  1. Where are the cars???? Well Japan isn't quite the modified car heaven you might think it is There aren't Skyline GTRs on every street corner and Drift FD3Ss in every driveway... In fact, I'd venture to say there there were more modified cars in Sydney than there were in Japan. Difference being that the Japanese have taste and don't **** up the cars like our bling bling brigade Here are a couple of cars I saw on the street: And some VIP cars I won't include many photos of Tokyo Autosalon, because I'm sure the others will post a lot of pics from this year. Here are just a few: I visited the Top Secret Workshop in Chiba, and took a few pics And I also visited JUN Auto Mechanics in Saitama which was an absolute ADVENTURE to get to... EVERY SINGLE CAR in the JUN workshop is worked off it's tits... It's amazing to see so many cars being worked on to such an extreme in one place!! This is a brand new R34 GTR shell, being held for a customer in Dubai. They get problems with corrosion in Dubai, so the owner ordered a spare shell just in case  Before the big crash:
  2. I don't want to put them all on this page, because it would take forever for dialup users to load the page But here's the next part... I visited Hiroshima and Kyoto as well, so there are about 8 Mb (out of 1.2 Gb that I took) of pics I've picked to show you guys
  3. Why? $1000 is cheap as chips for a CAD designed plenum chamber... If you want all that, step upto the $4000 JUN GT Surge Tank (Plenum Chamber), and pay for the man hours it takes to get that kind of loving Brendan, sorry I can't help, my car came with a GReddy plenum, although I bought one for my silver GTS-t before someone prematurely ended that project. You're right... The insides are quite rough and don't look perfect for smooth airflow, but they're not THAT rough. When I looked inside the one that I bought, although it had a slightly rough finish, there weren't any protruding cast marks inside that would really disrupt the path air would take... Also notice that the runners are tiny!! But with a lot of meat cast into the runners. I believe they've been cast small to promote faster air velocity, but give you the option of boreing them out more if you're running high boost and need more airflow...
  4. More to come in a bit...
  5. The other mode of transport With the cost of living so high in Tokyo, it's not surprising to see people homeless and living on the street. I didn't even notice this was someone's "house" until it was pointed out to me! That guy probably wasted away all his money on Pachinko and pr0n NO GAIJIN!!! There are many many perverts in Japan, with all the grabbing of women's asses and tits on the train, taking upskirt photos on escalators, and downright weirdos like this guy. He's about 40 years old, and he's wearing a school girl's outfit........ No, I'm not kidding. Here's Akihabara, the electronics suburb. It's really weird... I first went there during the day, and it looked just like any other shopping district you'd see, except a lot more crowded. Then I went back at night to buy some goodies, and the whole place was lit up in neons so much so, that it still looked like it was daytime... I didn't have a proper camera to capture that feel sorry This is what you see when you first exit the JR Station. This is the main street of Akihabara... All the shops you can see, all the way to the end are electronics stores. Camera, Computers, Video Games, Pr0n, Gadgets, Spy Camera shops, Military-type stores, etc etc We went to a very very nice high-end Japanese restaurant, and had to make our own wasabi This is what REAL wasabi looks like... You grate it on a board covered in shark scales and it magically turns into this hot wasabi paste
  6. Okay guys... I've finally gotten around to putting a few photos of Japan up that I took in January 2003. First up, This is me disembarking the plane into Narita airport My hotel room in Tokyo!!! VERY VERY cramped, and this is quite a large room by Tokyo standards McDonalds is RAMPANT in Japan. They actually call it "Macudonarudo Hanbaagaa" or "Macu" for short.. A McDonalds Value Meal isn't such good "value" in Japan, with a regular Value Meal costing around AUD$9-10 Speaking of value, check out this rockmelon!!! 10,000 Yen is about AUD$125.. That's right... AUD$125 for a ROCKMELON!!! Fresh fruit in Japan is very expensive and a luxury, and is a common gift when visiting friends at their house. Everytime you goto someone else's house to visit, it's polite to bring a gift I wouldn't mind if people brought me takoyaki all the time These are little egg and flour balls with a piece of octopus in the middle that just melt in your mouth... SOOOOOOOOOO GOOD They're the little balls on the left of this photo: Everything is really convenient in Japan. Their JR rail system is extremely efficient to cope with the population, and lack of space for everyone to have a car. Another efficiency invention is vending machines. There are vending machines on just about EVERY street, and sometimes there are "Vending Corners" like this:
  7. I can get the following parts: R33 GTR N1 Front Bar Slot Left - $307 R33 GTR N1 Front Bar Slot Right - $307 Series 3 Front Lower Lip - $980 +shipping to your door. These are brand new, and have to be ordered from Japan. Let me know if you want them and I can order them for you. Andrew.
