Tyre Wear - Bald At 6000km
Simon-S14 replied to thedriver's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it is also possible that your front bushes are that shagged, that when you get an alignment at once place the settings are all ok, but when you drive down the road everything moves and puts the alignment out. However for them to be that shagged one of the shops should have picked it up! also you want 0 toe, or 1mm toe out, not 1 degree. Stick with 0 for now and see how you go, Personally i would steer clear of franchise based shops, generally they dont know what the hell they are doing when it comes to imports or something other then a falcon or a commo... Go to a specialist wheel alignment and susp shop. have a chat to them and show them your print outs. they should be able to offer some sound advice -
Mechanical Speedo Sender For The R33 Rb25det Gearbox
Simon-S14 replied to Cubes's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
excellent write up mate, Ive done this and i'd like to add that the quickest, most painless/stress free method of removing the 17 cog gear from the navara drive is with an oxy torch, I used a torch with a low heat setting and simply melted the plastic gear off (dont breathe the fumes in) and it took no less then 30 seconds and i was left with a clean shaft (joke if you will lol) Also you havent mentioned how you held the 33 cog onto the navara shaft, I too ground a half moon shap onto the shaft and decided to drill a hole at the base of the drive, right through the shaft using a small 3mm drill bit and out the other side, then pressed a roll pin through it, much like the stock one that holds the shaft into the housing, thit ensures that the shaft is going no where! other then that its all spot on! -
i think ive gotta do this soon lolol

oi, talk about thread hijack lol. its all good, ive got a few projects on to tide me over, as i said im not after a lot of business as i work full time as a Gas Fitter also.

Bedding In Gearbox And Clutch
Simon-S14 replied to nsta's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
stiffens the box? is that a technical term at all? abo bob: its cheaper and does the same job -
yes and no, ive done the exact cooler and fit to my neighbours S2 r33 and i found the cooling pro kit lacked a few brackets and clamps, which meant stuffing around a bit. But otherwise its around a 3 hour or so job. I like to take my time when it comes to trimming the bar since this its the most visual area.

sure was mate, thats my gf's car. Clutches are one of the few things i wont do at my place, well on 33's anyway, A hoist is needed pref. 32 boxes are no worries lol. I can however point you in the right direction for well priced yet good clutch jobs. Cheers Simon

Ive been doing quite a few home services over the years for people looking for a cheaper yet professional alternative then taking it to a workshop. I'm a mechanic and gas fitter by day, have several Skylines of my own and like to help out others with them. Have recently done several Stagea 100K services also. I'm not operating a business nor am i interested in starting one lol, However i am offering to help out people who need some work done during the weekends. It will be cheaper then a workshop but i dont work for free lol. PM me if your interested.

Bedding In Gearbox And Clutch
Simon-S14 replied to nsta's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah hard acceleration in gear is fine, if the clutch cant handle that then theres something wrong with it lol. But no flat shifting and no dumping or clutch kicking for 500 kms or so. -
Hey mate are you 100% about not shortening the tailshaft at all? I had to chop my front section down 20 odd mm or so, the front section, from centre of the uni to the center of the uni was 350mm long after i finished with it, thats with the 25 yoke on too. FWIW i did it myself at work, using a laithe and tig welder. Is your 32 a factory manual? if so you might get lucky with bolting the box up and all holes should line up, mine was factory auto and some other crossmember was used. 2 out of 4 holes line up, and i redrilled one side to get a third bolt in.. no drama's there. I highly recommend fitting a decent poly box bush tho. the stock ones are pretty shitful and you'll find your shifter bouncing around everywhere like i did before i put mine in lol.

schmenz: Spotted heaps of decent looking imports yesterday; s potted a gunmetal grey 32 in the slip lane coming off portrush rd, nice midnight purple type x on... the rd between hampstead and portrush rd, chick driving a gold s15, oh and a jzx90 on portrush rd, really clean s14 at all type crash also, and a couple of rotors in the mt barker area, one guy giving a series 3-4 some stick, and a blue fd heading towards hahndorf and then spotted again when i drove through there at 10.45pm. A productive day I say! p.s no one ever spots my POS stock 32

the fact they said this suggest they dont know what the hell they are talking about, try getting another alignment asap with another shop, leave the worn tyres on so they can view them and see whats going on, cause something is wrong with your set up -

VMX80 + Nulon G70 = Cheap and awesome combo for nissan boxes -
damage was from several weeks ago at Winton Drift Attack where i placed 3rd. I hit a tyre wall during prac, and also damaged pass side door during an attemped pass lol. my rear guards are similar to haydens but mines a 4 door so its harder to get the same arount of flare compared to a 2 door like his.

another update: Just dropped my car off to All type crash to get work started on it... getting all dents and panels fixed up and a respray of the whole car, prob going a brighter red with some diamond flake in it which looks awesome in the sun! I started stripping the car this morning and decided, stuff it, im sick of the rear tyres always rubbing the guards (which are already flared) so i went all out with an assortment of big hammers and dollys and spent quite some time modifying the guards, both on the inside and the outside. got them out an extra 20mm i reckon!! looks pretty pumped now Ive been invited to compete in the upcoming drift fest 2007 at calder park in dec... so all focus on the car and its prep will be going towards that comp, Its got a massive prize pool also!
