cause I was so obsessed with buying parts Even if I had a picture, there's no way it could do that paint job / scheme justice !!! It just stopped everyone in their tracks !! Sorry I can't be more help

And fill the box with Redline Shockproof
-
Saw an R32 GT-R in Japan that was "Windsor Blue" with a very small amount of Pearl Metallic Flec through it and had two Black GT stipes ( about 6" wide each ) from the rear edge of the boot lid to the front edge of the bonnet. It had a set of Black Nismo LM wheels on it and I literally could not drag myself away from it for 20 minutes !!!!! If I had the $'s I'd do mine that way in a heart beat !!!!!!
-
Agreed on both accounts !! If you do use Just Jap ask "specifically" for Gary to do your service as he is VERY GOOD. I'd let him work on my car and he's 1 of a very small number of people I trust to do that. ( F.Y.I. He prepares / builds the Just Jap and Donut King Targa GT-R's so he really knows his way around the imports ).

Raizin Volt Stabiliser Kits!! With Grouding Cables
TokyoTaxi replied to GKTECH's topic in For Sale (Business Traders)
Purchased and installed. Results: No idea what "real" effect's to expect with "voltage stabilzation" but it's on, and there's a pretty blue light on the side of my battery now On a serious note, I am impressed with a few things that have changed since the installation of the stabilizer AND earth wires. Main improvements are the dash lights and headlights being brighter and a known problem with my engine temp gauge has been resolved. Whatever the brand, Pivot, Raizin or Tandy, it's provided enough positive improvements to justify it's cost ( BTW, currently advertised in HPI mag for something like $150.00 + delivery ). Great service Greg and keep up the good work. Cheers. -
I tried doing the bedding in last night ( 10 times from 80 to 20 ) but it didn't seem to fix the problem for long so I'll have to try the version for race pads and see how that goes. In the past, I've mostly did my "bedding in" on the track. Will post results. Cheers.

OK so now is NOT a good time for this to come to light thanks funky !!!!! That would have been worth bringing in just as a "not to be registered" and then transfer all the bits over and sell off the remainder. The Do-Luck GT-R is MY dream nissan. First saw it around 2000 and just can't find anything else that beats it IMO.

Did someone just say SEX ????