  8. Oh I think the gallery is GREAT for the exact reasons you stated... and it's awesome to have such a collection of photos to browse through instead of searching google all the time .............. but I don't think they need to be listed as part of the forums at all... It makes the page load slower, has nothing to do with the forums, created horizontal scrolling for some users and just adds too much to something that should be simple and mostly graphics free
  9. hahahahahaha... Good work Time to invest in a proper camera Rezz
  10. Well............ I suppose that's ONE way of labelling it. Nissan however didn't call it a Series 1.5... Airbags were introduced around December 1994 (although I've seen several earlier 1994s with airbags). If I remember correctly, ABS was an option throughout the entire R33 range (1993 onwards), with it turning to standard equipment in Series 2, although I've seen one Series 2 R33 without ABS!! The usual and accepted differentiating years are: 1993-Dec 1995: Series 1 Jan 1996 - End: Series 2 (Facelift model with passenger airbag and all the updates mentioned in PaulR33's post)
  11. Blade, a 1995 skyline is a Series 1. There's about a $4-5,000 premium to move upto a Series 2.
  12. Please please please please please get rid of that gallery and the links to the gallery forums...
  13. Oh trust me... I know all the methods, and I know all the right tools and products to get out all my nasty swirl marks and make my car shine like a beacon. I've spoken to scottwax in Texas at length and his work just speaks volumes... I'll post some examples. He's also a GOD on autopia, the biggest car detailing forum out there, so he knows his stuff backwards... I bought some Clearkote products and S100 wax as recommended, but I didn't have a strong enough cutter... I need to get some Meguiars DACP to get rid of the swirls properly.... Aaaaaaaaanyway, I spent about 4 hours on my car, and I did: Full Car Wash with Meguiars Gold Class Dawn Liquid Wash (only on the bonnet and front guards) to get rid of any old waxes Clay Bar the bonnet and front guards with Meguiars Quik Detailer as lubricant Hand applied Scratch-X over the bonnet and front guards Hand applied Clearkote Vanilla Moose over the bonnet and front guards Hand applied S100 wax over the bonnet and front guards. ........ and it only took me about 4 hours, sweating my ass off. Oh sure, the front of the car looked 5000 times better, but all the swirl marks still weren't out as I didn't have a strong enough cutting compound. So after all that, I gave up on the rest of the car and decided to let a professional do it the first time to get it upto scratch, then I can maintain it and just do the: Wash, Polish, Wax part
  14. Jeff? It's Andrew with NOS-25T (which I've sold now)... Your brother would do very well for himself to get into a Series 2 for $17k... Last time I checked, stock standard, decent condition Series 2s were still going for around $22-24k, and if your brother is anything like you are, he wouldn't be happy with an accident damaged, crappy example. Actually, I believe cars sell for quite a deal cheaper up in QLD, so it's probably best to look up there.
  15. You guys found your way down that alley on the right of the workshop to their showroom............... right?
  16. I dunno... Doesn't really belong on the forums... Just makes the page look cluttered, load slower and meh... Would look great on the normal skylinesaustralia.com page though!
  17. Cop was probably checking it out... There are quite a few car enthusiast cops around... Not all of them are dickwads like some people on here would have you believe
  18. :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn:
  19. Ben's "little 1.6L" has a LOT of thoughtful and ingenious modifications. Open the engine (boot lid? ) and you'll see why it runs so well, with much more to go as well! Also, new dynodynamics software version was rolled out late last year, and apparently Shootout Mode is the ONLY mode to use now for the most consistent readings with accurate corrections to take into account atmospheric factors. This is apparently what DynoDynamics training staff are telling all their customers (the workshops we goto)...
  20. Interesting results to say the least! Looks like your results concur with the GTROC UK guys who have had extensive testing on the GT-RS over several cars and found that they are only suitable for 2.8L and up I'd love to be able to post how my GT-SS turbos go soon, but my mod list keeps growing and now I'm waiting for forged conrods to arrive It will be another month AT LEAST before my build even starts :crying:
  21. 10.5 inches will fit under R33 and R34 Guards no problems with that offset if the car isn't lowered. If it is lowered, it'll sometimes rub on the inner guard liner at full lock, especially if you're on a hill or going up a driveway or something that makes the suspension compress a little more. The main reason is that I want Silver ones, not Bronze ones though
  22. If they were silver and 9.5 inches, I'd buy them straight away
  23. Dammit I bought these off meggala, and banked on buying another two from Bridgestone to complete my set (GTRs need EXACTLY the same tyres front and rear) but it turns out that they are going to be supersceded by the RE55S (which I didn't want because they're too soft and will only last 2 trackdays or so) and aren't getting any more RE540s in So I have 2x 255/40ZR17 RE540s, which still have the little knobs on the tyres, so they're essentially as new condition for sale. I bought them for $550 off meggala which was a great price, so I'd like that amount back. Alternatively, if anyone can source me another two of these exact tyres, I'll take them!
