Although you might be sitting there with a scowl on your face, please don't assume that others take the internet as seriously as you do When people threaten physical violence to someone 800kms away who they've never seen before or know what kind of fighting experience they have, it just makes me crack up... Thanks for allowing me to continue posting my signature though Please reply again. -

It's pretty easy to say "I'm gonna *** you up and break your nose, you cawksucker" when you live 800kms away and don't have to backup your stupid threats isn't it? -

You're not the smartest kid on the block are you? If my parents bought my car for me, do you think I'd be paying this guy out about it? I don't really have a problem with parents buying their kids cars anyway... If they work hard to provide the best in life for their kids, all the more power to them... But when their kids don't appreciate it and don't respect what they've been given like this MINES_DATSUN character, then that's when it turns into a joke. -

If anything, I would have thought the GT-RS would have MORE lag than a big single?

Apexi AX53B60 turbos versus HKS 2530's for GTR
Merli replied to JAGR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I do agree that many people rely on magazine articles to form their "own" opinions though... It's quite amusing to talk to someone and hear them quote a Zoom article verbatim and pass it off as their own thoughts -

So is this for sale now, that you've written off the GTR your parents bought you? -

Wow... I never saw this coming 20 Years Old, parents buy you a GTR after writing of another car And with an attitude like this: I really have no sympathy for you. Karma's a bitch isn't it? Perhaps now you'll be lucky to drive a Maxima, but going by your parent's track record, they'll probably buy you an Enzo Ferrari now. Do you like my new signature? -
FS: BBS LM 17inch 2 piece rims
Merli replied to justinfox's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yep, they were available when I was deciding on my plates 3 months ago, but I didn't feel like paying $400 a year for them I was extremely surprised that they were available!!! I decided on these instead -

Apexi AX53B60 turbos versus HKS 2530's for GTR
Merli replied to JAGR33's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think that's a gross generalisation. I haven't read HPI or Zoom for about a year now, and ph1 purchased the T517z turbos for his GTR when they were first released blind, without any feedback from other GTR owners, as he was one of the first to use them, and quite possibly the first in Australia to use them. I thought they would be laggy due to the thrust bearing setup, but after going for a ride in ph1's car, my initial thoughts were unfounded. This all happened before most people had even HEARD of Trust T517z turbos. -
That post made absolutely NO SENSE to me whatsoever @ alien civic @ civic

I think their reaction depends whole heartedly on your own behaviour... My friends and I never encountered any hostility (joking or otherwise) from the locals because we were foreigners, nor were we ever called gaijins. I believe it's because we weren't wandering around shouting out to all the girls "WHOA!!! DUDE!!! CHECK OUT THAT ONE!!!" "WANNA FU CK BABY??? $5 SUCKY SUCKY????" like several drunk American tourists that we saw. I walked into a "Budweiser" bar hoping to find a few english speaking people to talk to for a while, and was confronted with a bar filled with loud, boisterous and obnoxious Americans, swaggering in their place and generally agressive behaviour so I promptly left... Then again, I was only in Japan for 2 weeks so I probably didn't get a chance to see the locals true reaction to tourists... and perhaps I was oblivious to any hostile comments because I didn't understand them  But my general feeling was that they were more curious than pissed off at our group's presence... And myself being Chinese, when I wandered off on my own, I blended in more than I thought I would and you should see the SHOCK on their faces when I reply back "Sorry mate, can't speak Japanese :D" in an Australian accent... In fact I thought they loved it when I said "osutoraria-jin desu"

Yes, I ordered them brand new from my aforementioned Nissan Spare Parts Dealer for $1350 each. This was a while ago though, so I'm not sure if the pricing still stands.
-
I've had another thought too, in that I could get Unique Autosports on board and persuade them to pursue this option to increase their parts lineup... That way, perhaps they can purchase the original front lip and lend it to us. If you could get me a list of all the different materials the copy can be made out of, and a write up of their strengths and weaknesses in relation to the original plastic lip, I'll be able to present some (hopefully) attractive options to John (owner of UAS)... This way, your contact might be able to make some more money out of this project through UAS's sales.

ph1 on these forums has T517z with 8cm2 exhaust housings on his R33 GTR... He made 347kw @ all four if I remember correctly, and when he took me for a drive, it didn't feel overly laggy (which I would have expected compared to ball bearing HKS range), but ask him for his personal experience and what rpm they make 1 bar at... As mentioned in other threads, my build has been postponed, pending the arrival of forged internals, so it will be another month until I can give you any results of my GT-SS turbos
-
Yes. everyone has seen it, and if you look closely, it never falls below 4000rpm, except for once or twice and when it pulls from 3000rpm, it's nothing like the pull it gives when exiting a 4000rpm corner... In reality, stock GTRs hit decent boost at 4000rpm, and 2530s lift that to 4500rpm, and that's extra lag that I don't need. 2530s might be fine for trackwork, but they won't be as good as the GT-SS or standard turbos for street use, where you are mostly around 2000-4000rpm. This is all theory btw, I'll let you know how these GT-SS go in about a month's time. Perhaps 2530s are ultimate for the track, but they certainly aren't ULTIMATE for the street. There are better. edit: Maybe Mines are able to lower the rpm when the 2530s kick in with their combination of parts and tuning, but unfortunately I don't have the money for a Mines crate engine

I didn't think it was necessarily a "bad" thing at all... I thought it added a lot to the charm of the place, and I loved how ENTIRELY different Tokyo was to Hiroshima and to Kyoto... There are so many other places I want to see in Japan that I didn't get to goto, including Fuji-san! But I simply didn't have enough time. For all those reading this thread: I know this is probably entirely not needed, but in case there are one or two of you out there who are now scared of Japan........ DON'T BE!!! As evo_lee said, this is not typical at all, and truth be told, they're harmless. Leave them alone and they won't even give you a passing glance, except to say "すーごいですね!!がいこくじんです!!” and stare at you a while But it would be out of curiosity and not animosity. They leave foreigners and tourists out of their business, and I felt completely safe just standing there for an hour in the middle of all this sneaking photos now and again... Japan has so much more to offer than just their second hand cars, I implore you to visit and soak up their culture as it's so unique you won't find anything else like it anywhere else in the world There are only a few more photos to go... I went to Kyoto, and then the Sumo Grand Championship back in Tokyo, where I took mostly video footage, so I might put up a short sumo video if you guys are interested in seeing it... :headspin:

Interesting... As I said in an earlier post, they have to be ordered from Nissan Japan and shipped over, so we'd have to buy one to use as a template. An SAU NSW member has recently ordered/purchased a Series 3 lip for his GTR, and I don't think it has been painted yet, so I'll ask him if he's willing to lend it to us for a while. A few questions first: 1. How long will it take, so I can tell him how long he'll lose his front lip for 2. You said that it will be made from a poly"something or other" plastic... I assume polyurethane. But then you said in your last sentence "or fibreglass for around $600+ fitted" Did you mean polyurethane in that last sentence? 3. Will they be the same strength as the genuine items? Cheers, Andrew.
