if you have not bled the air out of the system there will be no coolant in the top half of your motor. there is a small bolt (on vertical bit of pipe) near the fuel pressure regulator and above no 1 injector, it stair you in the face when you open your bonnet. you need to undo that and fill your coolant up. start the motor and let it come up to temp, when the coolant starts to get hot put the bolt back in loosely and let the car get to operating temp. when all the air bubbles stop and cooling is only coming out then it is all good. do the bolt up and you are on you way . your overflow bottle should only be filled half way too. attached pic of bolt. borrowed you motor pic Joe, hope you don't mind. green arrow point to it.
