I wasn't suggesting the german place again, I was saying that was a good night where we actually sat down for dinner instead of grabbing take away pizza and eating it standing up next to the beach -
SERIOUS NEWS -- 15 Year Rule WILL CHANGE ON 1 JAN 2005
Merli replied to dAVE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Well... this is quite serious isn't it... I'm kind of torn. On one hand, it's their stupid fault for introducing SEVS and making it prohibitively hard to import cars through that scheme. So this obviously forces people to go through the 15 year old rule and purchase older vehicles. On the other hand, I don't want a stupid influx of 15 year old pollution-making machines (which many are)... They cite that their main concern if the sheer numbers, and environmental impact as the two reasons for the need to change the rules... I might write to them suggesting they loosen the SEVS stranglehold, and limit the importation of cars to ONLY those that are exactly 15 years old by year of manufacture (not month like it is now)... This has two effects: 1. It will allow more modern cars to be imported into Australia, but at greater cost to a 15 year old model, so lesser numbers will be imported. Also, being more modern cars, they will be subject to emissions standards. 2. By only allowing 15 year old cars and none older to be imported, you filter out a lot of the older pollution-belching cars that would otherwise skip emissions testing. -

Merli replied to B-Man's topic in Events Archive
What time were you thinking? I wonder if it would work if instead of having the usual "meet at midnight, cruise to newport for pizza" cruise, we could actually meet earlier, cruise to a proper restaurant and have a nice dinner.... That dinner we had ages ago up in woop woop (Some German restaurant) when TWS came and owned all our cars ( ) was great! -

Sequential shifter converter - Interested???

It's just a dumb "Japanese innovation" guys... It sits on top of the standard box and it's ugly as all hell. Not even the japanese buy it for their cars. I played with it at Tokyo Autosalon last year and it seemed to work okay, and a cool gadgety "novelty" item, but I sure as hell wouldn't put it in my car Here's their website: http://www.ikeya-f.co.jp/english/ -

All those propsing defensive driving courses to allow younger drivers to be licenced to drive powerful cars, I say this: All P-plate drivers should have to complete a defensive driving and advanced driving course (skidpan, slalom, braking test, awareness test, etc) before allowing them to graduate to full licence, regardless of what car they want to drive. Oh, show all new drivers that "gruesome" video that I've heard that police show repeat drunk drivers too. -

I didn't say that every person under 21 has posted NO to the restriction, I said that every person who said NO to the restriction was under 21 I have no doubt that there are many sensible younger members on our Skylines Forums and we're glad to have you with us! -
Although I agree that perhaps it might not be worth your friend's time and hassle to chase up what would have been a less than $300 expense, I can understand his frustration at purchasing a car and having something go wrong before he even gets it home. The dealer *IS* liable, as they have to provide limited warranty on all cars that they sell. It sounds like they're going to try and brush your friend off (probably because he lives in another state and they think he'll just give up), so your options from here are: 1. Ring Dept. of Fair Trading in QLD for advice (http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au) 2. Ring ACCC - Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (http://www.accc.gov.au) 3. Ring cousin Habib and Ibrahim.

I think it's because he DOES care, that he's voting for the restriction. I also agree that P-platers should have power restrictions. As predator said: It's extremely telling that everyone 24-25 and older is saying how much they've matured and learnt since they were 17-21, myself included. It's also extremely telling that EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this thread who has posted "No" to the power restriction has been under 21. There is no doubt in my mind that you will change your views as you mature in the next 3-4 years and be calling for a power restriction for P-Platers too when you look back on your younger years, even though you think you are a mature and sensible example of a P-Plater. -

Rear End Half Cut For R33 GTR ?
Merli replied to MINES_DATSUN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
This might be very well true when done correctly by an engineer. but that's not always the case, and I have seen photos of several examples where in a small hit, the welds have come undone and the car has split in two along the join... Sounds like ylwgtr2 knows what he's doing so that's good that he's helping MINES_DATSUN out...
