  1. There is no GTROC in Australia... I don't think there are enough GTRs (and owners willing to join) to warrant a GTR only club. Also taking into account the existance of SAU NSW Club, who already offers all that a GTROC Club would offer, why double up? In any case, why discriminate against GTS-t owners? They should be allowed to join too
  2. Thanks for getting me prices Matty, they're EXCELLENT prices, but I've managed to get brand new, supersceded MTX amps for a bargain basement price, so I'm going with them! Cheers guys!
  3. I'll have my GT-SS turbos on the car within the month, so stay tuned... I'll hit OZ up for a dual dyno session and we'll print out a dyno sheet with dyno curves of both cars superimposed on each other so you can see the difference. That said, they're completely different turbos. GT-SS are small. Smaller than 2530s and rated at 280ps each. I'm hoping for 300kw @ all four from them. GT-RS are huge. Bigger than 2540s and rated at 400ps each. That's a 240hp difference in turbos. BIG DIFFERENCE. I opted for maximal response for street and track use, so I went for the fastest spooling turbos I could find... Hopefully I'll be happy with them.
  4. Greedy greedy greedy
  5. Translated so E_Lu-SHuN can read it.
  6. I'm glad someone was able to draw the obvious conclusion that I was hinting at There ain't $1200 difference between the three different OS Giken twin plates mikrop.
  7. I think your keyboard is broken mate.
  8. You're right. There are three types of twin plate OS Giken clutches. TS2B - Pressed Steel Cover, Twin Plate, 204mm Clutch Plate Diameter. TS2BD - Pressed Steel Cover, Twin Plate, 204mm Clutch Plate Diameter, Sprung Center. TS2CD - Pressed Steel Cover, Twin Plate, 215mm Clutch Plate Diameter, Sprung Center. Japanese Retail Prices are as follows: TS2B - 143,000 Yen TS2BD - 148,000 Yen TS2CD - 158,000 Yen
  9. Yep, it says ピュアトロン (pyua toron - "puretron") And Rezz is right on the money, it's an Air Purifier/Ioniser... My R33 GTR actually has one on the rear parcel shelf between the two rear speakers...
  10. Actually, I was thinking about these HKS GT2540s having different compressor housings depending on what application they're for... Apparently: GT2540 for RB26DETT has HKS specific comp housing, GT2540 for RB25DET has modified Garrett comp housing with aluminium insert. How can that be? Obviously the two compressor housings aren't the same. So how can they both be GT2540s if they're different turbos?? Hmmm........
  11. Absolutely... I'm sure we can get Ben to cover a comparo, and perhaps source some turbos for us to swap with. High mount turbos like the GT30 on an RB25 would be a VERY easy swap to make with an HKS GT3040. But to make use of the HKS's higher boost and rpm threshold, you'd need to have done internals (at least pistons and rods) I only had stock internals and the HKS GT3040 pulled all the way to 8000rpm without any sign of dropping off power, but that's not so good for stock rods

  13. I use Royal Purple oils, (there is a whole range of viscosities available for your picking) and I pay around $90 for 5 litres from C&V Performance if I remember correctly.
  14. I have a GTR with GT-SS turbos going on in the next few weeks, and am willing to partake in the comparison as well.
  15. Mate, it's called a MY00 "Classic" Edition WRX... Hopefully that helps your efforts. I was looking at one and took one for a drive, but I didn't like how it didn't come with WRX seats, but instead unsupportive RX seats, albeit wrapped in leather. Looks great in black though! Good luck
  16. They have different markings cast onto them and the big end part seems to look different in one part too...
  17. Very interesting read! I suppose it's quite possible, as all RB25 failures I've seen from excessive power levels have been piston related, which THEN leads to the rods punching holes through the block. I'm not so sure about the claim that "but some RB 25s have weaker rods but a lot have GTR rods" though... That just seems very iffy and unlikely to me. Either they all have the same rods or don't. Or all Series 2 and on have RB26-spec rods, or something like that. The claim of: seems like it's based on not enough evidence to me, and based on one or two RB25s grenading and resulting opinion that it had "weaker rods than the rest" and was a "dog motor" But I suppose Steve-SST has seen a lot more RB25s than I have, so
  18. Just wondering where you got this tidbit of information from, or what evidence you have to support this? :whatsthat
  19. I'm in the market for some Alpine splits and amps, and was hoping some of you had hookups with Alpine dealers who can give me a decent discount (not just everyday walk-in 10% off)... I'm after DDC-F17C DDDrive Splits, MRV-F340 4 Channel Amp and MRD-M300 Monoblock Amp, so whilst not huge, it's a decent sale. Thanks guys
  20. Very interesting indeed... Roy's point about bolt-on kits having to have an inlet that is compatible with the std RB20/25 inlet piping resulting in the machined snout is a good one... Makes sense I suppose. I know, I bought a set of GT-SS and they're sitting right here next to me. There are no HKS markings on it at all, but this discussion was about the 25xx series, not the GT-SS/GT-RS.
  21. So true... Isn't that sad?
  22. Would I ever suggest such a thing???? YES!!!
  23. Awesome looking turbo there Harry What horsepower rating is it equivalent to in HKS terms? It would be great if you could have a dyno comparison to show spool up characteristics, and top end curve against another 2.8L engine with HKS turbo of equivalent power rating!! Good luck, I'm sure it'll be a monster to drive
